    I have the Kalashnikov USA KS-12 and love it. Absolutely zero reliability issues once you figure out which gas setting for the ammo you’re using and the customer support is top tier. Had a trigger and safety issue and they took care of everything at no cost to me. That at least has me sold on KUSA’s future products

    Cleaned and heavily oiled mine when I bought it and it’s shot flawlessly with 2 3/4 buck shot and slugs on the high brass setting. Cheap target loads will give an issue about once or twice every five rounds but I didn’t adjust the gas setting from high brass. Iv had it about 8 months. Big thumbs up from me.

    My Saiga that I bought back in the late 90's always ran fine, even in the 3-gun matches I shot it in so long as I left the gas setting in the #2 position and used factory 5&10 round mags. I think what the problem is with his version is the dwell time is too short with the extra short barrel, where mine has an 18" barrel.

    Damn it...how come you dont know that a NEW gun, S-12 or Vepr for example, is NOT supposed to work on low brass first 100-150 rounds. It's in the manual, at least in Russian manual that I have. Use big shells with a lot of gunpowder in the beginning. After that it will all work like a charm.

      @Joe3 WTF, saiga is a reliable gun, and Veprs. . Quality - it's not a Blazer, but metal is good. Machining - yeah, some minor fuckups can be found. Not a big deal. Considering a price. Do you know how much Saiga-12 cost here? 14 000 rubles. 190 bucks. It's reliable enough, it can eat more than 10 000 - 20 000 rounds easily before something breaks, if you take care of your shotgun, like, lube it properly and stay away from some strange and insane overpowered ammo. Is there more reliable guns? Sure. AK for example. Bought mine for 400+ bucks. Or SVD - bought mine for 790. But that cheap, that reliable, that deadly - good luck finding one.

      @oberonsabetta1798 Před 2 lety +2

      In my experience with semi-auto shotguns you have to feed them some hefty HV buckshot to get them running smooth. It's a sort of "break in" period 🤔 but I've never seen a semi-auto run out of the box without issues feeding low brass during the break in period

    In my experience with Saiga 12s, the longer the barrel, the more reliable they are with low brass. I have a 22” barrel saiga 12 with a stock gas plug and I can’t remember the last time it failed to fire. Out of the box it would choke on bird shot, but after about 100 rounds it ran like a dream. It has never failed with any high brass which I think they were more designed to use. I get why everyone wants a shorter barrel, but I think you might need some after market springs or gas plugs to get them to work.

    • @littlezero6399
      @littlezero6399 Před 4 lety

      @Michael Srite Looking at your post makes me wonder about your overall reading level. I only wrote the post because most S12s come in a 18" barrel length and a lot of people like to cut them down and expect them to run affordable ammo. Your comment was weird and rude.

  • @Maxxula
    @Maxxula Před 3 lety

    I have a Komrad and my experience with it is exactly like yours, ie. ejection failures. The manual says DO NOT run high brass on the low brass setting so I'm glad to see that it didn't blow up on you in the video, I will try that. Plus I put a compensator on it to hopefully help. I too really want to like this gun but I too am not sure I want to trust my life to it. Great video though, thanks!

    I have the JTS AK-12, we noticed the difference in the plastic on the shells made a big difference, some shells are more slick, some are more soft and rubber like and dont feed as well. Shells with too much plastic lip on the front tend to smash while feeding.

    • @Nathan-lc8yv
      @Nathan-lc8yv Před 4 lety

      For a 12 Gauge AK, I have a JTS M12AK and its fantastic. Its relatively cheap and its got an adjustable gas system for different loads. It can also take Vepr mags, albeit you need to modify them a little bit.

    • @codyforsythe2138
      @codyforsythe2138 Před 4 lety +10

      Owning both, the Vepr-12 is just as temperamental. The gas ports on both really need to be opened up once you get into the short barrels. Also, a little hammer work and some slicking up and they will both run great. The Vepr really doesn't like low brass light loads. Takes a lot to get it to cycle reliably. However, I think the Vepr is built better over the Saiga. KUSA copied the 12 guage Saigas perfectly, just like they did the Vityaz.

    • @codyforsythe2138
      @codyforsythe2138 Před 4 lety +4

      @Michael Srite Is your VEPR a short 12.5"? Because I can assure you, once you shorten the barrel down to 12.5", they need quite a bit of work to run. My VEPR ran well at 18", but it still didn't like low brass birdshot. It needed the hammer reshaped and polished to cycle them. At 12.5", the gas block had to be pressed off and the 5 gas ports opened up. Would only run super heavy loads and not consistently without the ports opened up. None of the AK shotguns like light loads. These are made to run off of 00 BUCK or Slugs

    It is a picky eater. While I was
    breaking mine in, I was encountering cycling issues with various birdshot rounds at 1325/1330... mainly failure to eject. The manufacturers guidance said nothing below 1350. Obviously using buckshot would be more ideal normally, but that that’s extremely tough to come by currently. In the meantime, just getting ammo that fell in the recommended parameters had it working considerably better... at least for me*

    With the right rounds I run thru a 25 round drum with ease with my komrad. Which is all I need it to do under 30yds. Can't compare. Short barrel less likely to have your barrel grabbed in close quarters. I've seen vids of people fighting over shottys between pumps. After 75 rounds I get malfunctions & need to clean the port, but at that point I've done what I need to do, or switch over to .45 or 7.62x39 to finish the job

    Remington and Fiocchi will jam my gun EVERY time because they're sized slightly differently. S&B, RIO STAR, and Federal Tactical run flawlessly. But you need the right mags and they need to be tuned for your gun and your load. I learned that the hard way working with Tooth and Nail Armory to get mine to run, but it does run.

    If anyone has a lynx 12 or s12 style shotgun, mine (lynx) has such a hard time chugging along with anything. So i took my gas plug out and I filed down my highest gas setting to make the port about 2 times the size, a bunch of lube and 200 rounds of 6 dollar box of estate birdshot later, and she was running great.

    I have several mag fed shotguns and my Komrad is by far my favorite. Yes, it is finicky. But once you figure out it's quirks, it's very reliable. Using only factory Kalashnikov USA mags(5 and 10 round) and ammo 1500fps or faster, I can't make it NOT run flawlessly. Shooting lots of inexpensive Wolf 1oz. slugs at range for fun it runs great. I also added a Vortex Strikefire and shooting Hornady American Whitetail slugs, it's surprisingly accurate at 50 yds and I'm still hitting decent at 100yds(enough to kill a deer). Hope my experiences with my Komrad helps. Oh yeah, I only run on the low setting.

    My jts m12ak has ran flawlessly with cheap birdshot since day 1 on wide open gas setting, and chokes on 2.75 slugs from the 10rd for some reason, I'm thinking nosediving in the mag with all the forward weight maybe mags need to break in, and slugs seem to run better in the 5rd mags
    It runs 3" steel #2 mags no prob on smallest gas setting and doesn't seem to like buckshot either, so I stuff it with 3" #2 fiocchi, should be adequate inside 10yds lol
    Probably needs more break in and I might polish the bolt and rails too
    It's definitely a heck of a lot of fun and with the right combo that it runs reliably with

I installed the same CAA handguard / grip on the K-USA, just minors modifications as the dimensions of the K-USA Saiga 12 seems different. I strongly recommand to not use K-USA magazines as I have trouble with them and the quality seem very average. Pro-Mag magazines are really good.

    Great honest review!! I bought this gun 4 months ago. It's a TURD! Super unreliable just as you demonstrated. Do not trust your life or your families life with this gun. I have used the factory 5 round mag that came with it, with the required ammo called out in the manual (nothing less than 1350 FPS) and I have played with the gas setting many many times. This gun has only shot all 5 rounds without jamming only 2 times, out of about 25 attempts with the 5 round mag provided. Would be nice if it were dependable, mine is NOT!!

However... i don't see the Police pulling up to the Freeway and changing the speed limit to st, 100mph. I do not believe that they can legally do what they think that they can.
