    I have both. I like both but definitely the GW-5000 feels better. Why is the GW-5000 more expensive?: Softer strap; SS case, DLC coated SS screwdown case back (vs resin/plastic); better display; better, more refined color scheme, The GW-5000 goes places the GW-5610 won't; GW-5000 made in Japan (JDM vs GW-5610 Made in Thailand). Is up to the buyer to decide if these differences justify the higher cost of the GW-5000. For many, they do.

      Gwm5610 is made in Thailand, only specific models of square are made in china(collector editions). I truly don’t think it’s worth 150-200 dollars more. Both are extremely durable. I’d say this 5000u is more for collections

    • @e28forever30
      @e28forever30 Před rokem +4

      The DLC coating is also on the case, not only the caseback.

      Two counterpoints:
      1. There is no evidence that the display on 5000u is better than the 5610u. Neither are listed as having the STN (Super Twisted Nematic) display of the all-metal models. The glass (both mineral) are the same too.
      2. The good thing about the 5000u is that not only the screw down case back is heftier, DLC coated metal but the case itself that surrounds the module is metal too. The 5610u, while having a thin metal back plate, only has a resin case around the module. In addition (and this may be important for those that experiment with different bands and bracelets) the lugs are metal, not resin.

    I have Both the GW-5000U and the GW-M5610, I bought the 5610 several years before the GW-5000U. After unboxing, handling, and strapping on the GW-5000U, I have to say I don't know why I waited so long to buy it. The quality difference is readily apparent. No regrets. If someone is trying to decide which one to get, my advice is to get the GW-5000U and don't look back. Oh, and if you want lighter and thinner than the GW-5000U, get the GW-S5600U (carbon fiber strap, titanium case back), it's even lighter than the 5610.

    I’ve had 4 5000s two U’s and 2 1jf’s. I’ve had 6 5610’s one of them being a U.
    Bottom line is the 5610u is a great cheap everyday watch and yes essentially the same but the clarity on the 5K is miles better , the softer strap , the screw back harkens back to the original G shocks and it also has a stealthy no nonsense colourway although the 5610 has the first colourway homage . The 5610 feels a bit plasticky like a toy and the 5K feels premium it’s that simple.

      Agreed same module but the monochromatic look of the 5000 makes it perceptively ‘seem’ clearer as of the straight black and white contrast where as the 5610 is lessened by the multiple colours at play . At least to me it does but it maybe some kind of self imposed Jedi mind trick

    • @jemandthemystery

      While it is true that both the 5610u and 5000u have the same display (neither has an STN display like the metal series), the reason the 5000u can appear sharper are the subtly different shade of their respective screens. That, and the less “busy”, monochrome design of the 5000u combine to give a more tactical, focused look.

    Main reason for taking 5000U for me would be the metal housing. I have a GW5600BC (negative, bluetooth) as daily beater (150euro). However once I fell and ripped of the band making a minor damage/ scratch where the spring was torn out the lug hole. I was able to reattach the wristband but in back of my mind is always that it will fail at some point. What I can't understand why they haven't included bluetooth on the 5000U. But I guess that is some kind of marketing for differentiating it with the GMW5000, though I believe some would prefer the resin over metal.

    I prefer the look of the 5000U personally. But, I do think that given the materials and the weight, the 5610U just must be the more resilient of the two. Also, on the 5000U, it's easy to see that the bezel is lower (closer to the glass). So, all in all, the 5000U is better looking to me, but the cheaper 5610U does a better job at being a G-Shock... imo of course :)

    • @maxmeier532

      @@warriorredeemed215 DLC wears just as anything else. Physical "Form" whatever that means, is 99% identical, so what do you even refer to. • @warriorredeemed215
      @warriorredeemed215 Před rokem +1

      @Max Meier I don't see why physical form is hard to understand and needs to be put in quotes. Yes, DLC wears, but it provides further protection from the steel getting scratched.

    How would you compare the actual wearing experience? I understand the 5600 sits higher, but what about the lug to lug and width. Does it actually look larger? Or are the screen and bezel actually the same size? Thanks for your videos!

    • @AndyinSG
      @AndyinSG  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I would say the GW5000 wears taller than the GWM5610 due to the screw-in caseback. It definitely feels higher, maybe by 1mm or so.
      As for the rest such as display, casesize or length, I don’t feel much of a difference.

    In the Video the Video the 5000 looks brighter. Maybe it comes from the Video light

    Is it just me or the numbers on GW5000U are sharper and naturally blend in with the screen while on GWM5610U they are darker but have uneven ink-stained like colouration and do not blend in with the screen as well as GW5000U?

    HI Andy, I have both and while i really prefer the gw5000u it has a slightly worse viewing angle, it starts to ghost digits in the background/blur out slightly sooner than the m5610 have you experienced this also or do i have a faulty unit?
    for anyone reading its not much of a difference and would still pick the gw5000u if i had to own one, i simply ask to know if i got a faulty unit

    First class Japanese goods sell local, second class Japanese goods sell Europe and America, third class Japanese goods sell Asia Pacific. This sentence was first said by SONY when it was still doing CDS and MD, and has been spread to the present, if there is a Japanese K or H, and there is no screw in the back cover, this watch can not be wrong, GW-5000 I have taken 5 years, very good

      Die GW_5000_U hat ein Stahlgehäuse was nur von Kunststoff ummantelt ist.
      Dadurch ist es stabiler als das der 5610er.
      Das Armband ist aus einem anderen Kunststoff als das der 5610er.
      Es fühlt sich angenehmer an und trägt sich besser.

    Не сказал о самом существенном отличии GW-5000U от 5610, а это то, что сам корпус более дорогой модели изготовлен из стали, и, следовательно, место крепления ремешка или браслета к корпусу , более надёжно, т.к. пластиковые "ушки" модели 5610 могут сломаться...
    Ну и ещё одно отличие : модель 5610 не ложится нормально на широком запястье, у 5000го корпус чуть побольше и нормально сидит на руке.
