I would’ve been pissed if he didn’t put a coin in the bank at all but hearing the clink of the coin fall inside put a smile on my face.

I believe we should shine a light on the injustices of the past and help each other to do better. It's possible to restore lost objects respectfully without celebrating the nasty intentions the original makers may have had.
Great restoration, and yes this coloring has a lot of history in America, but we can all respect and appreciate a great job of restoring to its originality.

When we restore a classic car with hand built coachwork for Pebble beach, you have to leave the weld marks under the fenders where the parts were gas welded and hammered flat. They mask them off when applying filler to the rest of the inside of the fenders so they show later. On a 1930's Alfa I did, we had to save the stenciled body number for the car by cutting it out of the rotted wood seat frame and inlaying it into the new wood. Pit marks and air holes in the aluminum castings of Duesenberg valvecovers are left in after polishing ....instead of welding them up and ruining them because the new material doesn't match the 1929 aluminum. It's only original once
