- This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Acura ZDX full-electric luxury SUV. The 2024 Acura ZDX has a 102 kWh battery with 489 km/304 miles of range, 490 horsepower and 437 lb-ft of torque. In Canada standard AWD. In the US there is a RWD option with 358 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque, it has 313 miles of range.
In both Canada and the US, the more powerful 2024 Acura ZDX Type S is available with 500 horsepower and 544 lb-ft of torque. It has 447 km/278 miles of range.
The 2024 Acura ZDX has a bold and athletic stance with a pentagon grille and standard Jewel Eye LED headlamps, LED taillamps, 20” black wheels and a tire repair kit. The Type S model has 22” wheels and a black roof.
The interior of the 2024 Acura ZDX is driver focused and feels more upscale, it comes with some great standard features like an 11.3” touchscreen with Google built-in, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, an 11” digital driver display, a wireless charger, an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, leather upholstery, driver seat memory, heated and ventilated power front seats, a heated steering wheel panoramic sunroof and a hands-free power tailgate.
While the standard features are great, this electric vehicle is very expensive and doesn’t qualify for the Federal EV rebate of $5,000 CAD. In Canada, the A-Spec starts at $84,990 CAD and the Type S $91,490 CAD.
In the US, 2024 Acura ZDX A-Spec RWD $64,500 USD, A-Spec AWD $68,500 USD, Type S $73,500 USD and Type S Performance wheels & tires $74,500 USD. The $7500 tax credit may apply.
With a Level 2 charger it will take around 11 hours to charge your ZDX. With a DC Fast Charger with speeds up to 190 kW, the ZDX will go from 20%-80% in 42 minutes.

“but the price” is the theme for the automotive industry for 2024.
An ongoing theme from the past half decade. Average transaction prices are actually down for this year thus far.

That's what I was thinking hearse that chrome stripe . $$$ cost for a Chevrolet. The dealer better rust proof it will be seating on the lot for a long time. 😞

The price ($91,000 CAD) is absolutely ludicrous! The only Acura that is worth that kinda money, has the letters … NSX on the rear bumper (there are currently three available in Canada for that kind of money). Yes, it’d be used. Yes, it’d have some mileage. Yes, it’s not an EV. But … you’d be the coolest person you know, it would demonstrate to people that you are truly passionate about cars… and perhaps most importantly… you wouldn’t LOSE half your investment in UNDER a Year! Yes… possibly 50%!! Smart money, and for those with passion… it is a no-brainer. Thanks for the video.
Hahah this is cheap compared to the audi evs. The q4 etron which is their cheapest ev is 106k while the q8 etron is 160. Q6 etron going to be 150k. Acura don’t even compare with luxury cars, stay in ur brokie affordable lane. (I drive a 2024 cayenne s hybrid pebble grey and a 2022 m5 comp matte black profile picture)

This is one ev I wouldn't mind owning long term crazy high price aside.Ofcourse with my daily driver when the battery gives out and I can't replace it immediately. Award winning reviews as always motormouth 🎉

@@Slickpete83The model 3 base rwd starts at 53k before tax and rebate. The long range AWD is 63k before tax and rebate. The rebate is applied after tax, so you'll have to calculate that based on your location. Also you don't need AWD in Canada. A good set of snow tires is what matters the most.

INSANE price. Makes No sense to spend almost $100,000 bc society says the price of gas is too high. Not to mention you'll probably have to spend another $10,000 at least, in the future for a new battery. No thanks...easy pass for me. Next...

WTF, $91k+ taxes CAD for a rebadged Chevy EV! Clearly its for compliance, maybe a 2 or 3 MY vehicle at best. If you're really in love with it, lease and make damn sure you get a 0% and high residual because it won't be worth much after its axed!

Expensive wagon hearse. Should have folded seats down and checked if casket would fit. It’s a one and done as you said, but seems to just meet regulations for Acura to have an EV. Not serious into EV until their later models. There are way too many other options for that price for a car that will already be discontinued.
I’m not an Acura basher as I own an Acura rsx type S that has been an absolute workhorse and super reliable. I was hoping they’d bring out a hybrid and stay with the brand but doesn’t look like that will happen

Cadillac Lyriq sold 9154 units in 2023, January -March 2024 has sold 5800 units. So Cadillac with the same platform will if projections hold will sell 23000 units plus. It will probably be less of a flop than the CyberRustBucket.

I love the chrome strip, it sets it apart from all the other cars with no style. You can always get it painted black if that’s your preference.
Nice positive review of what I consider a very attractive product. Let's hope the GM bones don't undermine Acura's customers confidence in the brand going forward. People buying these should be aware of what is under the skin. Hold on tight Andrea that man has a devilish glint in his eyes. The GV70 Electric could have been a "consider" too.

It’s nice enough for what it is but ridiculously overpriced. I suspect Acura isn’t interested in selling many of these as it is a compliance car. Two other criticisms: since they will only sell a handful of these I don’t understand why Canada gets stuck with just a black interior when the USA gets better choices. Also, the design of the interior and dash doesn’t look as special as a $100K car should. It looks very conventional and a lot like every other Honda product. Disappointing.
The battle in EV market will be in the sub 40,000 , most people cant avord 100 grand Ev...going to be alot of EVs on the used market as well...but great review guys..
$87K starting price in Canada 😂😂😂. No wonder people are turned off by EV's and sales are slow. What were they thinking. Also that interior is horrendous for the price point.

Price is crazy for sure. Chrome Delete all the trim should be blacked out. 22” tires? 18-20” are not sufficient? Mileage will certainly suffer. Does this have One pedal driving?

$75000 in USA is just too much for an Acura! Since you have to spend to upgrade charging as well, to many other brands that offer more proven results but it is nice looking and Honda reliability is legendary!
Same here. Hearse was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that chrome trim.
So, if I drive it for 37 years, the gas savings will pay for the car!

My prediction… if you want lose your shirt… get one fast! … as it will not even be around as long as their barely known first generation ZDX (2001-2013). Cool looking vehicle though. Thanks for the video.

Acura Canada just told me they are not doing any hybrids but rather just moving straight to EVs. 😪
And why would you choose this over the Lyriq? Air suspension is not enough especially as it is only on the Type S.

Guys, I guess you are being forced to review these EVs ! What is wrong with Acura??? They had an excellent product from 2018 -2020 (3 years) in a MDX Sport Hybrid!! They should have revived that technology , with new enhancements, in the new MDX Redesign. I own a 22 MDX Advance, which is a terrific Vehicle. Yes, a bit pricey, but compared to the other Luxury Brands for what you get in the fully loaded models, it is actually a Bargain. For about $2K more, Acura could have produced a new Sport Hybrid version which would have been a Complete No-Brainer. Using the same Type S engine , 3.0L enhanced with small electric motors, which provide more HP & Torque than the non Type S (like mine) , 20% better MPGs !, and would have been the same Redesigned MDX not requiring any changes. This MDZ EV will be a Enormous Flop, IMHO.
Would this not be more a GV70e comparison? It looks the same size.

My sister who is living in Thailand, just sent me a picture of her going for a ride in a fully electric regular 4 door car. Good enough range to spend the entire day working as a taxi. Selling price about $15,000 CAD / $11,0000 USD. It’s only a matter of time until those vehicles come to North America America. Even with a 100% tariff, which would be illegal under WTO rules, current sellers have no chance of competing.

Doesn't have a good charging curve. The Silverado is better for charging with 320kw.

These wheels are humungous. They are going to be super $$$ to replace every year. I have a hard time with EVs from one brand to the other. Not sure if makes a difference between Honda, Acura BMW, etc. By the end of the day, these things are going to drop in price so might as well wait to 2027

These EVs all have battery pre-conditioning for cooler/cold temps. Now, will the actual chargers work? That's the question.
My buddy gets around with a 2020 Kia E-Niro, has even done road trips in BC and Alberta and has had no issues.
190 kWh for fast charging is horrible!
Not buying until we get the real thing from Acura
