@@TommyFenyx Que regiões do Brasil? Desconheço essa similaridade. Pra mim, como falante nativo da língua portuguesa do Brasil, o sotaque angolano lembra mais o sotaque de Portugal do que os nossos. Talvez porque Angola tenha obtido sua independência bem mais recentemente, em 1975, e a do Brasil tenha ocorrido em 1822, o que talvez explicaria uma maior proximidade com o sotaque de Portugal.
@@lievausten3589 Um pouco com o sotaque carioca, que recebeu influência portuguesa renovada com a vinda da família real no séc. XIX. Principalmente os S "chiados" são parecidos. Caçula também é usado no português brasileiro, junto com várias outras palavras originárias dessa região da África devido ao tráfico de escravos.
Pelo que fiquei sabendo o português brasileiro é mais próximo da pronúncia do português de Portugal no início do período colonial, tendo Portugal mudado bastante sua pronúncia depois disso. Isso ao ponto de, dizem, Camões soar melhor quando lido por brasileiros!
Acho interessantíssimo como o português luso lida com as vogais, algumas soando quase francesas.

Looks like Angolan Portuguese is way more intelligible than Brazilian Portuguese for Spanish speakers. My native language is Spanish, and this is the clearest Portuguese I've ever heard.
Actually there are many "Brazilian accents of Portuguese". I think you heard the São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro accents(the most popular ones, considered as "Standard Brazilian Portuguese"), but if you hear Northeastern accent you probably will find easier to understand (even some words with "v" prounounced as "b").

As an Italian native speaker, in all honesty, I have always found it quite hard to understand Portuguese. However, I'm amazed by how much I can understand when this guys speaks! Wow!

I speak Spanish and felt the same. Usually I can´t understand what a Portuguese speaker is saying, but he was very pleasant to listen to and clear.
That's because he's not from Portugal! Most Portugal Portuguese accents have a lot of closed vowels, which need practice before you understand them, whereas most African and Brazilian accents are based on open vowels which sound like Spanish or Italian. Also, he's speaking very camly and to the camera, which is very different from hearing two people speak to each other, be it in Portuguese, Italian, or Spanish!
There's a big Angolan community in Portugal and many words typically used in Angola have entered European Portuguese. For example the "kota" he mentioned is used a lot by younger people as a slang for either "parent" or "old" (although we write it as "cota").
Não se esqueça do "bué (de/da)"; é a expressão da que mais gosto em português e que também é de origem angolano.
No México 🇲🇽 (onde eu sou) e portanto, no espanhol mexicano temos uma expressão bué parecida que é "un buen (de)" (para expressar muita qualidade de algo) e "bien" (para expressar que alguma coisa está muito boa)
Por exemplo:
🇲🇽 Había un buen de (mucha) gente en la fila para las tortillas.
🇵🇹Tinha/havia bué de (muita) gente na bicha para (comprar) as tortilhas (de milho 🌽)
🇲🇽 Esa nieve (ese helado) está bien (muy) buena; me gusta un buen.
🇵🇹 Esse gelado està bué (de) bom; gosto bué (muito) dele.

My native language is Spanish and I also have a significant dominance of Italian. I have had a decent amount of exposure to Brazilian accents and some Portuguese; I have to say Angolan Portuguese is the most intelligible for me, it's so clear! Beautiful!
this is the most articulated portuguese I've ever heard in my life... do all angolans speak portuguese like this? the people from portugal sound kind of harsh and while brazilian portuguese is easier on the ears than that of portugal it isn't as "pretty" as how this guy sounds.

Helder StefaN I just thought of something... is the linguistic situation in angola similar to that of say bolivia or peru.... where most people speak the european language in the cities as a first language while native languages are still spoken in the country side... or is it more like other african countries where the european language is used only in formal situations while native languages are used in everyday life...

People from Angola do not speak this slowly or clearly. For everyone saying Angolan Portuguese is much easier to understand, that's because this guy is reading from a small script and trying to be as clear as possible in order for the sample to be equally as clear. But Angolans use a lot of slang specially with native languages' influence (like kimbundo). A person from Portugal can speak as clearly as this as well and it will be much easier to understand, but Portuguese in Angola is basically as fast as European Portuguese.
Truly you are mistaken. In angola there are 18 provinces and each province adds its own elements to Portuguese which lead the language to sound different. The accent he’s using in this moment is the standard Angolan Portuguese that is spoken by most Angolans. The slang accent is that ur mentioning is an internal thing that is used between Angolans. Angolans have the capacity to code switch and that is why it is different from what ur used to.

Amazing, I speak Italian and I was able to understand almost everything, as if this was a strange, slurred Italian dialect to which I only needed to adapt my ear to. Quite an achievement, considering I get lost with "proper" European Portuguese or Brazilian Portuguese.

i've been learning spanish in school for 3 years and i could understand him pretty well, it sounded super similar. i knew that portuguese and spanish and mutually intelligible, but i didn't think i would be able to understand it.
I am fluent in Spanish and have learned some Portuguese. They are mutually intelligible to an extent, not close to 100%. Generally a Brazilian Portuguese speaker can understand Spanish much better than the other way around, because all the vowels used in Spanish are used in Brazilian Portuguese but several BrPort vowels are not used in Spanish. Written they are much more mutually intelligible, since many words are spelled exactly the same, or similar enough. This video was spoken slowly so it helps, but shows that the Angolan version of Portuguese is still much easier for me as a Spanish speaker to understand than European, which even Brazilians sometimes have a hard time understanding.

I am a Brazilian Portuguese native speaker and he speaks very well. In my region we say the word "caçula" too with the same meaning. In colonization times the African influenced a lot, thus helping shape modern street spoken Portuguese and so on.

I speak very little Portuguese but from what I can understand he went from introducing himself and that he speaks Angolan Portuguese and he was talking about where Angola is located at and the countries next to Angola. The official language of Angola is Portuguese but Angolans speak multiple of languages. I didn't understand the rest too much but I think he said even though Portuguese is the official language of Angola but not many Angolans speak Portuguese.

In my opinion Angolan Portuguese is the most smooth and well articulated of all Portuguese dialects. It sounds so clear and even.
Sounds like a hybrid between European & Brazilian Portuguese. And to my foreign ears, easier to understand than both of them.
Angolan Portuguese reminds me of the closeness the Australian accent has with the British accent as opposed to the American accent or the Brazilian accent to the Portuguese accent. The only place I've heard people speaking a variety of Portuguese that sounds similar to the Brazilian accent is Macao in China.

I speak Spanish and I understood most of what he said. Much more than when I hear European Portuguese and about as much as some dialects of Brasilian Portuguese.
His Portuguese accent is very clear ..if Angolan Portuguese is like this then it's the best Portuguese accent for Portuguese learners in comparison to Brazilian and European Portuguese

Caçula e m'bunda =bunda vem do quimbundo lingua de Angola.
Foram os escravos que levaram essas palavras para o Brasil como o "churrasco". São palavras que vem de dialetos angolanos!

Try to speak to the people at the street and you will see, if it's so easy to understand what they say, you will be surprised, when they speak so fast , you will not understand a single word, unless you are a native Portuguese speaker.

Caçula in Brazilian Portuguese means exactly the same: youngest son/daughter.
To me Angolan Portuguese sounds like a less lazy version of European Portuguese. I swear people from Portugal drop half of the vowels in most words.

Abraço aqui da ilha 🏝️ da Madeira, o vosso português é muito bem falado, fluido.
The truth is that his accent is not "the angolan accent", its one of them. From my view as an angolan, our accent is a spectrum that changes depending on education level, exposure to the native angolan languages, what part of the country they are from and in some cases where they live in the city (in luanda you have different "accents" that can sort of tell where they mightve come from. It's possible that he is slowing down to be more easily understood as suggested by people in the comments but a lot of people also speak like this. Similar to how in portugal and brazil you have different accents, angola also has that too. I also agree with many people that angolan portuguese sounds better (but being an angolan myself it might be biased).
What makes our accent different is that we read portuguese with an african accent. the reason you can group "african portuguese" as a thing is because our accent is influenced by the regional languages (the original languages spoken in the land). many of us dont know or havent connected that things such as where we place words in sentences (breaking standard portuguese rules) have a lot of influence from where languages like kimbundo and umbundo would organize sentences. portugal: vou bater-te. angola: vou te bater (read: votebaté). same sentence but youll likely hear it said that way. we also have the habit of not really stopping between words, a lot of times we'll join the end of a word with the start of another and just transition which when spoken fast (as some of us speak) can be confusing. add to that that we break a lot of grammatical rules (when speaking, although we use the same dictionary) and that we have a lot of words from our own languages as slang (some of which has made it into standard portuguese (bue, kota, puto). we also easily adopt slang from other languages (such as brada (brother) used to refer to a close friend, or pipol (people) when refering to a group of people). e.g: o pipol de luanda. aquele wei e mo brada. (aquela pessoa e como meu irmao)
*some linguists claim that angolan portuguese will be the next big portuguese to develop, similar to how you can easily distinguish portugal and brasil portuguese
Angolan portuguese has a lot to expand on and we are a creative people. i have no doubt angolan portuguese will eventually grow to be as distinguishable as the other accents.

one of the biggest key points is that angolan portuguese becomes very loose (sounding very different) in an informal angolan setting. the language becomes a lot more flexible and we can afford to drop and say things very differently because we understand each other. i have been told by multiple people (from portugal and brazil) that when angolans are speaking between them it becomes hard to understand. i have had people in portugal ask if my brother was speaking portuguese because they could not understand him, he was talking to me and other family members at the time so the people with little exposure to angolan portuguese could only pick up on random words but not make sense of what was being said.

People who are saying angolan portuguese is clearer than the other variants, look, it depends a lot.
A portuguese guy can talk in a very understandable way if he want it.
