    I have a Banshee Enigma a few months now and this bike is a blast! I've built it with 150mm Lyrik, EX1700 wheels and robust tires. Even tho the 63.5 HT sounds slack, handling is imho perfect, especially when considering the sagged head tube angle. This bike feels as capable as my enduro.

      hows the uphill / technical climbs with that slack head angle? isnt the front end wandering?

      depends on your fork offset. get a long 51mm, and you'd find her stuck to the ground at low speeds. but the tradeoff is squirrely at high speed.. so i went with 37mm (dvo diamond) and i can bomb down, climbing takes a little more focus. .but i mean barely, it isnt really noticeable unless you do a back to back offset comparison. @@1982papo

      second shout out for the Enigma. it's dopee AF. imagine having a dirt jumper that's "all grown up" and crushes black diamonds. i ride mine at Hawes. this is NO xc bike. it's down and dirty! @@ridingwithjoshandwendy

    about the iscg. i bent the bashguard by the first slight hit on a concrete edge. bashguard costs min 2x-3x more than a steel chainring. for me, bashguard makes sense only when used as 4 bolt from the outside of the chainring. that design seems more durable. therefore i find iscg useless.

      @@ridingwithjoshandwendy the downside is that you need a old 4bolt system cranks . works not with DM chainrings i guess.

    what are you experiences with anglesets (you mentioned them when talking about enigma)? a found out (for example price affordable work components) do make a lot of them, but you have to check also the head tube lenght too. L-size enigma has a headtube lenght of 130mm, and according to work components website , they do not make an angleset for a headtube 130mm. max is 126mm.

    • @ridingwithjoshandwendy
      @ridingwithjoshandwendy  Před rokem

      You should be fine with the large, the reason for the sizes is that they offset the bearings based on how far apart they are to maintain the same overall change (shorter headtube, less offset, and vice versa)

  • @jmmk7609
    @jmmk7609 Před rokem +1

    I don't think u will need an angleset for the Enigma. Just took mine out for a quick ride today. 11 miles of ups and downs through trees. Did not feel too slack at all. 150mm Lyrik. Likes to.steer at.the feet. Climbs just fine. You will love it. Probably a fair bit more comfortable than your Middlechild.

    • @ridingwithjoshandwendy
      @ridingwithjoshandwendy  Před rokem

      Good to know, thank you! Ya I’ve heard about the softness of that frame, though I’ll say the Middlechild is surprisingly supple for those big aluminum tubes, much less harsh than the San Quentin I had before!

    Banshee has a Loyalty Program going on right now, 25% off frames for current owned a Banshee. if you were local I would let you use that, I had the Paradox but have Phantom now.

    • @ridingwithjoshandwendy
      @ridingwithjoshandwendy  Před rokem

      I’m actually not familiar with Sour, I’ll look into them today! If you’re looking for a playful 29er I’d look into the RSD Middlechild; it’s the bike I ride personally and is a blast! It has sliding dropouts so it can fit a 29x2.4 tire in the back, but you have the option to downsize to 27.5 to run a mullet or full 27.5 if you choose
