Standard 8 footer lumber will fit with the hatch closed. I’ve fit 4-2x6’s and 6 2x4’s -8 foot. It was a manual so the shifter would move out the way, stayed in fourth. These are so useful for so many things. 2019 premium 6-speed. The optional anti sway bar under the hood stifles body roll really well.

As an owner of a different SUV... a proper bike test is "are you smart enough to attach a hitch with a bike rack on it"... anyone trying to shove any bike in the cargo area is simply doing it wrong and i wouldn't take advice from anyone doing something so stupid... PUT A PROPER BIKE RACK ON A HITCH! I did this for my daughters bike who rode her bike every day and I literally used a bike rack for speed and efficiency... trying to cram any bike in the back is pretty dumb. Who shoves bikes in the back on an SUV? Use the hitch! (and if you dont have a hitch on your SUV, you're doing that wrong too).

Helpful review, especially the bike test. And I love the color. It is also worth noting that CR's 2024 reliability ratings have the Crosstrek way out in front, so when you talk about value, that metric is a huge plus, especially compared to other cars in this class.

Nice drive. Last month I turned in a 2020 Limited, Pure Red, for a 2024 Limited in Alpine Green. Really loved the Red, but the Green warms my heart too. A little miffed that so many manual controls went from switches to the digital panel. Still learning it, and at 72, it's taking a bit longer. But it's all good, and I love the car. The only addition was adding Bridgestone Blizzaks for the winter here. Appreciate the video. All the best. "The JJ", SW Penna.

So far I’m enjoying it , definitely not spending as much on gas ⛽️ which is a huge plus . Still in the process of getting to know the info screen . Took it for a nice long ride on the side roads in PA , the Crosstrek was gliding 😀 I also opted for the army green .

I test drove a Wilderness last night. 1. Nimble. 2. Decently quiet on the freeway. Huge improvement here. 3. Good headlights, not brightest like Toyota but average to above average. 4. High quality feeling interior (actually really nice) 5. Sporty seats and steering, amazing synthetic leather 6. At sea level not unacceptably slow, maybe the lower gears here help 7. Smooths out big bumps well, small imperfections jiggle the car 8. Good but numb steering 9. Great visibility 10. I couldn't find the home button on infotainment in my quick test drive
This is a 9/10 car. It's excellent. A hybrid would make it 10/10

I have two major gripes with Subaru after owning a Forester for three years: the CVT and the infotainment. I really disagree with Subaru’s desire to move to this large tablet. It’s buggy and just not functional at all. I love the knobs and buttons on my Forester. I know there’s a desire to make things “modern” with touchscreen everything; however, it’s not practical. I would contend that the prevailing majority of Subie owners err toward the practical. The infotainment issues alone were my sole reason for selling my Fozzy. I miss it all the time, but the glitchy infotainment was maddening.

Thanks for the informative review. From my test drive, the suspension set up is very good giving it a nice ride and confidence in handling. But 2 things i noted hopefully the next model will address 1) the rear seats do not have air-condition vents (where I live it can be hot during the day and a rear air-condition vent helps) making it uncomfortable for the rear passenger in a hot afternoon; and 2) a small matter but hopefully Subaru will replace the cable release fuel cap cover with the modern design one where we press the cover to open and close that is much more convenient to use (example of not having to run to the driver's seat to pull fuel cap cover release lever when refueling should one forget to pull the lever once you pull up at the gas pump).

I was an Oil-man working for Drilling Services in Canada and USA. Back in the 1990's = Buying a Honda Accord and/ or Toyoda Camry; it cost us about 2-3k USD or $3-5k CAD less to have bought a Subaru Legacy Sedan/Wagon.
My Subaru was going where FWD Honda Accord and or Camry then could not. One other feature I loved then the most was = when you took off the Key from the Ignition Column = Light will go off disregard of it is on or off Head Light. And the Torque on the Subaru Legacy was about 142 hp; We/I drove the Legacy to Oil-drilling Pads and or Conference Hotel; White with Special Black Bra's on the Hood and Front Bumper -- wider Trim Panel than the Honda Accord or Camry Toyoda. The Original Timing-Belt last us since 1992 until 2019.
Because of high Ground Clearance; I changed oil myself = 10 minutes for Filter and Oil Change. Cost less than 15 CAD since we/I bought the whole Big 20 Gal Can; and bought when Canadian Tires store on-sale 45-55% off. I changed Oil every Quarter or 4 times a year or when I came back from a long Trip more than 3000 km. But I only changed Oil Filter twice a year.
The Subaru Cost us/me nothing since 1992 but once CV Axles and Transmission Fluid... I change Radiator Fluid Drain and refill myself every Summer. The Legacy rides us all the way until this May 2023 was stolen by a Tow Truck that tow Car breaking-down on Highway; and the Police have done nothing about; what's a shame for their Services but other things they Jumped on it like a ....
So, Subaru Legacy or Forester and now the Baby CrossTrek = Forester of Impreza always delivered what I saw Toyoda and Honda Accord could not deliver for that same Price. Change the Transmission Fluid every 40k miles like the Canadian & Japanese market recommends.
Not sure why SOA thinks this is a "lifetime" fluid, when obviously it's not. Otherwise other markets wouldn't suggest servicing it.
It's not the CVT where the issue lies, it's the Valve Body Solenoid within. I couple hundred bucks every few years beats a $6500 repair. That CVT will outlast its owners.

I'm loving my 2024 Crosstrek. I love Subaru's implementation of adaptive cruise control. I drove a Camry for a while and hated its adaptive cruise control. You had to reset it to your preference every time you started the car. The Crosstrek will adjust the speed all the way down to a full stop. The Camry's cruise would disengage at 20 MPH and you'd have to hit the brakes manually.
The Crosstrek has "I" and "S" modes. The "S" mode gives peppier driving, but disengages when the car is shut off. Wish it would keep my preferred mode when shut off.

Thanks for your video. I like so much this color but sadly, the only way to get the Alpine green color in Canada is by buying the Wilderness version of this 2024 Crosstrek! Also, the "Sport" version doesn't exists here.

I use quick release to pull the front wheel off my bike; I can get it in and out before the person in the next car can unstrap their Thule (mine was $25K, tiny touchscreen, 6M and the lowest power engine I think Subaru has ever made; easy oil change tho, and I love it like a golden retriever 😅)

The mechanic refused to fix my Nissan XTerra, it has reached its end of life and he said it’s not worth it to spend thousands that I could use as a down payment on a new car. I am so glad that Subaru has a manual transmission. I am going out later to test drive one.❤

It's not that the Crosstrek is so affordable. It's that prices of other AWDs are insane. The Impreza was still under $20K USD MSRP like just a year or so ago.
It's a versatile little car though. I use my 1st-gen like an SUV...hauling in the hatch, hauling on the roof, hauling on a hitch carrier, towing small trailers, offroading, commuting in snowcountry, etc. It gets better MPG hwy than even some hybrids, with my best tank averaging over 46MPG with the cruise set at 55MPH on flat ground. It has been pretty easy to work on too, but I haven't had to adjust valves, change CVT fluid, or change timing belt yet.
The ride and the rear legroom are surprisingly good for such a small car too.

Good video except the price I think you’re really low on the base price at least the one you were driving the sport and I’m looking at the wilderness Crosstrek loaded right at 36,000 area little more than what you’re talking about!! But still great video!!!

I 100% would have bought one of these (got Forester instead), but 2024 CROSSTREK IS A REDESIGN YEARS, FOLKS! Reliability frequently takes a hit on redesign years for MANY makes and models out there--even traditionally reliable Toyotas and Subarus. Call me superstitious, but I "PERSONALLY" just don't want to take the chance. Maybe will be back for the 2026. Certainly looking forward to it!

Only way the Crosstrek is a deal is if you can get one for under 30k. So many in my area are optioned into the same money as the Foresters. I'd rather spend the +32k or so for the Forester than an optioned out Crosstrek.

    • @danielfair4675
      @danielfair4675 Před 5 měsíci

      I ordered/bought a loaded '21 Limited, it based at $29045.
I optioned almost everything I could and added extras on the side, it msrp'd at over $34.4k
That's still cheaper than the 1998 Toyota 4 Runner Limited I ordered 23 years earlier.
With the new vehicle average price over $46k nowdays, it's a steal.

The Crosstrek is also one of the top 5 slowest cars for sale in the US. So if you live in a high elevation, have to go up hills, like to pass people, etc, you should avoid this car. Also, my mom and sister both had these and they go through about four windshields per year. All Subarus go through windshields a lot.
