    iMessage I can’t stand when you’re listening to a voice message it will stop when your screen locks. You have to unlock and start over. It’s maddening. Telegram allows you to hear the voice message even with phone locked.

    • @DeputyBurbank
      @DeputyBurbank Před měsícem +1

      @@qazmko22 well, if they are going to allow voice messages to be sent via iMessage then they need to allow the user to hear the compete message without the phone locking after 15 seconds and then having to replay it. Perhaps the phone should be prevented from locking when there is a voice message playing. Or just allow the message to be played with the screen off (like telegram) and put the message control on the locksveen media control panel (like music) so user can pause it if they want. In which scenario would someone unlock their phone and then listen to the voice message and then suddenly have an intruder steal their phone and be able to hear the message when phone is locked? I don’t think it’s a security issue, it’s just poorly implemented. They’ll probably fix it next big update to iMessage. Typically they don’t listen to user feedback for these small logistical issues, they end up discovering it themselves when using the phone personally. At some meeting Tom Cook or Some other executive will say “by the way guys, iMessage voice messages cut off when screen locks”. Gotta change that. The one good thing about Apple is they all use their own devices. Unlike Android where they personally use Apple devices and so don’t notice these little things until there is a huge surge of feedback. That’s why Android has bugs and poor attention to detail for so long… engineers don’t even use the devices on their off time. Only at work.

      It's not really a downfall it's just more thing to do with security if you want to keep listening to it tap the screen to keep it awake or perhaps lengthen your time out for your screen 90% of the time versus letting it time out anyways so it doesn't really bother me having a longer time out in any case most voice memos are less than a minute so not a huge deal for me

    Honestly at this point i wish google mandated an option in the setup of android phones to use a selection of default google apps or to straight up use stock android or to use the tweaked manufacturers skin*which is unlikely.
    Its so weird sometimes that some android users dont know what features are available because their phone uses a different version of an app like dialer or contacts etc.
    Something that sometimes works in appls favour is that everyone gets the same experience more or less and there's no guessing if someone else's iPhone can do something
    On android with the amount of options that are already out has in some cases created a mess since there's no standardised experience.

I've convinced my family to use it after being forced to use inferior options that they suggested first. And I've convinced my employees to use it, mainly for security reasons. But everyone else still uses the default text message app around here, and it's the number one reason most of my friends use iPhone and the reason they don't want to message my android phone. It took years to get my family to switch so I have no hope of getting all my friends to use WhatsApp. Thankfully, with iPhone adopting RCS it should make conversations more pleasant for my iPhone buddies.

    I think we Android users have to swallow our pride on this one and admit that Apple has had YEARS to make iMessage what it is today. Apple was just ahead of the competition with iMessage. With that being said, I’m excited to see what Google has for us in the future with Google messages! Not going to lie, as much as I like Google messages, I wish WhatsApp was the default messaging app for Android phones. That would create some SERIOUS competition for apple. WhatsApp has already done a lot of the features that are considered “apple exclusive” in this video. So, I’m excited to see what BOTH of these companies do to make messaging on android better.

Where I live we all use WhatsApp, but making it the default for Android defeats the point of Android giving its users choice (the opposite of what iOS does). Also, regarding creating serious competition for Apple, WhatsApp probably has 10x the users around the world, it's not much of a competition at all.

    This video missed a huge advantage for Google Messages, at least on a Pixel. That is Conversation Bubbles.
    You can have different conversations displayed as separate stacked bubbles overlayed on top of whatever is already on your screen for quicker access and faster conversation switching. This works for other chat apps also so you can manage chats on different apps as if they were all nearly integrated into a single master chat platform.
    This is a complete game changer of a feature that all by itself elevates the RCS Messaging experience to an equal or better overall multimodal chat experience.
