I too thought over-sexualization was a cheap strategy to sell games. Nier Automata was the first game that proved me wrong and this is the second.

Sexualization is always a cheap strategy to sell something. It can be used for products that are either good or bad, but the sexualized advertising is always a cheap strategy to sell it. Taps into our primative monkey brain rather than our higher moral values and needs.

You couldn't be more wrong. There's a ton of games with sexy women that are great. And heck Bayonetta 1 and 2 are way better than Nier Automata when it comes to gameplay. Games like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, etc. Even if you don't play with a hot woman, they still have a good supply of hot women in the cast. And of course there's also Tomb Raider which was extremely well received and not just because you played as a hot girl. Fighting games and JRPG's are filled to the brim with hot girls as well. There's really no shortage of great games with hot women even all the way back to the SNES/Genesis days.
Performance, game play, music, and even the times you're just chilling doing sidequests are all great. 9/10
I don’t think the story is the greatest thing ever but I really think people are underselling it. I’m not finished yet but it strikes me more as a game that tells its story through the worldbuilding, side quests, and mystery rather than robust character arcs and dynamics. The side missions in particular do a really great job at fleshing out the world while not shoving cutscenes down your throat. They’re worth doing.
It’s kinda the same feeling I had with Armored Core 6’s story (coincidentally another game that got criticized for its story). Very worldbuilding and themes-driven rather than character-driven (even though I did like the characters).

They are all generally the same genre. Sure.

The music is extremely good and fits the atmosphere perfectly.

I think what they mean by repetitive is that it loops too much, rather than the genre itself being repetitive.
It lacks some more enviromental and ambient music in-between the tracks to help space out the loops of the tracks a bit.
Honestly it's something that's easily fixable by just not allowing the same track to loop back to back.

idk about that the reboot tomb raider trilogy are some of my favorite games. the gameplay is solid through and through.
Sad as Lara was one of the first and most famous for strong sexy female leads in video games.
Especially for the start of the 3d era for video games.
Stellar Blade is many developed concepts sewed together. It is not particularly impressive in any of the individual elements, however, the fact that they can put those concepts together and deliver a great experience is extraordinary.
A lot of the companies wanted to do that and failed terribly.
Nah, I think Stellar Blade’s combat, exploration, and level design are genuinely impressive. I don’t like this notion that it doesn’t excel in one area.
The combat is smoother than a lot of games which is impressive for a dev team that has no experience on that front, and the game really encourages exploration in a way that most games fail at doing. Give it some credit.

When I was playing the demo (still don't have the full game yet), I noticed several things that I missed in my first playthrough when i did consecutive playthroughs, and was impressed by the way that the levels hide their secrets. I also was thoroughly impressed that you could go swimming and diving immediately without the need of getting upgrades, which is an obscenely rare gameplay feature in 3rd-person AAA games these days.
This game turned out to be the opposite of a Hack n' Slash. The mechanics have depth and it feels rewarding to learn them.

These days it's the games with good 'assets' that actually play better. It's better to put trust in a developer who cares to make their character look good than one who is obsessed about making her look bad.

Oh no bro they really touched on the music? the game has one of the coolest soundtracks ever, the people who made the soundtrack are the same who worked on Nier Automata sountrack, saying this sountrack is bad is like saying Nier Automata sountrack is bad like gtfo
They just said the music loops are too short. Not that it was bad which is definitely true of the demo section.
But I didn't find to be much of a problem in the rest of the game.
The music is alright, for me it's just during certain sections of the game, it's the same loop all the time. For the first 3 hours, it got on my nerves a lot but ultimately you get used to it
dude it's not the same game or even spin-off. If it's boring and repetitive it's not only about people who create music but also budget and direction of music creation. I like Nier's soundtracks so don't drag its down with your weird logic.

I prefer female protagonists, but that's because I've been mostly playing with male characters since the 80', so I have a few decades of balancing left in me.

My personal experience says its action style is combination of reactive style of souls-like(where you read enemy's pattern and pace then hit them one or two when they are vulnerable) and very proactive style of devil may cry(where regardless of enemy's action you overwhelm them with combination of skills). I was more amused in how the game was well-balanced in mixing them.

@@khaalmalki4039Nioh isn't really geared toward parrying, true but that has nothing to do with what was said. Nioh (especially 2) combat has more depth and almost feels like a fighting game when you handle posture switching, ki pulses, flux, double flux, flash attacks, dodge and other animation cancel, and skills on top. What he meant with Nioh did it better, is Nioh has a better balance of careful reading pattern and waiting for a window of attack, and just powering through and applying pressure to the enemy to interrupt them (and managing your ki without stopping to attack) and quite literally juggle with them, especially humanoid enemies. Stellar blade is fine, and it's a really enjoyable game, and the fight system is fun, but I have to agree that Nioh (again, especially 2 because much more balanced than the first one) did that better and much more technical.

i completely hate to play with a controller so will wait for the PC version but happy to see the game is doing good.
Once you unlock burat skill the vobat just elevate. The burst that you can chain off the parry and the dodge are just amazing. This is one of the best combat released in recent history, way better than ff16 for starters.
In every great game even though the graphics not always be up to par the gameplay is the thing people really need to be looking at🤔 you can have good graphic game but sometimes if the story and the gameplay isn't good the game might suck that's the logic I always ran with🤔 character designs of stuff is like a plus if it's a pretty and stuff
Is Stellar Blade any good? I was a huge fan of Lies of P and all the souls games.
This game is amazing, my favorite part is the combat it’s so fun on normal mode, can’t wait to beat it and play it on hard mode, I’m 20hrs in so Farr and can easily see this being 50hrs game, doing all the side quest and just exploring is fun and doesn’t feel rushed , this is my GOTY so Farr but there are many more games coming this year so we will see
I literally can't put it down, and even when i do, I'm thinking about what im gonna do next time i play the game and what upgrades and costumes I'm gonna collect lol

fan service and good game in general can co exist, but sometimes corpo forgot that only selling out fan service without good game wont make the game popular. A great game is something that has a good base and a cherry on top (fan service)
The assets are a hinge bonus. All they do is add to the beauty
Imagine how AWESOME the game would be if Cohh knew there was more than just your basic square combo. The side quests are also essential to see Eve's character growth and to understand the universe. The lore is fantastic. I rarely ever feel compelled to read through all the text in game's but this world has me just as curious as Eve. The storytelling can be as enigmatic as any souls like if you don't stray from the main story. Some of the best content is in those sub stories. Korean voice language is the ONLY option. The English dub is terrible and is completely bereft of emotion.
These journalists couldn't stand seeing Eve in all her feminine glory, and definitely rushed through it. They probably hate that she's kind, empathetic and humble as well as hot. You can't interpret the story as having a "Smash the Patriarchy" message so that just leaves them further disappointed. Anyone that finishes it in 20 hours hasn't experienced it. There's a litany of secrets in the world that are easily missed.
l Also can see Asmongold absolutely hating this game's combat in the later areas. Especially the boss fights, for the same reason he was so frustrated with Lies of P mechanics.
So, basically the *plot* is still the main selling point.
This has convinced me to buy the game but I'm still gonna wait for the discount period.

Outsite of it's main ASSets, it's seriosuly really good game. It's like combination of DMC,Sekiro and other type of games. They even did the mini games pretty well. Easly best action game this year and won't be surprised if it will be nominated to goty if something won't surprise us.

The soundtrack is amazing. They'll realize as they play more of the game how good it is. So is the story. I think why some of the voice acting is a little wooden is because I'm guessing the voice actors may have been given direction as regards to something I won't be specific about because of spoilers. However, it doesn't really work. As a whole though the story is great.
It definitely is a souls like, just a different flavor than we have seen. But lets be real it's basically Sekiro.

Its not an input delay problem, its an input buffer problem. The game stores your inputs forever. Luckily parry overrides most inputs

Stellar Blade is the first game that made me wish I had a PS5. It looks amazing.
It seems like Ninja Gaiden more than a Souls like. I think a lot of people missed or forgot how other action rpg games were before Souls games got a bigger audience.

It's hard to believe that they're gacha devs first and foremost. The fact that the studio's first ever proper budget singleplayer game plays and runs as well as it does with zero microtransactions is worth applauding I feel. I'm looking forward to see how much better they would improve if they ever decided to make a sequel.
The game is good, but be honest: would you rather play as Eve or as Abby from TLOU2?
i seriously wasn't into fallout at all. some of my friends are, but i couldnt bother. then i watched the show, and i thought the lore and characters were soooooooo amazingly compelling to me. i still am not gonna waste my time playing a bethesda game tho.
TBH, as much as I'm against Eve's censorship now, the first time I saw her I thought "oh, it's one of those games." Still, happy to see the game is being well received. Sad to see Sony force the devs to cover some small bits and dial down gore but overall hope this makes Sony change their minds a little bit on their overbearing censorship.
Comparing this game to lies of P is the same as comparing Devil May Cry to dark souls games, its a rough comparison

Do people with those opinions about overt sexualization in games have legitimate examples of such games being bad? And by legitimate i mean AA and AAA games. Because if not, and i suspect that is the case, then perhaps they should ask themselves where those opinions of theirs originate and by what they're influenced.
I think most people are associating that tactic with mobile and online games.
