- 3M Scotch Dispenser m-96. Made in U.S.A.
In this video i try for the first time POWDER COATING, let me know what do you think and how i can improve.
This tape dispenser is made in America, but i don't know exactly where.
Maybe you can find.
This are all the information about it :
Scotch Dispencer
for use with "scotch" brand pressure sensitive tapes
CAT. NO. M-96 MODEL 161
DEFINITE LENGHT DISPENSER
PAT. NO. 3,102,670 MADE IN U.S.A.
3M Company
I start this restoration by disassembled the scoth dispenser after that cleaning and removing the beautiful sticker.
After that as you can see i recive a beautiful parts washer fro Kai from IBS Germany.
After all cleaning was done in Parts washer i start stripping the paint with a gel stripper.
To remove rust i utilized a Rust remover from England
MC-51 IS A REALY GOOD PRODUCT!
To polish all the shiny metal parts took me so much time and so much dust from cloth wheel.
After days of work i start reassembly this beautiful machine.
I hope you like it ! And i really appreciate if you let me a thumbs up and comment!
Huge thank to all of my Patreon and PayPal supporters!

Cheese
why
I couldn’t wait to see how the powder coating would turn out. For the first try you hit a home run. Looks great!
Rescue & Restore Someone was just talking about you in the above comments lol
Wow! You’ve started powder coating! These restoration channels have really evolved overtime. Keep up the good work.
I dream of a collaboration where TysyTube restores my mechanics' sandblaster power button, and my mechanics restores TysyTube's grinder start capacitor :D.
That'll be a dream come true!
I thought I was the only one who noticed the capacitor thing I drives me nuuuuuuts!
Hand starting it every time, urgh!
Tim Cavazos Lol every time lol I wanna sneak in the work shop and replace it while he’s not there lol
I've seen people intentionally pull the start cap off of motors - mostly buffing wheels. The motor becomes easily reversible - just a flick of the wheel in either direction when you turn it on... and most will start by themselves eventually after making a bunch of racket... and usually in the same direction... and it can be annoying... and they are thermally protected so in theory you can't start one on fire.
When I read " I lost the sandblast footage" I dam near shed a tear
When i saw the title of this video, i thought to myself how the heck do you connect a whisky bottle to this contraption.
🤣🤣🤣😎
And where do you keep the ice without it melting? 😂
I'm watching these older videos, and the thumbnail had me wondering where you put the bottle? And wondering why all the machinery. Was disapointed but then rewarded with a cool video as always.
i hate to admit how long it took me to get this
If you want advice on powder coating you might want to contact rescue and restore.
true he is the master of powder coating!
I love how they use a smoker to cure the coats, great way to use the volume those things have available.
@@akenjah I like them both..
It's the same guy I think!
@@khouloudbt1 Ben Tahar Khouloud I don't think so... They both have different equipment like the sandblaster, powder baking oven etc.
The tape dispenser came from a time that even mundane items would last and could be rebuilt.
We used to manufacture quality in the United States now it's all disposable Chinese junk.
You do quality work, thanks for the video.
I applaud your first attempt at powder coating but am disappointed that you didn't use that familiar 3M green that I grew up with.
It's a thing of beauty. The black was an inspired choice. Excellent job. Well done.
You should restore that $5 oven. I think the powder coating was a smashing success!
YOU LOST THE SANDBLASTING FOOTAGE!!
unforgivable.
I know!! I am so disappointed, but he still did a great job with this restoration!
Yeah, that's not good.
Well, you can't really go back and reshoot it :)
@@AcmeRestorations he could try to restore the data 😂 or make a new one
엌ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
I like it when you use the paint remover instead of sandblasting. It's more satisfying to watch the scrapping of paint remover.
Oh, scotch TAPE dispenser. I thought this vintage thing poured your evening drink.
Same
Never before have seen someone restore a tape dispenser ,that is dedication .Hats of to you Sir!.
thank you so much 😊
👍 I remember those as a kid in the 60s. I think they had them at the post office.
I'd say that for your first powder coating that came out perfect. Congrats!

That is such a cool device!! I’ve never seen one like it 😮 I love the contrast of the black and yellow, it looks great!
WOW! The Powdercoating gives such an amazing finish once its done! Might be my new favorite part!
Santa's Elves would love this for wrapping presents for good little kids!
I used to see these things, back in the olden days, used at butcher shops.
Great restoration job!
Every industrial-grade anything made in America around the same time as this thing was that weird green shade. Nice work on the restoration!
I was going to ask why would you use powder coating than the usual spray can, but then I saw the final result and realized that powder coating looks really, reaaaaaaaaally good. Good job!! ❤🇧🇷
Powder paint is very good and very fast. And the oven is a brilliant solution and cheap :)
Is this the second one you did I swear I seen this before or am I losing my mind
Same
Yeah he did one before
wasn't it my mechanics who did the first one ?
Lapantouflemagic0 I think you’re right - if not him then HTR?
Lapantouflemagic0 I watch so many I don’t know who does what lol
To add to the comments below, just a couple of things:
- In powder coating, just like spray painting, many light "coats" works better than one heavy one. you want to sort of "mist" the powder on with the gun until the object is fully covered
- Powder coat takes up a lot more space than paint. You want to make sure that anything that you don't want coated is either covered with tape, or greased so that the coating will wash off. If you powder coat a threaded hole, the odds are pretty good that the screw/bolt won't ever fit again.
-That flat wire spring is called a spring clutch, and it works way better with a drop of oil wiped onto the inside. If you run it dry like you have it, they tend to slip and chatter.
Other than that, good job!
I've seen powder painting many times, it's really good and personally I prefer it better than spray.
I think I'm officially addicted to these videos. I jus binge watched for 6 hours, lol
check my las two videos 🥰
Awesome job, don't change anyting.
Greetings,, Kitty.
Oh wow, yeah, that powder coat is phenomenal! And for a first time, you crushed it! Well done!
Beautiful. That mirrored gloss black finish really sets it apart, excellent. thanks.
Wow! With all those components, I'd want it to wrap the present, tie a bow and light a sparkler......good job as usual!
Nice restore! Black and yellow is always so striking. Its a disastrous day when footage is lost, especially sandblasting. A 😢 day indeed!! Thanks for sharing! :)
A jet age tape dispenser. Fantastic!
For serious taping projects at what appears to be the speed of sound.
this was one of the better restorations . i absolutely loved it .tha paint turnes out reallt great keep painting with the new method it really is better
first time Powder Coating ???? dude you're a Natural ! Fine Job, Amazing Results !!!!
That tape dispenser is built better than the cars today
I've used those things for years and they were always that awful green color. The black is just spectacular. Awesome job!
Sliding that back and forth across the table reminds me of that scene in Men in Black when Will Smith drags the coffee table across the floor so he can write on it. Good job, looks awesome.
Maybe if I had a tape dispenser that size when wrapping Christmas gifts I would not always be losing the tape that I KNOW I just had. LOL. Great job! It looks amazing. Love the black and yellow.
I love the fact that you respond to comments.
Hell yes my other youtube restoration channel I watch got powder coat. Love it!
The place I was working at last year still uses a tape dispenser similar to this. Everything is super 1950s still
You know you're passionate about what you're doing when you restore a scotch tape dispenser. Awesomesauce.
Yes! Finally! Looking forward to many glossy & glittery restorations!
Just a tip for the powder coating. They make the powder in a large range of colours, but you can always adjust them by adding the powder together e.g. if you wanted a real green colour, but non was available, simply mix blue & green powder together. If it is too dark, add white. Just put in a sealable container and turn it until they are totally combined and hey presto, you have the colour you wanted.
The video looks great and I am so happy to see you are getting sent free stuff from companies to help you. Well done, you deserve it.
Yay love the powder coating👍
Well, I'd call your first foray into Powder Coating a complete success!!! Beautiful restoration!!!
Nice to see you are powder coating! You keep adding to your range of techniques an just keeps getting better and better!
And the 2 screws above the blade are perfectly aligned. Thank you!
It is the best restoration Channel i have seen.
I can honestly say that when you pulled the case out of the oven I was in awe of how well it turned out. Beautiful restoration as usual. I love how the color change made the tape dispenser look so much better.
I've seen almost all of your videos and in my opinion this is one of your best pieces. GREAT job! thanks for sharing.
Bị nghiện bài này từ thời Bảo Thy, ko ngờ lại có ngày được nghe idol mới trong lòng mình Đức Phúc cover lại. Cảm ơn em ĐP vì đã cover lại lắng đọng cảm xúc như vậy
The powder coater has brought you to a whole new level, looks amazing mate!
Aww I love the sand blasting part.....
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’m glad you’ve joined the power coating club! Nice 😊❤️
thank you so much 😊
Wooooow, that glossy black powder coating looks so good! Great job!
DUDE. I figured that thing was a write-off, but now it looks fantastic. Powder coating looks like it's super-satisfying. Maybe I'll get some tools together and try this "restoration" thing.
You are truly amazing. I would have taken it apart and forgot how to put it back together.
Ive always admire your spray paiting techniq but I must confess that with powder coating you will have above top results. Looking forward for the next restoration!!👍👍
That powder coating is amazing!
Love, love, love the powder paint! It gives a much shinier finish and looks more professional.
THIS. PAINT. IS. AMAZING.
Man it would be so cool to see you restore a whole car but piece by piece with each piece getting its own video
GREAT!!!!! restoration.
Wow ! Powder coating brings you to a whole new level of restoration. Congrats, well done.
Awesome clean up job!
Thanks for sharing
I was so disappointed cause of sandblaster missing footage, but then I've seen powder coating and it fully compensated.
Обожаю твои видео! Давай ещё! 👍👍👍
Dispenser was likely made in or around Minneapolis, Minnesota; which was the headquarters of 3M.
Your first attempt at powder coating produced an excellent result. The only improvement advice I'll give is -- keep doing it.
Powder coat paint is actually one of my favourite things ever omg it’s so satisfying just loOK At iT
Hardware store cashier: “how much paint stripper do you need?”
This guy: yes
Inboxtera Pie -also literally every other restoration channel on CZcams.
Wow! That powder coating really does the job! And it seems to color objects faster than the spray paint
You are the master of restoration videos that all others strive to achieve, you set the benchmark. Another beautiful job and a great piece. Thank you. 🇬🇧
You're really good at rust-storing things
I'm glad to see you move to powder coating! I think once you get the hang of it, you'll be very pleased with the results. :) Good video!

Powder Coating was done perfectly
