    I owned both the Glock and the Taurus, I liked my Taurus so much, I gave the Glock to a friend of mine. Buy a Glock, you're just buying a name in my opinion. Yea I've seen all the videos of Glocks buried in mud, shooting underwater all the crap. Who treats a gun like that anyway? When I spend hard earned money on something, I take real good care of it, not bury it in the mud.........lol

      You're trippin..I just traded this gun in for a brand new gen 3 glock 17 and the glock is far superior to this gun.i always thought glocks were hype,I was WRONG

    It is a big gun but I carried one for close to 20 years under by suit jacket without anyone knowing it was there. But people just don't wear suits everyday as much anymore. I purchased mine back in the mid 1980's and it has ambi safety and a lanyard. Also as far as I know Taurus has always had the safety like the 1911 since right after taking over from Beretta on the Brazil military gun contract. Beretta is the one that changed the location of the safety by the request of the US government for the military contract if I remember my gun history right. One thing is for sure you just can't beat the PT92 for the price and the finnish is fine plus they are going to get banged up if you use it anyway. Plus, you can have it Cerakoted and then you don't have to worry about it anymore. That's what I did to mine after carrying it for almost 30 years and now it look better than ever!

    I have owned a Taurus mod 99 AF around 20 years now, the finish still looks good,I've put about 5000 rounds through it without a hiccup.I bought this pistol because the dealer was out of Beretta's and have no regrets.

    I have a Taurus PT 99, it was made in May of 1981 in Brazil. It has the same features as your Taurus PT 92, it only came with one magazine 15 round. Great gun and it has been very good on the type of ammunition that I put into it.

  • @blueskylazer

    Have had mine for over 20 years. 99 version. No lazer rail. No decocker. No mag lock. Safety is on frame. Wood grips. 18 rd mags. Has lanyard. Shoots great. Two stove pipes in thousands of rounds with factory reloads. My wife with small hands shoots easily, and, terribly BETTER than me. Very accurate. Springs were supposed to fail, but mine never did. Fantastic gun. Cost over $400 back then, so great price now.

    I purchased my first Taurus pistol in this series in the mid-1990s. Made in 1986 it was the PT 99, same as the PT 92 but with an adjustable rear sight. I now own a PT 92 made in the late 1990s. It has the de-cocker which the original did not have. Both pistols have always run flawlessly. I used the PT 99 to train for my license to carry and for qualifications.

    I got the stainless steel version of this gun, my first gun i ever bought myself, but not the first i've shot. (that was a kit made 1911 .45, which i also now own)
    and i fucking love it. it looks beautiful as fuck, shoots spectacular, and is just a damn manly gun. people say taurus suck, i just laugh at them and walk away.

    One of the best handguns I've ever bought. Be warned it'll fit and feed a Beretta Mag, but will jam appropriately. If you use the standard Taurus mags the gun is meant for, the thing runs without stopping forever. I've put at least 4000 rounds through mine and it's still firing.

    I just subbed. I have a Taurus 92 it is a great hand gun and I know that I have put well over 3 or 4 thousand rounds threw it. I have had no problems with it at all. I pick it up from a pawn shop her in Alaska they had it for $350. When I looked at it I wanted them to field strip it for me and the sales person said that he did not know how to do that. With the maniger of the store over there watching I took the weapon apart for them. It was filthy looked like it had never been cleaned. After seeing that I offered $200 for it and at first the maniger said no. I put it back togather and went to leave and the maniger said that he would take it. After about an hour of cleaning she looked new again. It is a very good gun.

    Great review! Folks kept on telling me to buy Glock handguns and no doubt they're awesome handguns, but I've always wanted something like the M9. I'm an Air Force vet and I know the M9 is the gun we use. I had a tight budget so I didn't want to purchase a brand new Beretta so I researched and saw a Taurus PT92, along with looking at your review. I shot both at a range (M9 and the older PT92 model I bought for $325) and they both shot great. Thanks for the review!

    Was tempted on one of these when they went on sale for $299.99 new a while back (iirc). More interested in the all stainless version though, but I HATE the overly shiny frame and controls. I wish Taurus still made the "Combat" version with the all matte grey finish.

    Thanks for the video. I have the stainless version on order to use as a range gun and possibly carry in a shoulder holster in cooler weather. $400+ tax while the black Beretta was $585. I hope I have as much luck with mine as you did with yours although I won't be shooting it as much.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  Před 13 lety

    @x16 Does it have the safety on the slide or on the frame? If it has the lanyard ring chances are it is one of the earlier models, either late 80's or early 90's when they were identical to the Beretta.

  • @straightto8
    @straightto8 Před 14 lety

    Great video, I notice the picatinny rail, so it's also part clone of the M9A1 like the USMC uses. I own an M9, will be uploading a new video on the subject, just comparing to the 92FS. I like the 17+1 capacity from the factory, yes Beretta is 10 and 15 depending on where you live. I would most definitely open carry the Beretta, but certainly wouldn't conceal carry it, too bulky, but very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I don't own a Tarus, but they make good stuff, have shot the guns b4.

    @NeverEnuffAmmo the safety is on the frame. and yes it has the lanyard ring. its a very great gun i have put well over 1000 rounds and not once has it jammed or failed to eject. another thing is that the taurus emblem is following the title

    When i bought my first 92 Taurus back back in the day i'm pretty sure that the safety was always on the frame and not the slide. Did they change that and then put it back on the frame?

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  Před 13 lety

    @GunzCoty This pistol is lighter than a steel framed 1911, but is wider than a 1911 because of the grip and the double stack mag. So it depends on what makes a bigger difference to u, weight or size.

  • @vulpixgrant
    @vulpixgrant Před 11 lety

    When I think of 9mm I think of the M&P that was my first new gun and the first gun I ever purchased for myself. ( Had hand me downs before ) I have over 3,000 rounds through it with less then a dozen miss fires. I'm talking Tulu ammo, Winchester white box bulk crap, everything I could find cheap for the range short of re loads. Eats hollow points no issues. Bought the Compact version to go with it.
    That being Said, for a Large gun the Beretta design is now incredible. Great rugged design.

    My T92 was made in 1986. It has the frame mounted safety, but no decocking safety. I think they added the decock in 1994.
    If the safety was supposed to be on the slide, John Moses Browning would have put it there... :)
    The T92 is about the best shooting 9mm ever made...

    Mk. So on the de-cocker, is the firing pin rotating up out of the way upon the de-cock like a beretta? Or if not what is actually happening with the decocker there that makes it safe? Jw'n cause I know how a beretta de-cocker works.

  • @LionSilverVideos
    @LionSilverVideos Před 11 lety

    Dumb question I'm sure, but I'm new to side arms. Dose the pistol have a solid firing pin block. I did not see one lift up above the slide when you pulled the trigger?

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  Před 12 lety

    @datguy781 Yeah changing the mags was because Taurus changed over to a standard 17 round mag with a traditional mag release instead of the Beretta's 15 round mag back in '92 at the same time they changed the safety to a frame mounted safety because of their military contracts and consumer requests because it's a more traditional 1911 style safety compared to the Beretta's safety. If your used to 1911 pistols the Taurus feels better, but if your used to running a Beretta it will feel different

    I bought mine today for 329.99 @ Academy, NIB. I have owned Beretta's in the past, and I think I prefer this gun.

    @NeverEnuffAmmo well both the holster and gun have the hooked trigger guard...only it looks as if the trigger guard on the gun is slightly thicker and it wont close over it/

    @JohnFromSpace Yeah Taurus bought out the Beretta factory in the 80's and have been manufacturing the 92 model since then using Berettas own specs, machines, supplies, and even the same people that worked for Bereetta were brought on to work for Taurus. Some people actually perfer the Taurus model over the Beretta because of some changes made to the pistol by Taurus that alot of people like, but I think their both equally excellent pistols.

    when you rack the slide to put one in the chamber, the hammer is back in single action mode. You can let it down or cock the hammer back again for single.
