The depreciation on these will be historic
Shhhhhhh
Probably Porsche Taycan level depreciation 😂
@@abetts1971s1 with the added benefits of range degradation and crippling replacement cost! Woo!
Still better than Model y from 2021
People commenting on every car video about depreciation is getting really played out. Every car has high depreciation once driven off the lot. This is nothing new. 🥱
The roof line at the rear has a hearse look to it...🤔😁
exactly my first thought
Came here to say this…
I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking that 😂
It's just a wagon shape. There's nothing hearse about it.
We need EV hearse.
So this Acura is actually a Honda that's actually a GM. At least it's pretty.
I think gm blazers look better
@@Leah006 The Blazers exterior does look really nice.
Acura is the Lyrq Prologue is the Blazer...
Noooo sir 😂 nothing to do with Honda its pretty much an all GM vehicle
With the shape of the roof and the chrome strip this reminds me of a funeral car. Can't unsee. Lol
You and about half the people on CZcams apparently. And I can't unsee that.
Oh! Didn't see your post, and made the same comment. Must be true.
D.O.A in Canada no one is going to pay $90K+ (most likely over $100K with taxes) for this.
considering the amount of lexus rz i see i wouldn't be surprised if peoples still bought this one too...
@@taejinkae considering I've seen VF8's in the wild. Anything is possible
@@charliet3881 🤣Ultimate touché there.
@@charliet3881 Exactly, with a price of Model Y, I don't understand at all why people buy that VF8. I tested one a month ago, and it's garbage.
It’s sold out.
I’m not a Tesla fanboy at all, but when a Model Y is $54k in Canada (plus qualifies for $5k government incentive), has more range, more experience building and supporting EV infrastructure, supercharger network, etc….how can anyone possibly justify this for over $90k? I can understand some people may prefer this design, but beyond that, the price of this is just wild. If you don’t want a Tesla and want a fast EV, the Kia EV6 GT destroys this for the price.
The only compelling EV outside of Tesla in Canada is the EV9, and that’s just because it occupies a space that has no other cheap alternatives (closest 3 row competition is like 40k more expensive)
It does look better than Model Y and is bit more spacious. After discounts these will be around 60-70k
You justify it in that ten driveways on the block don't already have one. And somebody will actually say, "Wow, never seen that before!" rather then "Eh, another model three ( or model Yawn)."
A Model Y that has awd is $60k+, but it's still a great deal in comparison. But the base Y is made in China, which is surprisingly better in quality than the American-made ones
It doesn't look like a fishbowl or dull interior
They couldn’t reprogram the dash sounds to Honda/Acura? If I close my eyes it’s all 100% GM
They know 99.9% of consumer won't notice or care. It bothers me as well, as I think we're entering a new "enshittification" era with all these EV's.
@@opmike343 You might want to copy write that for future EV releases.
@cbotten106 that term was invented by Corey Doctorow to describe social media websites getting crappier to make more money. It definitely works for car companies cheaping out.
This will 100% damage the Acura name. I could maybe understand it for the Integra because people in the Honda/Acura family already respect the CIVIC and it's not as different from Acura as a GM product is going to be. This on the other hand? All so Acura can wave their hand and say "look we have an EV" even though any true Acura fan is looking to MDX/RDX/TLX and those are the people Acura needs to stay relevant.
@@HuskerDan402 I don't think Acura fans will care; Honda has always been known for keeping a tight budget at Acura. Look at how the Integra is missing ventilated seats and lumbar memory and a power passenger seat, how the TLX has awful packaging, how all the models had the unintuitive true touchpad system in the 2010s, or how the ILX was woefully outdated.
I feel bad for people who buy this…. It’s not even a Honda product. Never EVER buying anything from GM. Ever. As a 2013 MDX owner, I will wait until Honda develops and puts their own bespoke platform on the market. THERE IS A REASON THEY DIDN’T DEVELOP THEIR OWN. They most likely have next gen tech coming, and putting it on the market now is too risky because it takes a lot of capital and requires more testing. So they outsourced everything to GM. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. GM already had a stop sale on these a few months back.
Even better is the recent set of lawsuits over GM/Honda selling all your driving data to insurance companies and people getting dropped or rates increased.
That's wishful thinking. No "nextgen." Japanese are just very conservative when it comes to major change and why they are behind on EV tech.
It will be in 2025 Honda will start to built EV on their own platform
Honda EV just suck even from their own (Honda e - good looking but still suck as an EV). Honda still haven't proved themselves as a good EV maker yet. My reason for Honda/Acura products are still 4 cylinder engine and manual transmission.
This car is more of an SLX than a ZDX. The SLX was Acura's stopgap made by Isuzu while the MDX was still in early development.
Ahh, the references to the OG ZDX. They really were ahead of their time.
Thor gang
They were late to BMW.
I don't know who's making these decisions at Honda, but I'm so disappointed in them...
Probably the same goof who thinks exhaust pipes aren’t cool
And the same person who thought the Integra would sell better as a 4 door
This one was just desperation to make fleet fuel economy standards.
@@DeuceDeuceBravoI agree, also to capture EV sales from Acura fans. It's a relatively cheap placeholder but at least they did a good job with the tuning and most of the design.
Agreed! Someone needs to be let go over at Acura America ! They have been destroying the brand.. if it wasn't for the new Integra Type S. I was going to give up hope for Acura as a whole. I'm really not impressed with anything they have been putting on the market. HONDA needs to go over their and do some restructuring .
That chrome strip on the C-pillar makes it resemble a hearse.
Yep. It's like the designer has never seen one....
Thumbnail pic got me watching
Thanks I try my best!

@@TheStraightPipes Is it really even edited that much?
It's a Cadillac Lyriq. Built along side the Lyriq in a GM factory. There's very little Acura anything to this. It's quite sad that Honda / Acura needed GM to come out with an EV, not just any EV but to bring back the ZDX name. Acura themselves are hoping that loyalist aren't aware they are buying a GM product. Acura technicians aren't trained to work on this. So in the end, why not just save some money, buy the GM version? Another disappointment from the Acura brand. Their partnership already ended.. Such a joke at this point.
Side profile with black roof and chrome trim reminds me of a hearst. Once you see it you cannot unsee it.
It's a very good looking car, but being based on a GM platform is a big downside, especially for the price. It's like an expensive restaurant meal being made with dollar-store ingredients.
In the end, Ultium is a solid platform. We’ll see the winner in 5yrs.. still think hybrids should’ve came first.
Let's hope so, because General Motors kind of has their crown jewels on the line with Ultium.
Agreed. I think everyone hoped the range and charging infrastructure would be a lot better by now.
CZcams doesn't allow links but search for "How GM's Ultium Electric Car Revolution Went Off The Rails"
Honda already gave up on the platform and GM collaboration. You'd be crazy to buy this.
FINALLY a car that showx carplay/adnroid maps in the cluster. i've never understood why others dont do that.
Because some are not luxury brands buddy.
@@jonlosito2004 if i pay 50k for a vehicle i think the least they could do is have that in there buddy.

2:24 how the roof meets the quarter glass with the sliver strip, gives me Hearse funeral car vibes
Was the herse looking swoop on the side supposed to indicate "dead on arrival?"
1:25 that was such a smooth transition, you guys timed it perfectly
It looks like a hearse. Which makes sense considering everyone saying it is D.O.A.
Innovating the hearse, now electric so you don't disturb the corpse in the back. 😂
Just got done with the dishes. Excellent video, guys!
9:38 is an underratedly courteous move. Common straightpipes w
Yesss I am not the only one that dislike black wheels. Slick silver wheels are much much awesome and luxurius.
When you’ve put so much money investing into something people won’t buy you may as well release it anyway 🤣
Is Yuri wearing a nomis sweater lol I haven't seen that brand in yearssss , love it nomis is og af lol
Yeeeeee dawg. Nomis gang all day. Dug this ancient snowboard gear out of the basement. You win comment of the day
Not sure if I like Acura Blazer or Chevy ZDX better
Bloody sure the ZDX Blazer is way better😂
Cool looking ev. Love the tigers eye color.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for censoring the "hey Google". Donut just had an ad recently that triggered my room speaker three times in a row. So annoying!
I appreciate the effort!
Interesting car, too.
Telling me this is basically a rebadged Chevy is not a good sales pitch. Lol.

@@TheStraightPipes Yuri had me fooled in that sports coat.
To be fair, the interior is nicer, probably the sound system too.
That chrome trim after the C pillar makes it look like a hearse.
1:25 nice transition if people are paying attention. 😊
You can't have call two-tone cars cool and then show a picture of the Baja. Love you guys
The biggest problem with the Acura ZDX is that the MDX exists. The ZDX is a 2 row EV with less cargo space and fewer seats than the MDX, but being sold at a price higher than the MDX A-spec. It's like a larger RDX made into an EV.
Granted, I am more comfortable driving the ZDX than the RDX or MDX, but the target audience doesn't want to be hassled with recharging at public charging stations and would just as quickly take an RDX A-spec or MDX A-spec and pocket the difference.
I own the Cadillac Lyriq AWD Luxury 3. In every way it's better than the ZDX. It looks better, has better materials inside and is more likely to turn heads. I also have massage seats.
The ZDX A-spec lacks massage seats and GM Supercruise. You'll need the S-type to get the autonomous driving. You're spending $75k and not getting an interior as nice as the Lyriq's.
The 490HP AWD helps make this a fun vehicle and the available air suspension makes the ride smoother on the 22" wheels, but the interior buttons, switches and display screens look sadly cheap. Maybe even cheaper than what you find in the Chevy Blazer EV (another Ultium sister). You're basically getting a guzzied up Honda Prologue.
I think these cars are going to need considerable discounts to sell, but in their defense, they are more comfortable and livable products than the Tesla Model X, Model S or many other Luxury EV that cost way more.
Most buyers are gonna get an MDX instead.
Agreed and there would not be enough ZDXs built to fill that void anyway. For the Acura fan who has to have EV NOW! That is who this is for.
Is that a Nomis jacket? Brought back some nostalgia for me haha.
Sick NOMIS sweater Yuri!!
The chrome accent strip on the rear quarter makes it look like a hearse
Great review guys. I haven't commented lately, but you're both still doing a great job. Keep it up. I hope you get the 2-mil mark soon. This is a very nice rig and only GMs reliability record has me wondering how successful it will be in the long run. The Prologue too, very nice and a worthy competitor for those looking into an EV alternative. Teslas are still the best in my opinion. Their engineering, efficiency and packaging is still top notch in the industry. The Model 3 still wins most comparison test even when paired with the newest efforts from other manufacturers. For all his quirks, Elon and his team did a fantastic job of turning the entire industry toward viable EVs. I would look into this Acura simply because it looks so much better than the Model Y and X. All of them, however, are still too expensive!
Appreciate it, thanks for the comment!
Really upset they removed lots of the concept car details, like the grill was much nicer. I thought maybe this would be the car my dad should get from our MDX but I definitely think the X5 is the way to go. Also yeah I thought they’d keep the coupe style SUV for the ZDX like the older model.
@thestraightpipes where is Yuri's hoodie from???
Lyriq is ZDX, they have the same 12 module battery, thus charging perf would be similar to that not to Blazer which is mostly the 9module (except for the RWD RS)
Looks awesome like a Acura should look. Could be more Acura inside, however it's good enough.
Since it was designed in California and that there seems to be consensus that the rear quarter panel gives a hearse vibe, it makes me wonder who they used for focus group feedback, and what do hearses look like in California? Still looks very good and unique in my mind, in a world of similarly styled SUVs.
The side profile at the rear (top) looks like a hearse with the way that chrome strip drops down.
3:34 you are right. The side view on the gold one, with that chrome trim, it looks like a HEARSE. Like you are carting around someone who DIED.
Whenever I hear a Canuck say Zed I think of pulp fiction. The last scene his asks about where he got the motor bike from. He responds is a choppa and it’s from zed. Zed is dead baby.
Zed’s dead! 😂🙌🏼
@@michaelmeredith912 zed may have died the worst death imaginable to any movie character. I can only imagine what Marcellus’ guys did to him. 💀

@@TheStraightPipes ah I usually see you with the Pepsi on. I’ll pay better attention! Haha
19:27 I agree! I wish these mid luxury models have colorful interiors for colorful exteriors. Many of the configurators have Red and Blue exteriors paired with only black interiors. I'm shopping somewhere else. I need colors on the inside.
Will it show waze in the cluster?
A hearse would have something like that swooping chrome strip on the blacked-out C-pillars.
OH MY GOD ITS MAGNIFIQUE !!!!
I thought I was subscribed already, and only checked because Yuri changed how he says Z XD
The paint looks crazy and the blacked out roof makes it look like a hearse.
This co-development deal with Honda/GM also been cancelled as Honda is saying they are struggling to get good range with GM's platform plus the slowdown in EV sales.
How does the platform effect the range? Isn't that a function of battery charge?
Do you guys know anything about what happens to fully functional yet still 'pre-production' vehicles such as this one? There is nothing online that I can find about it. From what I've gleaned, some are used as corporate cars until end of lifespan or destroyed after use. Perhaps a select few are kept in company collections (not open to the public).
The way you pronounced Z was inACURAte, Yuri
THANK YOU for not setting off my Google Home!
YESSSSSSS! You finally said "ZEE"!
It's a good looking SUV but it's a gm product so reliability might be questionable in the long run I personally would have made it a hybrid with the already existing type S V6 turbo with 365 HP and add a 200 HP electric motor dude this thing with 565 HP would be lethal on the road and would still be a Honda/ Acura product
6:30 Is that a Datejust Ref. 126333? I guess that Continental sponsorship is paying off!
Bought it 3 years ago
WISH Australia got Acura stuff
You guys can have this one.

7000lbs worth of earth’s materials. This is progress?? Governments need to step back and let consumers decide what they want to drive.
Preach 🙌
It makes sense for areas that get bad smog. A lot of California had that issue until stricter smog laws were passed. There's also plenty of solar power and sodium/lithium grid storage, so EVs work here. Sounds like Canada has more issues with the cold and worse charging networks.
Blame Klaus Schwab for this. Seems like the WHO has control of what many countries must do right now.

Like the looks but the silver line down the side makes it look like a Hearse in my mind.
Stylish design, reliable transportation.
Hopefully it sells as well as the last ZDX
I think, for a first effort, this is a good shot by Acura, other than the price. Yikes! That's a lot of money. Honda / Acura has entered a lot of new car segments with the help of another manufacturer, and then kicked ass once their own product, designed and built in-house for gen 2, came out. They're going to be wonderful, once they start hitting the used market. 😉😅 As always, great review guys. Definite 10 out of 10!
5:31 sounds like an old Windows 95/98 intro almost
OMG you're right

Looks like a hearse with that roof and that chrome piece, love the color, not worth the price and no frunk no sell.
I miss the old zdk! It was ahead of its time
This is a reminder to our fellow American friends down south that GM/Honda are amongst other Manufacturers selling your data to Insurance companies. So dont launch this depreciation rocket too often or brake too hard, your premiums might magically go up.
GM shut that down this week

All these people will be shocked to know manufacturers share parts and chassis all the time. Most 8 and 9 speed transmissions are ZF. BMW, Ram, and everyone else use them soo not buying those either?
Is that Desert Tan now the new "it" color for SUVs and Crossovers?
That color is Baby Diaper Brown, man, I know from experience.

It's like the 80s and 90s Talon/Laser/Eclipse the way companies are leveraging the same car for EVs nowadays
The chemistry between the two of you today is on fire. Good job, great video as always

Shout out Yuri’s Nomis sweater
Another distinction to add with CarPlay direction THIS vehicles does not precondition prior to DCFC. Another vehicle in the near future does this 😉
Oh look it’s a the Cadillac Lyriq
So, to me this is just an update on the concept of the old Acura SLX and 1st Gen Honda Passport. Honda needed an SUV, and used two Isuzu products to fill the need until they could develop their own. In this case, they used GM’s platform to fill a need, and are they probably developing their own platform to come out in the next few years.
The combo platform allow both companies to "test the waters" for future development and breakthroughs of the EV platform.
Your memory is as good as your facts. Stopgap offering to meet CAFE (U.S. Gov regs) for ave mpg and CARB ( California air regs) compliance. Nothing new here, in concept.
Sick GMC bro.
Why don't you guys do box test anymore??
Pricing is WAAAAAY out of whack. Should be $50-60 USD
If I got the zdx I would have to wrap the chrome trim at the top.
3:30 From the side, the rear part of the top looks so much like a Hearse.
Is that color called "Proof that I'm dehydrated"?
Side view looks like a hearse with the black roof and the silver trim.
I wish this new ZDX were more of a coupe design like the original one was. It was really one of the first coupe-ified SUVs. Because it isn't now, it should've been called something else.
