Notice the third time the chorus comes around there's no "he said". He's saying it himself, that he's keeping his father with him. It's just beautiful.

I lost my father in 2009 at the age of 89. I miss him so much. I don't think you ever stop missing them. I've been crying for days. Every few years my Birthday fell on Fathers Day. I miss not sharing it with him anymore.

This describes me and my father to a tee. My dad is 91 years old and it's just me and him together now. I take care of my dad and I tell my dad I'm sorry for the way I acted growing up and I tell him I love him everyday. We ended up being best friends and we make each other laugh. I cherish everyday I have with him. Thank you for this video !!!!!!

That breathe was probly him being relieved that he made it thru it without breaking up while at the same time thinking of his own father. This song always brings a tear to my eyes. My birth father was an alcoholic an I lived in a children's home. An I didn't have him in my life much then. But I was blessed to have had the last 5 or so years to bond with him an understand more his pain that he carried with him since he was 16. An those last few years he didn't drink. U guys r awesome always. Oh an it was fun watching Amber fighting back tears
Happy Father's Day J. I think this might be my favorite Conway Twitty song. Talking about his singing style, i heard somebody say after he passed, that "Conway was the best friend a song ever had". And that is a very good description of his ability to lift a song to a whole new level.

He loved me, I was his little girl, but they stole me, and I didn't get to experience my Father's love growing up. So.. I dream about it.. songs like this take me there. xo
I went back to last year 1st and listened to Daddy's hands which was a great song for Father's Day and here again a great song. I feel for you Amber I truly do. I was the only lucky one of my father's 8 children that he had the chance to see get married. I was young 16 but my Father signed for my marriage. Then 2 months later he died. Now 50 plus years later he missed everything he and my mom created thru their loins. We're talking a huge family thru his 8 children and thankfully my mom is still alive today at 91. So many years that have passed but I still remember the day he gave me away. Happy Father's Day, Jay
This made me cry. I am thankful to still have my daddy - he is almost 100. He has always been the best father and loved my mother deeply. Thankful to have my hubby who has always been a good dad, too.

I was a single father of 4, 2 of each. I am now a grandfather of 5 and step/bonus g-pa to quite a few more. Not a 'father-of-the-year' but I did the best I could. My oldest son has no kids but my youngest son is more of a father than I could ever be. (I'm proud of the 'moms' my daughters became as well)
It is the hardest job on the planet but it comes with the greatest rewards.

And my husband's father, who was also Dad to me, passed in 2006. Father's Day is still bittersweet for me after all these years. But this was a really beautiful song!

virtually any song by Conway is a beautiful well done song. very few singers could even come close to matching let alone exceeding the way Conway sang. he was my dad's favorite singer and we played this song at my dad's funeral on Memorial day weekend just a little over a month ago.

My uncle toured with Conway in the 70s and 80s. Got to hear this song in person many times. I was just a kid but it didn't hit me much back then. But now I know I don't have many years left with my dad. Lost my mom about 5 years ago. It's hard to imagine, but we really take for granted how much our parents do for us in our lives.

I remember my father saying how much he missed being able to talk things over with his father. His father had passed ten years earlier at the age of 94. It has been 14 years yesterday since my father passed at age 89 and my birthday is tomorrow. We shared my birthday snd Father's Day every few years so my eyes have been watering since Friday. You never stop missing your Dad.

This has always been one of my favorite Conway Twitty songs, it came out when I was 11, and I was a daddy's boy. I lived with my dad and he was indeed my world, and thanks to him, I grew up to be the man I have and raised two young men that are amazing.
That was from the TNN show Nashville Now.
A couple more Conway songs are "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" with Loretta Lynn, and "I'd Love to Lay You Down".
