As a flute player in music school myself... you should be holding onto the barrel when you assemble the flute... otherwise keys like high/low C trill and C# trill will be bend easily. Some new in-line G flutes are also very very delicate

My band teacher always told us to not put the head joint completely in the body joint. Why is that? She never actually explained it, just said to do it.

you're honestly not supposed to touch the keys at all.

It depends most of the noise depends on your lip but if it's gonna change like music you'll need the keys

What if the head joint is too loose to the body? I have a cheaper flute and the head joint likes to turn and will not stay in the same place for long
