    I had an M4 in Iraq in 04. Love that shotgun. If I had the money I’d buy one for my home. Did a lot of clearing and breaching with it in Ramadi. Nothing like being first in the door with a shotgun hahaha. Semper Fi

      M4 is the only way to fly. No need for any other shotguns after owning the m4 for 5 years now. Maybe an over under or single barrel 10 guage. Mossberg semi autos are crap in comparison and what pushed my purchase of the m4 is consistent trips to the gunsmith. Mossberg 500s in the army were shit to. Only good, newish. They get sloppy. I treat my m4 like rental car and never had an issue.

    On the Benelli M4, it is also designed to run different types of ammo with lights, optics, lasers and other shit weighing the gun down. That's one of the big factors for its military use.

    • @Papperlapappmaul
      @Papperlapappmaul Před 7 lety +1

      Maybe a stupid question, but how exactly is additional weight on the barrel and/or receiver supposed to inhibit the cycling of the action?

    • @firstcommentcertificationa6695
      @firstcommentcertificationa6695 Před 7 lety +20

      swiss Not a stupid question at all!
      Shotguns that are gas operated vs. inertia operated use different forces to cycle the weapon.
      In an inertia operated shotgun, when the weapon fires, the force of the round going off compresses an inertia spring a few millimeters. That slight compression on a very strong spring is storing/transferring enough energy to cycle the gun and compress the main recoil spring ultimately returning the gun to battery. Think of a rubber ball being hit by a baseball bat. If you watched it in high speed, the ball will deform around the bat and spring off, not just get hit and fly away. Same idea.
      When you add a shit load of weigh to the gun (optics, side saddles, lasers, lights), it can reduce the recoil energy transferred to the inertia spring in that split second after firing (the moment the theoretical rubber ball compresses on the baseball bat), and therefore adversely affect the shotguns ability to reliably cycle the action.
      So for the military, who wants/needs to strap shit onto their combat shotgun, an inertia driven auto loader would never work. The A.R.G.O system (Auto Regulating Gas Operation) in the M4 is remarkably good at taking the weight on the gun and staying reliable.
      Great question!

      Great explanation, thank you very much!

When you can chase a soda can around a hillside with it then change on over to your favorite shotgun and do it all over again! It is amazing just how fast you can point-and-shoot accurately from the hip and it is so much easier on the shoulder! Enjoy, guys!

    As for similar guns being made by different manufacturers, FN Herstal owns both Browning, Winchester Repeating Arms and Miroku. Beretta in turn, owns Benelli, Franchi, Uberti, Stoeger, Sako and Tikka. In the Herstal group, they have a tradition of making guns of different brands in the same factory, so I would expect the FN and Winchester semi-autos, to be made in the same factory. ISTR, that all break actions (FN, Browning and Winchester) are made by Miroku, as are the lever Winchester 1886 and 1892, as well as the Browning BLR, while the Winchester 1894 and SXP are made by FN. FN pistols (and the FN SCAR?) are largely made in the US.

    Your videos are greats guys ! I own the M4 law enforcement model 7+1 and collapsible stock, it was a dream but i finally got it, easier here in France, collapsible stock is legal and the 7+1 tube is standard.
    I had two REM 870 before, and a Mossberg 590 Mariner before before. I think my next pump would be a 590A1 standard 8+1. I'm a fan of 12 gauge. But the M4 is the king of autoloading i think. And what a look ! Regards from France !

  • @seanwhite304
    @seanwhite304 Před 5 lety +3

    Yes Benelli M4 , M1014 , and H20 Models IMO are the best . The Versamax is my 2nd choice .
    For Pumps I'm Def a 590A1 20" fan . The 870 is an absolute classic . I only choose Mossberg because barrels are cheaper and can be found alot easier.

  • @Aaron.Monroe
    @Aaron.Monroe Před 6 lety +2

    The M4 takes the cake in my opinion too. A lot of people in videos never mention the durability also. At certain tempteratures whether hot or cold, guns start to fail. Benelli M4 is designed to continue to work well in excess of both 180 Fahrenheit and minus 100 Fahrenheit. A human can't survive those temperatures without special clothing so basically if you're alive then it will be alive too. It passes water, mud, snow tests as well as high altitude drops. There's a reason the marines use it as their designated shotgun. It is pricey, I bought mine for $1,999 plus tax but it does more than what the cheaper guns will do. People who prefer pump action do so because the semi autos can fail and one failure can lead to you dying in a gun fight. The M4 can reliably function for at bare minimum 25,000 rounds before you have to replace major parts, meaning you are guaranteed 25,000 rounds before you gotta change any parts. It beats all other semi auto shotguns in testing every time and is not only used by The American troops but also Israeli, South Korean, United Kingdom, Mayasian special forces as well. If your special forces use it, then it's one hell of a weapon. It's the durability and reliability that sets it apart from everything else.

    On the 870 plastic vs steel trigger guard/FCG assembly I’ll say this. In 14 years of running a gun-shop and working on used guns and local PD guns. The only 870’s I’ve seen that would not run at all...either had so much wear they would no longer lock up (and that was an extremely worn several decades old one) or a police magnum that road in a leaky and humid trunk of a cruiser that the disconnector ect had completely rust-welded itself to the trigger guard/frame. It sat in mineral spirits overnight...got oiled...and in the end I literally broke it free with a punch. After a lot of cleanup it was fine...but NOTHING could have made that gun work in the field. A plastic or aluminum framed one would have been fine. (servicing it more than once s year and after realizing the trunk in that unit leaked would have been nice too-lol But even 870s and Glocks are not “cop-proof” I actually quit championing the police magnum version after that.

      The re-release just came out within the past few months. It doesn't have too many goodies, I think maybe an additional commentary and it has a few hours of interviews with the cast and one with Christopher Nolan. Probably interesting, but I haven't gotten into that part yet. The new transfer is very crisp! Although, I didn't mind the extra grain on the previous transfer as it gave it a film quality to it. Pawnshop I used to help out at in NC had a model 1897 come in one week while I was on vacation. They sold it for less than $400, and yes, it was an original. Noone put the effort into doing any research into what it was, to them it was just an "old shotgun". A policeman bought it, he was a class 3 collector and knew what it was. They about died when I showed them what it had been worth.

    TopEnd Semi-auto shotgun: Baikal MP 153 with TacStar 870 magazine tube extension! they actually have some advantages over much more expensive shotguns like the Benelli. Primarily, their ability to cycle. The gas piston system is heavy-duty and wraps around the magazine tube underneath the forearm, and it’s self-regulating for light and heavy loads. They really mean it. The gun has no problem going from 2-3/4″ shot to 3.5″ slugs and back.

    • @yadjekim
      @yadjekim Před 7 lety +2

      Practicing room to room with 20rd sucks. You have to reach around the drum, making your lead elbow stick way out. I prefer 10rd sticks. Easier to carry. You can distribute the weight of several mags on your body in different places and you can keep your elbows tucked in going through doorways. If I were posted up in position for defense or an ambush, drums would be far superior. S12 all the way!

      Saigas very in quality by quite a bit, some are fine others need a lot of work. on top of that they loose some practicality because of the magazines. the 10rd mags (might as well be 9) are like boat ores. getting in and out of vehicles can be cumbersome. also leaving the mags loaded can deform the shells. in the end saigas are fun ranges toys but are not very practical.

    • @Porty1119
      @Porty1119 Před 7 lety

      It is far more space-efficient to carry individual shells for a tube-loaded shotgun, than it is to bother with bulky and unreliable box magazines. I'd rather use a tube-fed pump than a magazine-fed semiauto. You can't do a slug-select drill with a magazine-fed shotgun either.
