I've just seen the Doobies live in New York and this still sounds amazing today. I love these guys very much, been a big fan for 53yrs.
God almighty!!! Amazing. Do it Michael!!!
Who is here in 2024 listening to this awesome music?
Me I'm here
Me 72yrs old and still rocking with the boys, and in New York at MSG.!!! FABULOUS as always.❤😊😊❤
Great Band!!
1st concert I EVER saw.
The Doobie Brothers in Tulsa, 1976.
Snuck in the bong!
Had the time of our lives!
Copeland, we got oofed, didn't we?
😂
Michael McDonald would have been only 24 years old.....
Just saw them in T-Town, again.
Awesome. 🎉
One of the greatest bands of all times
1979 I was driving a tractor trailer when this came on the radio. The DJ said "you're traveling south on A1A with The Doobie Brothers" and I was. The beat sounded like a big ol' machine and MMs voice was as smooth and laid back as the view of the Florida coast. Great song and great memory.
This is not the Doobie Brothers as far as I'm concerned. I don't know why Michael McDonald was taken into the band, but his music all but ruined the Rock&Roll Doobies that I loved. Thankfully the band went back to what they did best minus you know who. Rock on Doobie Brothers!!

Iconic Voice, no matter where you are, if he sings, you will know who it is, and pay attention
i agree!! nearly 60 yrs old and it is still minute by minute!!
I agree !
Genius song
If the Doobie Brothers and Michael McDonald started out in 2024...
they'd be famous all over again.
Seem them a couple years ago and they sound exactly like this 💯 No LIE!
The amount of talent on this stage is almost I overwhelming. What incredible musicians
And the chill guitarist in the chair really gets me.
@@s.r.9320Jeff "Skunk" Baxter did lots of work with Steeley Dan. I was a kid when he left the band and it was big news.
Wow. I'm a budding scholar of Steely Dan (at 55!) and I'm going to look him up! Thanks for your comment!@@kawirocket88
I love the way Jeff Skunk is relaxing on the swivel chair. FANTASTIC
At 78 in 2024, I'm still holding on "Minute By Minute." Thanks Michael for another great tune.
Me too brother!❤
At 75 still living the sound....

Michael’s voice has its own spot on the stage of velvety honey soaked voices. Special.

Absolutely
Michael McDonald’s voice gives me goosebumps. And that intro! Genius!
Can't wait to see them this weekend with my son! ❤
Took my Sister an Brother in law to see them last year at the Youngstown Amphitheater what a wonderful evening of Rock and Roll!!
Incredible. Steely, Eagles, and Doobies. Most amazing songwriters, musicians and harmonies.
Chicago
@@shesgg-maker8987 they dont compare to the 3 groups listed above. They’re still great though
You are very limited ....
Yeees. Classic. Blue eye Soul. Michael McDonald Sang Baby sang.🎤 🎙 🎹 🥁 🎸 🎵 🙏🏾🤏🏽❣🖤💚
Yes!!! All of them... real musicians that gave us classics thank God!!!
Adore Michael's voice 💕💕💕💕
“Call my name and I’ll be gone.” “You’ll reach out and I won’t be there.” Very powerful lyrics.
When he comes in with that it gives me chills every time! SO powerful!!
Its 2021 and Micheal McDonald and the Doobies are STILL THE MOST LEGIT SHIT OUT HERE.
We are in the presence of greatness. These guys are the absolute best, this is LIVE and it sounds identical to a studio recording. Absolutely amazing talent here, it doesn't get any better, these guys are legendary.
Seen them a couple of years ago in St. Louis, they sounded EXACTLY the same 🤯 Straight 🔥💯 I haven't enjoyed something like that in a very long time🤩🤩❤️
@@Farrah_76/ I bought tickets to see them this agost 7 / 🎵🐱
New Year's Eve, 1978. The album had only recently been released and my cousin brought it to our family party ... I have loved it ever since!
I have owned this album in every form...vinyl, 8-track, cassette, CD....
The album was nominated, they competed against themselves with Minute By Minute and What A Fool Believes at the Grammys that year. What A Fool Believes won Best Record and Best Song. Minute By Minute won for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group. Just incredible talent all coming together. It was and still is a joy to watch and listen to. Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald are on tour this summer. Hoping to see them live.
Mike's voice is amazing, he's been underrated, he songs on some of the most famous songs in history of rock and pop
That Voice an one of my favorite by him an always will love his songs am fool that believes ❤
That piano riff at the beginning is everything life has to offer 🔥
The black church stole that! Lmbo😅
That opening gospel-revival keyboard intro is one of my favorite intros of any song.
Don't forget about Earth, Wind & Fire. They were incredible song writers , musicians, harmonies and vocal. Especially vocals. Just had say that because they were ahead of their time. But Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Hall and Oates were awesome as well. Hall and Oates won the most awards of any duo in history. And they had fantastic vocals too. Man-eater, Private Eye, Sara Smile, Method of Modern Love. They were all great. I miss that era. Music just isn't the same anymore.
ME TOO. Gawd, I miss the 70's...
EWF horn section was ridiculously good!!!! Understated
My 11 yr old son and I love the Doobie brothers and so excited they finally got in the Hall of Fame. About time
Just love the soulful pipes of Michael McDonald...Smooth
Steve Tavao Michael brought the jazzy funk groove to the Doobies during his time with the band.
Manny Canaday thanks Manny😊😊🖒🖒
Beautiful, simply said, a midnight voice.
Magnificent harmony's spot on 😊😊😊 balance ⚖️ perfectly put
the doobies really transitioned smoothly from rock in their early years to funk pop and I love both sides.
Another smooth groove from the legendary Doobies. Their harmonies r INSANE!!!!! Michael McDonald's lead vocals r always irresistible!!!! Shoulda been a WAY bigger hit. Title track from their very best album.
Absolutely PERFECT vocal, no autotune, this is when people sang without phony electronics. If only they made music like this today, if only.
I had to listen to MM singing the first part again a perfect human voice, no bullshit no computers
Listen to some Aloe Blacc my man.
Used to be able to get a burger, fries and a drink, plus change back from a dollar. Also, hey you kids, get off of my lawn
@@sadaksaraI agree with you , they do. It's just a shame though because it isn't promoted anymore through mainstream radio. Soo much music now , which is good and bad. You have to search for the gems. Not to say all radio music was great back in the day but if your favorite songs were played the memories of listening to them on the radio with your friends is timeless/priceless. Theres just something about a tune being played on the radio that elevates how it's perceived.....to most anyways. Agree with you though, so many great musicians and music will never be known famously.
The singing style reminds me of Greg Allman. Always loved the Dobbie Brothers.
The Santa Barbara Uni concert from 1982 is fabulous.
Phenomenal Doobies. Michael's voice..❤❤
Personal opinion, but when this guy took over the vocals the Doobies stopped being the Doobies and just became a backing band for a middle-of-the-road singer. The Doobies lost their rock edge and signature sound.
One of my all time favorites. Saw Michael McDonald last year such a great voice
michael mcdonald: one of my all time favorite male vocalist/musician :) Love the quality of his voice.
Notice this ISN'T the studio recording--they're playing it live to make an official video. Not too many bands good enough to do that.
Right!!?

Most were forced to do playback
Facts!
especially n 1978
Saw them many times in Atlanta! This is real, and exactly how they sounded live. Michael just has that voice!
That intro gets me every time !!!
Gospel chord progression in the intro. Real talk.
Lester Abrams wrote this song. The intro is what he remembered his grandma play....playing scales upward to warm up her fingers i.e. chord progessions. Lester is now a music director for a large San Diego church Wonderful man.
Me too
I was baffled by the count for decades!
Couldn’t find the 1.
I figured it out by listening to the pre bridge.
The count starts at the last word “I’ll be holding ONE 2 3 4 ONE 2….(or ONE and a 2 and a…..)
Most of y’all knew this. I couldn’t get it click for some reason.
Voice of sweet honey....and the Band of Doobies...Timeless, Lord Bring Back Real Music in Jesus Name....
This one and What a fool believes are so damn good.
Same!!!
Takin' It to the Streets..
Real love was nice too!👌🏾💕
Gospel chord progression in the intro. Keep up!
This song was sitting at the #14 position on the Billboard Hot 100 charts 40 years ago this week, 6/23/1979.
Michael McDonald is amazing singer this track is really amazing.
amazing
I just know nothing about there back grounds but i know he sings good tunes
What about his keyboard skills ? Equally amazing .
The dude is a triple threat 😁

Long before Jon B !
I had the same thing when I first heard what a fool believes. But then I found a video of them performing it and I was kinda surprised. But man what a voice. Of course Tiran being on the album cover also made me think that 😂 super talented group of guys.
I always thought Bobby Caldwell was black
The same with Hall and Oates
Michael McDonald has so much soul
Another great song by The Doobie Brothers !!! 🙂
Hi
Just saw him & the Doobies last night, Brandon Mississippi Amphitheater 😎🥃 Just and brought tears to our eyes, just as awesome and talented as always🌅🌴I’ve seen them in NOLA 77’, when I lived in Glen Ellen, CA could hear them practice through my windows, when they’d hang out @ Cohn Winery in 80s-90s, saw Michael solo @ Konocti Resort, Clear Lake, CA in 88’😎🥃🥰👍🏼👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 AM DAMN GLAD THEY ARE STILL GOIN STRONG!!!❤️🌴🌅
2024 anyone?? This song just popped into my head ❤❤
Yep. And looking forward to seeing the Doobie’s, September 2024~ California.

Such a great smooth lyrical song.💕

My favorite song of this group
I agree with you! It's second only to "What a Fool Believes." Meredith Watts
Michael is so soulful!

Woo, that bridge.
I love this song and they and Michael Mcdonald rock. And the keyboard sounds cool.
Just love this, takes me back ,the memories , THE BUSINESS
One of the best tunes from The Doobie Brothers :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!!
Agreed!!!!
Oh they had A LOT of great tunes. Check out their stuff from the early years.
I miss 1979.
and..Indeed
I miss the 70's........
Me too.....
If only we could all go back to 1979 and meet up there.
I took my time and mastered the keyboard section of this song. This kind of music structure hands down separates the pros from the auto tune generation of music. I'm from the old school of which before you got on stage to perform you how to read music. This is a song that no remix can be done. It's a well written composition.
What A great Tune & Voice.....................
My first live concert ❤
Classic
Great music. I saw Doobie Brothers this year in Adelaide, they rocked. they may be old but hey they rocked so much. They put a lot of these new artists to shame. Keep rocking DB.
My son, 19 , says, " These Old Timers hit the stage with spot on notes like were highlighting the previous night, as well!"
The doobie brothers are life
YES. They. Are!!!!
What a FANTASTIC song by The Doobie Brothers !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Carla Linton. Another one of my favorite songs by The Doobie Brothers is called. Minute By Minute. This is one of my favorite Old School Jams back in the day.
Truly amazing music .. there will never be another MM , voice is exquisite!!

The best album about God that's ever been made
Goose bumbs! Damn!
Love my Doobie Brothers!
Kenny Loggins said in an interview he tells MM to open his eyes while playing! I love them.both
Michael digging deep, those closed eyes coming from the soul 💯❤️
Super cool
Michael McDonald, when he is performing with the band, brings a more mellow, soulful sound to the music. And you can hear it in this song.
Obviously MM is a once in a generation talent, but the talent level of that whole lineup is so high. Skunk Baxter was on a lot of records, but really any one of those guys could've been professional session players they're all that good.
Love the Doobie Brothers! I always have, and I always will.
