I have to say, I got the 5610u a month ago, and it was a mistake, because it’s so good, I haven’t really been wearing any of my other watches 😂
Currently wearing it on my right with the skx007 on my left wearing all my fancy duds sipping some .. Feeling like a millions bucks😁
@@surfside75 This is obviously the way to wear it more frequently :-)
Same here. I ordered mine last week, thought that it was the 3159 module, then the shop told me the original 5610 is no longer available, they would ship me the 5610u version. Then I googled and came to this video, and this is such a nice upgrade over the old one. Loving the new watch so far!
It's easier if you dual wield watches, that's my way at least, practical on the right, fancy on the left.
Don't really care if wearing two watches breaks some unwritten rule, it's fun
Just received my 5610u yesterday 😎
Isn’t just so great when people take the time to do these videos, trying to read the instructions given on these instruction manuals that you can’t read because the print is so small for people like me too read. Just bought my G-Shock today and thanks to this video I’m all up and running, Thank you 🙏🏻
I'm glad I helped
He is doing this as his job because youtube is paying him. He is great at making detailed tutorials though.
Can you hear the alarm and hourly chimes?
@@MateoBakija More power to him. Understand him a lot more than those manuals with lawyer style instructions.
@@jamesbam100 Unfortunately the sound is weak on this watch .
The reason could be don't disturb people around 😅 .
From doing the voice-overs for the Mass Effect codex to making the best tutorial on the 3495 module. You truly are the G.O.A.T.
This module is an all-time classic. Thanks very much for this excellent tutorial. Logical and efficient presentation, all the features, no wasted time.
The mites crawling around on the watch aren't bothering me at all. Nope, not at all.
After collecting a 10k mechanical watch collection over the years I figured while camping I need a Casio and here we are, what a blast of a watch. Thank you, clear and easy tutorial. Solid content!
I'm in the same boat . . . Zlatoust, one Rolex, two Panerais . . . never felt good about wearing any of these when I need to do some physical activities. Never had the G-Shock on my radar until recently. Bought a 5000U and that one looks like it will outlast me.
After ten years of collecting Casio’s I hit a Casio 😂
@@bernardpaulsen825same story here. Just got my 5000 U and can’t take it off. I have a collection of Seamasters. But this G-Shock is so much fun! And affordable. I love it.
Even the little insects crawling over it seem interested in it.
What kind of bugs is this?
@@kayakeux dust mites.
now you made me look 😂
The watch is broken and some of the nano bots got out to check over the watch .
It makes me itch watching them and it's all I can see, lol.
I had the previous version for 16 years, worn every day and 100% reliable until it started restarting itself every day recently. Just replaced it with the latest version, loving it esp the dd.m feature. Thanks for showing us how to use this great watch.
It's quite a letdown that this watch that has been the same at its core for 40 years, still doesnt allow you to set up alarms in a calendar. The watch knows what date and time it is, down to the second and it (now) has 5 alarms. But you can only turn them on or off and they will chime daily. I mean, come on.
@maxmeier532 use you're mobile phone?
😂😂jj
I received my 5610U today. I sat down with my watch and your video to get it all set up. Ich danke Ihnen!
I just received my 5610U and watched your video. It was lots of help, thank you! I've owned a new Rolex GMT Master and it was crap when it came to time keeping. I also have a new Omega Speedmaster Professional which keeps very good time, at least till the mainspring broke recently. I may be wearing this watch more than I expected.
As always, love these tutorial videos. Got the 5610u recently and love it, good to get to know all the details about it and all the updates.
I got the GWM-5610u about a year ago and it’s my favorite watch to date and I have a bad watch tan because I don’t take it off. I highly recommend this watch.
I bought a Gshock GA2110 SU and I tend to prefer analog and the calendar is fun to look at but the digital screen is a bit impractical. But the watch is tough as nails.
Now, I bought this watch and got lucky, not knowing what I was buying, and I got the updated version. I used to look down on the digital screens but I really like this watch. The technology inside is amazing. I don't travel much, and I am from the USA and now live in Germany. I switched the date because of this video. I knew about the feature but the video was so well done that I pushed the buttons and bingo, it was changed.
The online instructions are good but you explained it and made it easy. I am now a subscriber.
Just to mention, I was looking at mechanical watches and other fancy quartz watches but I need something tough and reasonably waterproof. 20bar is really good.
And I paid 103.97 with free shipping.
I feel lucky 😌
Thank you for this detailed review on the watch. When I purchased it, I was already having buyers remorse. I already have about 15 other Casio's and G Shocks, including the 5600, 5610 and 5600bb. The minute I held it in my hands, I knew it was special. The weight, the texture of the band is unlike any of my other Casio's. I can honestly say this will probably be my ONE and DONE over all my other watches. Kinda sad, but it is what it is. If you're contemplating getting this watch... Just do it! You won't regret it. Love mine!
Got my GW 5000U yesterday morning. Immediately watched your video. Extremely helpful while assisting me setting my functions, love this made in Japan G-Shock. NEW SUB here from CA.
Great video I just got the 5000u and u made everything so simple for me
I was only able to set the time and it was on the wrong country before I watched this video
Now I can run through everything in about a minute without any problems
Thank you
Thank you so much for these videos! I’m new to Casio G-Shocks and your videos make learning how to set them up a total breeze. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to make these. Thumbed up!
TY so much for the detailed tutorial. I just accomplished 8n 5 sec what I had been at for about 20 mins (activating auto light). Much appreciated. 💯
You, my friend, are an international treasure! You helped me set up my Rangeman a few years ago with these videos.
Bought this today in addition to my 2004 Gshock which is still doing great, but I wanted digital display. Love it straight out of the box, perfect size and fit. And thanks to you I don't need to read the manual for the new module!
What an excellent, well presented video. I used your entire tutorial to set up my new watch. This was much easier than trying to read the tiny text in the instruction manual. Many thanks.
Yeah ... those manuals are crap 🙂
As always amaizing reviews. I guess the auto repeat and the alarm to set day and monthly are a big loss, but having the actual time meanwhile the chrono is running and the dual time are very big improvements.
visible actual time while on stopwatch and timer mode is great update, ability to choose between mm.dd and dd.mm is another great thing. Casio is listetning to its fans and this is the best gift from Casio G-Shock. Great watches...
This was really helpful. Picked up my fist Gshock today GW5000U.
Thanks for the walkthrough !
Very helpful video! Also noticed a few mites crawling around on the watch lol
Thanks for the video, I just picked up a GW-M5610 from Best Buy Cda online on sale last night, $79+tax, delivered this afternoon and opened the package, to my surprise it was GW-M5610U!
I noticed the light on top right corner and was very surprised 😯 it was the 3495 module
I really like the small bar indicators on the bottom of the screen. Some other G-Shock models take up more space (like an 1/8 of the screen!) just to tell you battery status. On this model, the information is there, it’s easy to see, and it’s subtle and out of the way.
Also, I use countdown timers much more often than I use a stopwatch. So it’s a very nice feature to have because it can be a pain to have to do all that with a big, flat iPhone. One complaint I have is that the alarms only seem to beep for 10 seconds, then go off. The tone isn’t very loud. So if you don’t sleep lightly enough to wake up in the 10 seconds of beeping, you’re likely to oversleep.
In my opinion if Casio really wants to make this model the cat’s meow, they’d add the function to allow alarms to be set for certain days. I don’t have to wake up at the same time all 7 days a week, for example. So it’d be nice to have a way to preset alarms for specific days. If Casio updates the 5610 to include this, it might be the most useful watch on Earth.
Agreed. If you look at vintage Casio digital watches they actually have the alarms for different days of the week, would be cool to bring it back.
I left my casio last night on the tub and got a reception as you said... need to be on a metal tube, crazy! Thanks mate!
Thanks a lot for your tutorials man!! This is the second Gshock I set up immediately after buying it, thanks to your videos!!
Just got my GW5000U today. This has been very helpful for setting everything up. Thank you!
Thanks much for this tutorial. The downloadable Casio manual leaves a LOT to be desired, and you answered all the questions I had.
Love my new 5601/5610 but the world time settings are still confusing. This is the best detailed instructions I've seen!
Very good video. Good closeup, detailed instructions and easy to understand English. Very well done. Just bought this watch on Amazon because of this video. I really like it. This isn’t my first Casio and won’t be the last.
Thanks for the awesome video
This is my 1st G-Shock. I had a difficult time trying to figure out which one to get. I believe I picked the right one. Your video was very helpful.
*_Thinking of getting a Casio G-Shock soon. I stumbled upon your Channel and became an instant subscriber. I'm totally impressed with your knowledge of G-Shock features and functions. Another video of yours I've watched after this compared so many G-Shock models. Shared both videos on social media. Thank you and keep doing what you do best._*
I appreciate your time making this. Helpfull and right to the point.
Going the same way as the other comments, I have to say thank you . Such a clear and easy tutorial , one of the best beater watches to own. Cheers 😎👍
Absolutely amazing and detailed tutorial. Thank you so much! Got this watch today in the blacked out solar powered version and was able to set the watch using your video
Ah what the heck I’m gonna subscribe. 😁👍🏼
Thank you for for the complete thorough guide. Loving this hourly chime feature.
I got this watch as a gift, but when setting up I was 😢. Saw this video then I figure it up.... thx a million times...❤
"I'm chuffed to bits I stumbled upon this vid! Your tip on swapping home time with world time are dead useful. Proper gutted I didn't know this on my last trips. Can't wait to give it a go on my next adventures!"
Thank you, sir. Mine arrived this morning and this is very clear, helpful and well executed. I did notice some small mites making a cameo at the beginning! 🙂
Thanks for this great video. I received my gw5000u today and this really helped me get up and running fast
GREAT video. Just got my GW-M5610U-1CJF and set it up in only a few minutes with this video.... thanks.
I have had the watch for a few days now. Best watch I have ever owned!!! The functionality is perfect. This is everything I have ever wanted in a watch minus the watch band, its a tad to small for me.
Excellent tutorial, my watch has just arrived & I’ve set up as I want it by going through the video, many thanks
Thank you for a detailed tutorial… this makes it easy to learn. Appreciate your efforts !!!
Oooh just received my 5610U-1CF from Amazon USA. Thrilled to say this is my first ever G Shock and I ended up gifting it to myself.
Thanks. This is the most comprehensive 5610U guides.
Thanks for the great informative tutorial. Helped a lot. Just purchased this watch, but with the negative face.
Thank you so much for this detailed guide! I have the G-Shock GAW-100B-1AJF and I love it but I'm seriously considering this beauty for my birthday! You can't go wrong with Casio hahaha Thanks again for such great content in the channel! 🤘🏼
Fantastic resource! So much better than the manual for understanding the functions and function set up. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hi! Thank you for this. Really appreciate the effort and work you have put in to cover all the features.
Just ordered the Gw M5610u 1 ber with negative display, cant wait for my first Square 🙌
Many thanks! Was able to set up my watch following the video instead of reading the manual.
I'm waiting for my G to arrive... I saved this video for later. Thank you for taking your time to do such a detailed and informational video, this will be a great help :)
Thanks for making this tutorial video as I would never of figured out how to set this watch up without it.
This video is the best thing that happened to me after I bought the gw-5000u-1er.
Now I have realised how great the watch is. I am proud I own one my self. Great video. 👍
Are the bugs included with the update ;)
Great tutorial. Easy to follow. Got my 5000u set up the way I want it. Thanks
I love this watch so much it's a homage to the first ever G-Shock the DW-5000C from 1983 but it's packed with awesome technology 👍🏻👍🏻
Just got my 5610 today and man this helped out a lot!
i'm totally inept with anything technological and English isn't my native language, but thanks to you I've got all the settings on my G-shock adjusted. You're the man
I saw so many videos about this version but this video is best man thanks great job👍🙂
Thanks for making me an expert on my new 5610!
I think is the best watch review tutorial, thanks from Argentina. I will get g5600ue soon...
Thanks for the great walk through! I’m excited to start using my watch :D!
Thank you very much, it helped me in everything for the first time and to know more about this spectacular casio.
Thanks - this tutorial saved me so much time setting up my 5610 :-)
Thanks for making this! Had me set up and running in no time at all 😶
I had the original 5610 in the "half-blacked-out" version (1BER -- negative display with white and gray accents on the dial) but after hearing about the U versions here on WatchGeek last summer, I bought a new one with the default retro colour scheme last September. A double win, as I was able to swap the modules between the two cases in minutes, so now I have the grayscale looks with the much more legible positive display and improved module, and the wife got a "new" G-Shock for occasional use. And to my eye the goldish hue of the digits on the negative display actually look better with the dial colours of the basic model.
I have two gripes about the U module: although the longer duration of the backlight is a welcome improvement, the directional and spotty nature of the LED is a bit annoying, the other thing is that the U module - at least mine - synchs much slower than the old one (it takes about twice as long).
Anyway, both the old and the newer model/module is highly recommended, any one of the 5610 family is good addition to any watch collection. (I'd say a perfect one half of a 2-piece "collection").
Nice tutorial by the way, but that's just expected here anyway. :)
Exactly.. My two piece would be what I'm currently wearing, skx007 on my left and this retro Gshock on my right. Been doing this every Friday for a couple months😁 -really like that Seiko uses blue for Saturday and red for Sunday on the day wheel❤
Thanks for the kind words, and yes, the 5610 was always one of the best bang for buck gshocks put there
Same though here, I have the 5600-B1ER and can't read the time unless i bring the watch at the perfect angle or fire up the lighting. The inverted screen looks cool on internet but it is not.
These are the best tutorials on g shocks period. Great!
I was waiting for this! Thanks a lot
Thank you so much, I got 5610 and set it up watching this video today❤
Thank you very much for the videos about this watch. They're extremely helpful.
Best tutorial 👌 You Sir are a master of these watches. Thank you for making this great tutorial as it us so extremely helpful. All the best 👍
Got my first Casio Gshock GW-5000U-1jf and I’m in love with the watch. Thanks for the video it was very informative.
Where did you get it?
eBay
Thank you for this. My instructions were all in Japanese so this was a BIG HELP!!!😀
You could use Google lens and then Google translate.
thank you, helpful, and worked for setting a Baby G bgd-5650-1bjf very nicely!
If you don't mind asking me this: are you satisfied with the BGD5650? I'm undecided to get one myself, the functions are the same but I like the monochrome look much better. I'm also not sure about the size but I tend to think it still looks more masculine and not so ridiculous small like a F 91W for instance....
J’ai seulement des montres mécaniques et wow je suis surpris de voir combien il a de mode et de chose que la montre peux faire . Impressionnant
Had the DW5600, GA2100, and GAB2100.
Finally got the GWM5610U. Wow it’s the best one so far. Next is the GW5000 and GW9400!!!!
I still prefer the DW5600E over the others.
This is so helpful! Love the tutorial and love the watch. Thank you.
Great tutorial! Thank you for those videos of yours!
I am wondering what the differences are between the module 3495, that you are showing, and the module 3496! ?
Is it only the lack of the atomic clock functionality, or are there any other differences? 😅
Thanks for the informative video! I ordered the 5610 from Walmart, and an hour later learned about the 5610u. It has many changes which I'd consider improvements, so I tried (and failed) to cancel my Walmart order. By a happy accident the watch delivered today and it's the 5610u model (their listing was wrong).
I see that as an absolute win. Congrats.
Hello: thank you so much for the setup on this watch , and thank you for your videos.
Have a great day.
I picked up a GWM5610U at Christmas, and never even tried it on. When I saw how small it looked compared to my smallest Seiko (7002-7000), I ended up putting it on eBay. I like the overall look and functionality of the watch, but would like it to have more wrist presence. Not thicker, just a larger case. My GD-350 is a little too thick for my taste (and several of my shirt sleeves).
But there are many other, more massive digital G-Shock models. I, for example, also have the Rangeman GW-9400, which I love as well. But the 5610U is unique in that being a full-featured model, like many of the larger models, it is the lightest and most compact G-Shock. And that's one of the things I love about this watch. It's especially good in the cold season when you have to wear clothes over it - very comfortable and practical.
Thanks for the tutorial... i just got mine today and i love it
Excellent setup tutorial! Just picked this watch up as my new daily🫡
Was between this and the 5000u and I went with this model. Love the color and it does the same exact thing for less money.
Get your hands on a 5000u, I'm sure you will change your mind
As someone who owns both I hate to admit I prefer my 5610; it fits my smaller (6.25 in)wrist way better, is significantly lighter, has buttons that are way easier to push (especially having to hold down the adjust button in several modes to set things…it gets really cumbersome to do this with the 5000u and those buttons do not get easier to push as you wear it which is a bummer), and there’s something about the red line and layout that harkens back directly to the 1983 DW5000C that I absolutely love. While being very sleek and under the radar, the monotone symmetrical “Hero” layout of the 5000u just don’t evoke the same feeling for me even though it mimics the construction of the original with the steel core. It gets a bit boring after a while. Anyways, enjoy your 5610! Never a wrong choice!
@@discoscience I can’t agree more and the funny thing is that I now own them both as well. 😂 👊🏼🤙🏼
The 5000 looks much better than the 5610. I don't like the red...
best video on how to set up your new watch. Casio must link this video on their site.
Thank you for making it so simple to set my new watch up.
Nice video thanks it was helpfull for me . I just bought the same watch now for work.
Terrific video. I'm so envious that you can press the buttons with your bare hands. Mine, and other square Casios I've had, require a tool like a letter opener to get those buttons, especially the SET button, to react.
Great video. Thank You. It taught me all the functions of the watch. Very useful.
Thank you so much! I was not about to read that manual.
This is the only Gshock I would wear, it's so perfect. -only gripe is the glow shuts off too soon when checking time in the dark.
You can set it to stay on for twice as long.
Thank you so much for the comprehensive video! Well done!!
Thank you. This is the tutorial I needed and it is perfect.
Excellent tutorial, your channel has a lot of content I am interested in, SUBSCRIBED !
Cheers for the video! Very well made! May ask what sort of bugs are those? The ones that we can see on the watch throughout the video. Thanks!
