This right here is why Carmilla and the other council of vampires were terrified of the fact that there’s a living Belmont. This man SOLO’D Death himself and lived to tell the tale...Absolutely extraordinary..
Underrated comment right here.
Belmonts pretty much know about everything about everything and even the methods and the tools used to kill powerful spirits/creatures. Knowledge really is power.
And he's not even at his best if we compare him to the last belmont.
And I think Julius belmont is basically Trevor with even more resources and magic at his disposal.
Belmont VS Carmilla, who wins that? She seemed pretty powerful herself. Only the God of the series himself, Isaac, was able to beat her.
@@TheStraightestWhitest I think Belmont takes the win, y’know like I mentioned earlier she was among the vampires in the council who were terrified that there was a Belmont alive.
I love how he's been collecting things all throughout the season to create his dagger. Like a video game protagonist checking all the boxes to get the Golden Ending, which Trevor certainly receives
The show even integrates Castlevania's classic "pick ups" in its story. XD
What was the dagger though?
@@chevyhs he says in the show that it was a special dagger made by a mad magician to perform a murder/suicide pact with god, the dude made to it to be able to kill god so it worked well against death
like when you go around call of duty transit map looking for parts to build the Wonder weapons
@@chevyhs it takes a life for a life
I love how Death's final scream doesn't really register as pain, but as uncontrollable frustration and annoyance, as if to say "I literally can't believe this insignificant ant is killing me right now."
He likely isn't dead. I say this since earlier in the season he describes himself as a "function of the world". Now I take this to mean that if Death were to truly die than people would stop dying as the 'program' that enabled dying has now been deleted and is no longer possible. If this is in fact the case then instead of dying when the God killing knife pierced him he instead dissipated for lack of a better word as in he is still alive and exists but it would take a significant amount of time for him to piece himself back together into a physical form.
@@kaelkirkby9191he isnt actually death itself he just feeds off it
@@kaelkirkby9191 Nah, he’s not actually Death. He’s an elemental spirit, very old, very powerful, but nowhere close to the real thing. Which is why he dies in pretty much every game and nothing bad happens because of it.
@@kaelkirkby9191While he is a function of the world, he’s not exactly necessary to maintain it with his presence. Think about it. Kill enough people on a large scale to never go hungry again. If all life was wiped out, no more need for Death. So you see he’s not a needed function because he doesn’t perpetuate the cycle of life and death, just feeds off it like a leech. That is the key distinction.

What's interesting about the beginning of this fight is that it shows how trevor is actually the 1st belmont to actually fully control and use the morning star whip at its full potential something no other belmont had been able to do.

Trevor literally killed Death with the worst sub weapon: a knife.
You be surprised how that weak sub weapon has saved Playthroughs.

@@arkthompson9869 To bad he wasted the holy water on Dracula and his wife.

"Killing you was the point. Living through it was just a luxury."
Another person in the family tree: "And make sure you reproduce just in case you do die."
Belmont is the spirit animal of the Death Corp of Krieg
"You're just a human being"
I find this line funny, 'cause I feel like the worldbuilding in this series has established that pretty much everything non-human isn't much more than a "thing" or function of the world. Yes, vampires hold territory and weave plots and march conquests, and yes, there are demons that can fully eviscerate someone with a single swipe of their arm, but in the grand scheme of things they are bound to fulfill a singular purpose, no matter how hard they might try to do otherwise.
They are limited to those things. Either by their need to constantly feed on blood, by boundaries between worlds, by being physically incapable of interacting with the things they need to cause great change... But men are free to do as they do. It is always a human being that causes events to transpire.
Yes, i kinda interpreted this message in the serie. In the end humans are pretty much the only ones able to go against their very nature and be the absolute best human can offer or the worse, the show really felt humanist to me but that's because i do want to believe in human capabilities of doing exceptional things, so the way i interprete the show is probably biased ahah
And that's what makes Isaac so interesting in the process because he ends up breaking that boundary by guiding his own army into something MORE than just monster, than just, "things". They're now building, they're gaining sapience, they're steadily having their own personality, and developing loyalty for him as their leader. That's a far greater accomplishment than any vampires or spirits had done on their own.
It's rather like Greek myths, where the gods are powerful but have no real agency. They need heroes to do their bidding, even though they should be able to deal with most issues like a minor errand.
The word is a catalyst.
Belmont certainly qualifies.
I dare say its more then just that. Remember that the Castlevania lore heavily mirrors our own world from the time period, up and including the Roman Catholicism faith and symbology, giving rise to the fact that "holy water", actually has the power to purify the area that a demon cant touch without burning away from its touch. If we go deeper, humans are made in gods image, and thus we as humans are the inheritor to that power by will and faith within it. When Death declared "just human" he as a "thing" does not recognize the one who created him as well in the universe, though in other lore it is well established there is god, and even the devil at play in the universe. So "just human" basically reminded Trevor of that faith, and that the faith in who he is there to protect and existance as a whole allowed him to reach in and tap that power imo. It is showcased in the series, and fiction in general over and over with such a "trope".
Trevor's calm little resigned smile as he falls to what he believes is his death is one of the best moments of the series. You can see the peace and acceptance in him. "Sypha's safe. Saint Germain is dying. The Rebis is defeated. Death will soon be a thing of the past. My work here is done, time to rest."
Also true, However, there will always be demons, monsters, and sinners in the world of Castlevania. There will always be a Belmont in one form or another.
@@zodarsenal977 case in point being the upcoming series Castlevania: Nocturne which focuses on Richter Belmont.

I like that Death doesn't try to dodge, and only seems to block when the Morning Star actually hurts it. This is a being so full of itself, it literally calls itself Death. It believes itself immortal and invincible, so blocking or dodging are completely foreign concepts to it. Blocking would mean something could hurt it, dodging would mean it fears something touching it. It is so perfectly arrogant that, despite having plenty of time to dodge, it tanks the blow that kills it without a second thought.
But it is immortal.
Even defeated here death isnt gone, he cant be defeated, he will always come back.
The question is how long will it take him to get back to the physical world
To be fair with just a village worth of souls Death being to tank the most strikes from the morning star whip out of everyone in the series without being visibly harmed besides flinching from pain or being blinded, he does deserve that arrogance.
@@consumerjtc5835I can't wait to see how Bathory's force field stands up to the morning star if Richter gets his hands on it. Folks are already starting to mumble about how she might have a better defense than Dracula- let's see her tank a few hit from that, haha.

Treffy*
Julius being OP is hilarious when Soma asked him how he managed to defeat the monsters with resurrection powers without a seal, and he just nonchalantly says he hit them so hard they couldn’t regenerate in time to prevent their death
The tiny detail that always gets me just before Trevor smiles peacefully, certain of what is going to happen next and fully accepting it, is the gentle twitch of Saint Germain's fingers. Because Trevor protecting what he cherishes, willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, results in a man who made all the wrong choices for the longest time to finally, finally, make the right choice that counts and redeem himself.
I just now noticed that little twitch of Germain's fingers myself, and I'm willing to bet good money that whatever Germain did with that twitch is the main reason why Trevor managed to actually survive what should've been a suicidal self-sacrificial attack to kill Death Himself.
@@Serpentking789 That is precisely what happened.
@@Serpentking789 You are absolutely right, and the cooler thing even, is that Germain's key had no souls left since Death had just eaten all of the souls inside it to become this huge and powerful.
So the only possible way that Germain could have saved Trevor with the Infinite Corridor is if he used his own soul to open it, which makes Germain's death all the more poetic I think, he messed up really bad trying to revive Dracula and empowering Death, so he gave his own soul at his last moments to make at least something right for all his wrong doings. Both him and Trevor are redeeming themselves in this finale, just beautiful.
The fact that Trevor dodges what is intended to be the killing blow by simply *refusing to fall again* is absolutely wonderful.

That is one vulgar Death incarnate :) to be honest that is what i love about this series. They could have made Death a cliche epic BBEG but instead they gave him a actual personality with quirks, character development and motivation.
@@anomanomom239 >implying death doesn't have personality, character development, and motivation in the games *cough* portrait of ruin *cough* curse of darkness *cough*.
I love how often they work in things that seem like they’re straight out of a videogame. Like in Season 2, when Belmont gets a weapon that’s a straight up upgrade in every way, the Morningstar. Or in this season, when he assembles an legendary quest item piece by piece by finding the parts of it scattered throughout the map. It’s just like when you do a side quest with multiple parts in a videogame that results in you getting an overpowered quest reward
Or when Dracula unleashed his wrath in the form of a giant lava ball slowly rolling down towards his enemies.^^
@@Midnight.Creepypastas Kinda dissapointed that Dracula didn't teleport like video games. Only once maybe when he found out his wife is dead. And Death didn't summon sickle all over the places, but yeah still a good show
Every fight in this made me think of a video game.
Its also very much like a DnD campaign. Main character starts in a tavern then is caught in events that far exceed his abilities alone. He has a backstory that links him to the events and links up with other people that have similar ties to the events then through their adventures helping people they get better gear and improve their skills. They take down the big bad that turns out not to be the big bad then do it all again this time fighting the real big bad for an emotionally fulfilling end.
@@brokenpieces5852 tbf castlevania is a video game, and was one of the 1st to use said concepts in games. So it fits perfectly.
I just want everyone to know, this moment is exactly why this series absolutely nailed the video game to tv show/film adaptation. If you can make fans see things AND MAKE US think of the games from indirect references is the way. Blatantly shoehorning things in because you think fans will like it because it’s from the game hurts because it’s exactly that, shoehorning it in with no context or respect for the source material always hurts. Placing things in without direct or over focus works much better. When I heard Trevor talking about The Belmont Clan and their origins being old and French to then see a picture of Leon Belmont in the vault made me smile big. I didn’t need a 10 minute description of Leon, as soon as I saw the painting I immediately knew who it was.
Exactly, i loveeedddd how they referenced the clan's origin to the first Belmont who started it all. And it brought me back to Lament of Innocence.
Just finished the series and that final blow into the dead silence and then credits had my jaw fucking drop. This series was insane, and I am SO proud to be alive in the timeline where, while Castlevania games are struggling, there's hope in the form of this series.

Yeah, saying stuff like that to heroes is like a guaranteed trigger for a "Power Of Friendship" type power up, then its all downhill for the bad guy after that.
Man, Death was legit something else. You know you are the final boss when not even the vampire killer hurts you, and you are only vulnerable to a weapon that was literally made to kill god.
Trevor isn't using the Vampire Killer here, that's the leather whip he uses in Season 1 and most of Season 2. Here he's using the Morning Star which is different from the Vampire Killer
@@connorhilchie2779 no the morning star is the true vampire killer that is its true form also the leather whip has the belmont clan crest on it there for its not the true vampire killer its an al chemical whip which can become another vampire killer with the sacrifice of an innocent soul on the bridge of turning vamp also trevor used the grand cross which is the ultimate f evil power of the clan while using the vampire killer.
In-game continuity: Morning Star whip is the upgraded form of the Vampire Killer.
For the show, none of the whips have been confirmed to be the Vampire Killer, just two separate whips, the Morningstar Whip and a slightly, consecrated leather whip.
I like to think that the Morningstar is the Vampire Killer in the show, honestly.

Richter = runs away from his greatest fear
Trevor = runs towards fear itself
Richter has ultra-ptsd and blames himself for everything, he's also younger and it's the very beginning of his arc. Trevor took a long way to get to this point, he didn't start there, and this is effectively the end of his journey. Richter still has some ways to go.
Richter was just a child and was completely traumatized. (SPOILER) Also he stands up to his fear in the later seasons.
I still cannot get over this scene. Trevor is the fucking man. As soon as that blade came and Trevor caught his last wind. The chain scene just gives me chills every single time.
"You're just a human being"
Understatement of the century. He's not just a human being... He's a Belmont.
Nah it's the perfect statement despite their mythology Belmonts are just human beings but they are the best a human being can be people ready to die at a moments notice to save strangers to save criminals, to save everyone just for the sake of humanity itself
Trevor is just a human being but that's all that's needed
Additionally, saying "JUST" a human being is also an understatement. This entire season seems to have that motif running in the background, about humans being far more fearsome creatures than what most supernatural beings give them credit for. Belmont brings down Death, Hector tricks the vampire sisters, the villagers stand up to the enroaching vampire army and rattle even the likes of Striga with their determination to fight to the last man, and Isaac destroys the vampire fortress and slaughters Carmilla. Every time, the humans are underestiamted, treated like lesser beings, and every time, the big bad monster in the darkness gets its teeth kicked in for their trouble.

Keep in mind that Trevor had been nonstop fighting for weeks, and had just finished fighting an army of Night beast, and some wickedly powerful Vampires. And he STILL took Death out Solo.
Trevor Belmont is a BEAST!
Both Sypha and he were both incredibly fatigued by the time they fought in Targoviste and it showed. Sypha was taking hits she had easily dodged before, and Trevor was feeling the hits he was able to brush off before. And then getting to Death was no easy matter. Trevor was on borrowed time, but he wasn't going to let that stop him. He was likely unconscious for a long time before that crazy horse found him.

@@mrog2433 Some purest would say its not a true anime because its made and written by Americans and not Japanese. Even though it is in literally every other way

This scene gives me goosebumps every time I see it. Going up against something you have no business in beating and coming out on top, and alive at the end. This whole show was amazing from start to finish, hands down my favorite anime.
“You’re just a human being.” And sometimes that’s all that’s needed to beat someone like you. A human being with a drive to make the world that much better.
Now without the plot armour, a human being fighting the Primordial personification of Death would get them squashed into the ground.
@@HighLordoftheBathroom this is absolutely true but can’t say Trevor didn’t get his shit creased in the process lol
@@Able141 probably almost literally every bone in his body broken
And a god killing suicide dagger made by an ancient wizard, along with a legendary heirloom magic weapon.
Dante killed death with his on weapon Dantes inferno
Honestly, this fight is so well-done and incredible, but one of my absolute favorite moments besides when he dodges death's blade and then actually kills death, is when he closes his eyes in acceptance at the last moment. He's at peace because he accomplished what he set out to do, which was to fight for and lay his life down for others, and because he did this he could accept his own death.
_"I'm Trevor Belmont, of the House of Belmont, and dying has never frightened me."_
a good bluff
I wouldn’t forget the Belmont crest being destroyed either. I think that it’s symbolism that Trevor fully completes all the belmonts’ goals (killing Dracula and protecting people from death, by killing death in this case) so they could all finally be put to rest knowing the world is better now.
To be fair, he knew Sypha was pregnant with his child so he knew that it wouldn't be the end of his line
@@anmolt3840051 it could also be that he was okay with sacrificing himself to take an evil out of the world that he knew wouldn't be there anymore to hurt his partner or their child
@@user-N20Agreed. To sacrifice yourself to eradicate the most evil incarnate being in existence would be the greatest feat.
One of the rare Netflix series that actually ended and ended GREAT.
I hope the sequel series is just as good and is able to avoid the cancel Reaper.
This fight is…truly amazing, the final strike of the Morningstar…was the attack used in the game, a massive overhead swing
And that extra second on the Morningstar…to show he’s…not coming back, and he hopes it makes it on without him
Such wonderful little things that really strikes home with a fan of the series, so great
If you slow it down to 0.25 and look carefully, at 1:01, you can see a brief flash of a close up of Alucard's face (from when he came out of his coffin when they all first met) and then at 1:02, there are two brief flashes of Sypha, one of which is of when he caught her in his arms after she was freed from being turned to stone. It makes me think Trevor was thinking of them during this fight.
I love pausing at any frame and getting some absolutely unhinged frames of Trevor's face
He's basically had enough and decided he was going to beat the shit out of this monster for daring threatens his friends. And he wasn't going to let a stupid little thing, like this being "death", be an issue in that beating
I saw the sypha one not the alucard
i can't see alucard
@@gabrielreed1096 It is EXTREMELY brief, even at 0.25x speed but it is the flash of beige/brightness right before the very first frame of Sypha at 1:02. I didn't see it properly until I was going through frame by frame in a video editor. Specifically, it's the shot where Alucard says "And what am I?" before Trevor calls him a vampire and they fight in episode 4.

Deaths personality fits so much. I love what they did to him.
Same.
Minus the cursing.
@@HighLordoftheBathroom the cursing fits him though, he's sick and tired of having to deal with life, he fucking hates life
@@HighLordoftheBathroom Cursing fits him. Trevor recalls that he isn't actually Death personified, just an elemental spirit that took on the name. Essentially, he's not an actual function of life, just a parasite that feeds off of it and doesn't contribute anything to the world. His vulgar personality perfectly presents that.
"Oh he fell down"
This just goes to show how strong Dracula was. Not only was he able to 1v3 some of the most powerful characters in the series, of which, one literally defeated death on himself. But Dracula was also able to gain the upperhand in the fight, and on top of all of that, he hadn't drunk any blood in a year and was heavily depressed.
Dracula still isn't as strong as a full power Death. Trevor had to use the murder-suicide dagger that is effectively an instakill and bypasses Death's durability and power. Death's size and his overconfidence did him in here.
@@TMega5612 you do know castlevania are games right? Dracula always IS the most powerful and death only comes in second.
@@aleidpalentinos1256 I don't think any Netflix Castlevania fans played the games
Actually I'd say it's not as fair as a comparison here. Because obviously they got stronger AFTER Dracula's defeat as well. Like it's very reasonable to say that Dracula would've been hurt as much if not more by Trevor alone with the upgraded morning-star. Not to mention all the other various artifacts he picked up along the way.
@@somethingwithultra7231also, Trevor was ESPECIALLY pissed in this fight
And he was only regularly pissed during the Dracula fight
When it's actually the player who has a 2nd phase in the boss fight.
for those unaware , try going thru the frames step by step around the 1:00-1:10 mark , the visual storytelling in this series was/is just perfection imho ; Death says he's going to kill Sypha and in this fight Trevor is thinking about her and Alucard and everything they've been thru , probably wondering what would happen if he failed , if he fucks up , knowing how much is at stake , knowing whats on the line , truly gut-wrenchingly emotional/powerful stuff ; this whole series is just a masterpiece , period/fullstop
I KNEW I WASN'T GOING CRAZY! I always knew I saw Sypha's face for a single frame in that attacking rush, but I couldn't find it on x0.25 speed.

Every character has depth and this fights are just like the actual game. The boss music is immense too.
Although we know otherwise, I love the way Trevor has this smile as he goes out, Death's terrified screams in his ears. He's won and he knows it, but more importantly, the people he cares about are safe.

Trevor you became THE GREATEST of the Belmont name along with the first Belmont 😤👍
What about Julius?
Trevor isn't the first Belmont nor is he the greatest Belmont
Got to love Trevor effectively faking out Death, just as Death brings down his sycthe and has committed to the attack. Then perfectly dodges it and just owns him from that point on.
Its almost the perfect examples of both "I still have 1 HP left" combined with the classic ".....my turn."
How many players have ended up with their "Dormammu" save and managed to bring victory out of it? When you are deep in a boss battle or about to be in one and you accidentally quicksave with barely any health or other support. But you choose to push through it or have to go through who knows how much previous gameplay to get there again.
You lose and lose and lose until you start seeing the key actions you can make to persevere, and win.

I just realized something. At 1:25, you can see Trevor holding the dagger in a reverse grip. In season 3, when he fought the mad monks, one of them was holding his dagger in a reverse grip, and Trevor commented that you can tell from his way of holding the weapon that the man is a professional assassin. However, just before stabbing Death, at 1:54, he switches to a straight grip. In context of that scene in S3, you can tell this simple movement symbolizes Trevor's growth from an unscrupulous, embittered anti-hero - a "killer", as he introduces himself to Death - to a true hero.
Dude, great catch.

he should've added death to that sentence.
If one looks closely before Trevor Belmont stabbed death to his inevitable doom, you can see the Saint Germain with his last ounce of strength touch the infinite corridor in other words saving Trevor Belmont's life before he dies from his mortal wounds.
Death has been winning over his life since his family was killed. It's only now Trevor is strong enough to start taking back his life, sick of the despair and death following everywhere he goes. His fight with Death isn't just literal, but symbolic.
