  • Reviewing the overall gun, Taurus is a full sized gun and is not part of my EDC but I loved it and had to have it for my collection. If I forgot anything please forgive me as it is hard to remember everything while you're recording

This is the only Taurus gun I've never had any problem with and would buy without hesitation. One thing I do like about Taurus is that their customer service is great (at least all the times I've had to deal with them). People seem to forget that all of their firearms have a lifetime warranty, so if for whatever reason something goes terribly wrong with this they can just send it back and not be at a loss.

I agree with you. The Taurus PT92 is a wonderful handgun. It's beautiful and well made. It is very reliable with ANY ammo, as you stated. The smoothness of the slide is one thing that I love. Also, there are Mec-gar magazines for the PT92, which are the best made on earth. Taurus did a really good job. I like them better than the Beretta. Great video, as always.

It's awesome to see a woman be so passionate about firearms. I think it's pretty cool that you (along with other women) actually have a love for firearms, and show it. Some people just stand and talk about their firearms, where you can tell you have a real passion for them. Great review too!

Excellent review, thanks for taking the time to break it down too, I was waiting for that. Wow, what an eye popper,... you're right, a must have for a collection. own a pt92 and a pt99. i believe the 99 has a decock lever. taurus USED to have quality control problems 20-25 years ago, but they are amoung the best. if i were a cop, i'd trust my life on them. plan to buy this one as well. they are, essentially, a beretta with a taurus name. years ago beretta made their guns in brazil as well. the italians sold the same machinery that the taurus guns are made on today to the brazilian government rather than pay to ship it back to italy. the brazilians to this day make their guns on the same machinery. very good guns. AND I'D LIKE TO SEE MORE OF THESE VIDEOS BY WOMEN, AND MORE WOMEN ENTER THE SHOOTING SPORTS....GET WITH IT, LADIES!

Lovely piece of steel! I don't have one of these bad boys yet, but it is #2 on my list to buy. I do have a Taurus PT38S that is my daily CCH, and have had the pleasure of owning a Taurus PT1911 AR in .45ACP. Both are flawless shooting and fun. The PT92 is a very nice firearm. I cannot wait to get my hands on one.

I have to say, one of the best videos on the Taurus PT 92. Simply a pleasure to watch and I do agree, an awesome pistol. Is it big? Yes it is (it's a full size). Howerver, my wife enjoyed shooting it at the outdoor shooting range the other day and she did pretty well for a person that hadn't shot anything at all yet. Can't wait to go back with my (our?) Taurus PT 92 (and it's a 1998!).

You're correct, over the years, Beretta and Taurus have kinda parted ways with being interchangeable. BTW, the Beretta 92 mags can be easily converted for use in the Taurus, by notching out the upper part of the right side mag retainer hole about a 1/16". Do it gradually.
    I loved my PT99 AFS so much, I bought a PT92.
As she stated, no FTE, FTF, or stovepipes, it takes whatever ammo you put into it.

  • @shootermcjj

Taurus PT92 is a great gun and one of my favorites! Mine is black finished PT92 AR, but I really like her stainless version. Was planning to get a PT99, which is like the PT92 but has adjustable sights. After watching this great video I've decided to get the PT99 in the stainless steel version. Taurus also makes a PT100, which is like the PT92 (which is only chambered in 9mm) but is chambered in the slightly more powerful 40 S&W cartridge. If you bought a PT92 you've done very good for yourself!

Back during the early '90s in firearm magazines. One of the good points on the "PT92" is it can be set to,"Condition 1"(round in the firing chamber, full mag, hammer cocked for "single action mode" & safety on). Can't do that on my Beretta 92F.

Hey thanks for the review. I've always like the M9 pistol, but not the price tag. One gun dealer pointed me to the Taurus PT92, and I love the pistol. I noticed some pro-Beretta folks talking smack about it, but really I can't tell the difference shooting both down range. They're both accurate pistols, just one is cheaper than the other. The grip is wide but I got long fingers so it fits well with me. The gun I have is made in 1992, and it shoots extremely well to this day.

Ok, I used Winchester Power Blast and gently rubbed off the factory residue, dust including some milling filings, followed by Hoppes oil at friction points especially under the slide. The finish on my blued version is no longer an issue. So, fired about 75 rounds at the range. Function was flawless. It was freehand shooting, so I can't say accuracy was perfect, but it seemed nearly so. Only issue is the trigger....get used to it, and don't let the after-travel pinch you! This is a solid gun.

I had a blued PT-92 back in the 80's when high cap 9mm's were the rage (the early versions had a 15 rnd mag). I sold it years ago because it just seemed to large a platform for the 9mm when compared to something like a Glock G-19 (I know they don't look as nice). My 92 was accurate, reliable and low recoil. I had an issue with the mag release button freezing but Taurus took care of it without a problem. A 92 is a great value, just a bit large...Nice video, keep em coming.

Nice video. I like the frame-mounted safety on the Taurus over the slide-mounted safety on the Beretta. Don't let anyone tell you there is a drastic difference in the two. Taurus bought the plans and equipment to produce the 92 series off of Beretta. Just practice with it and learn it like any other pistol. Looks like you're off to a good start so far. Cheers !

  • @roentgen571
    @roentgen571 Před 11 lety

The Taurus version is based on the older Beretta design, with the frame-mounted safety/decocker. The current Beretta 92s have a slide-mounted one. Some people prefer one, some prefer the other. I'm a beginner collector of Beretta pistols, and the Taurus version is worth getting just for that fact. Taurus kind of has a bad rep in some circles, but I understand the guns they make that are based on Beretta designs are excellent. They're made on old Beretta factory machines.

I have the stainless PT101. I like having the adjustable sights. The sights don't add any bulk, and I can adjust for different grains. Plus the gun shot tight groups but consistently low. So I was glad to be able to adjust the sights. The only thing I don't like is my chamber indicator does not protrude out, and the polished finish on the fram scratches easily...and had a few light scratches new right out of the box. Not that big of a deal, I could probly buff them out with some mothers polish.

Very nice weapon. I have a older PT-92 myself, minus the decocker and picatinny rail. It's never failed me and mine came with the two 15 rd magazines, I've bought the newer 17 rds and they also work perfectly. I like the fixed sights though, less things likely to go wrong. If I may, if you want adjustable sights, there is the PT-99, which is the same thing just with adjustable sights.

Ok so...I have the pt101. I've looked all over the internet with no luck. The frame is an alloy. And it's some type of polished finish. What would be a good way to shine up the frame? I've thought about mothers aluminum polish because it works on everything. Especially inside the trigger guard isn't as shiney, and from years of handling the part of the grip with the grooves has gotten a little dull compared to when it was new. What would be a good way to polish the frame without damaging the shiney finish?

  • @kchau586

Love my PT92 AFS; my only complaint is the frame quality does not match slide. Slide is beautiful design and then look at the slide and wonder what happen. The alloy frame has a pigment translucent color under light and scratches are easily noticeable. From a distance, its an great looking gun. Come close and look at details, its not refine.
Gun function well without failures to feed.

(small of back) holster ? It works really well with a sport coat or appropriate jacket. There is nothing wrong with concealed carry and looking good at the same time. D & D ( Dignity and Decorum at all times ). I think I bought 'Ajax Grips' and placed them on the Beretta and it looks great. I love the Taurus more, but bought a Beretta just to have one with the name. Another good gun is the Smith and Wesson model # 5906 (9mm) which should be a little more concealable than a Taurus #92/Beretta . I don't think S&W makes them anymore, but it you find one in good condition at a reasonable price you may want to pick it up. I found it to be very accurate and it was what I took to the range to show off my accuracy skills. It was what I called my ' AT&T ' gun ( reach out and touch someone).

Beretta and Kimber may have the reputation, but Taurus in my opinion based on my experiences makes a better PT92 (PT99) and 1911. I have heard that Taurus uses (or did, possibly still does) a better grade of steel in their gun than Beretta, but Beretta makes a better magazine. I have never had a problem with a pt92 or pt99 mag,but i did buy and use Beretta mags in my guns as well. Every Taurus pt92 or pt99 that I have owed or shot, including my ex's gun has been much more accurate than a Beretta . The position of the Taurus safety is better than a Beretta. I like the finish and features on it better. I don't care for key safeties. they're not really needed.Life tends to catch you unprepared. What are you going to do when trouble comes a knocking ? "wait mr Badguy(s) while i unlock my gun." There are ways to secure your gun responsibly and safely without placing yourself or your family in danger. Taurus also makes a '1911' with all the amenities (bells and whistles) as standard and sells the gun at a reasonable and affordable price. With Kimber you pay extra for the amenities. The Taurus 1911 shoots just as good or better than some/most other 1911s out there. As a matter of fact it was more accurate than the Kimber. Once the Taurus magazine was replaced with a 'Wilson' magazine it out shown/ out shot the 'Kimber'. Why pay all that money for a Kimber or Beretta when you can economically buy a better gun ( the Taurus 1911, the Taurus #pt92 and the #pt99 ) ? I would much more prefer a better gun than a name. In the immortal words of 'Mr. Spock, " It is only logical ". : )

I concur!!! This Taurus has been perfect in every way. Not one single problem. I will never sell it or replace it and that is a fact. Sorry about the shirt and camera angle I guess the shirt needed some attention too, lol

***** My dear young lady, there is no need to apologize. : ) I trust I can honestly say many of us enjoyed your video for more than one reason. : ) I've learned a long time ago no matter what you do in life, good or bad, there is always someone who will find something negative to say. It's refreshing to see someone with your intelligence and enough self love not to fall prey to their negative comments.
