I’m a 62 year old father of two girls, 24 and 22, I’m trying to hang on for them. I remember when this song came out. “Grandpa” by the Judd’s is another tear jerker.

“Grandpa” is a GREAT one! My Daddy and Grandpa use to take us all dancing growing up in Texas. “Grandpa” and “Daddy’s Hands” were the songs I shared with them. I miss the good ‘ol days

My dad used to sing this song to me when I was little, he passed in October and I’m heartbroken, but that is what I put on his gravestone “Love Without End, Amen” ❤

Jay - as a man who had to wait until later in life to experience the joy of fatherhood, I’m telling you to never be ashamed when your love for your kids makes you emotional. My soon to be 17 year old son has seen me cry many times and he knows that most of those times have been because of my love for him and my pride for all he has accomplished.

Lost Dad in 2010 at age 95. His hands were gnarled too. His last words to me were "A Dios". Not "adios", but " A Dios". 4 hours later, he headed up the Lord. Miss his warmth and simple plain-spoken wisdom every day. You are 2 sweet-hearted young folks. Thank you.

Country songs are emotions set to music. My daddy died in 1999 - 6 weeks after my mum - and I miss them still. There is something about fathers and daughters; and her dad is the first man she loves. Happy Father's Day Jay xxx

That's my job reminds me of my dad. He was a US Marine, Airline Pilot and Police Officer. Although some would consider some of his work heroic, to him he was just doing his job. But he'll always be my hero. And I will always write little bits of poetry.
We played this at my father's funeral in 1989. I cry every time I hear it
My uncle (whom was a pastor) got killed in a small plane crash along with 7 or 8 or so other people and one of his daughters sang this at the funeral. She sang it just as beautiful as Holly Dunn does here. I remember how much I loved hearing her singing this song. She can SING like a songbird. This song really makes me think of that moment every time I hear it now.
I first heard this song when my sister used it as the father-daughter dance at her wedding. My dad was a truck driver and a lot of his friends/co-workers were at the wedding, there was not a dry eye in the house when they played that song. My dad passed away less than 2 years later. I still cry when I hear it because this song reminds me of my hard-working dad with calloused hands who would do anything for his family. Great reaction! My daddy's hands were always dirty with embedded grease from working on cars, trucks, and buses. Chunks of skin were gouged in places and his nails were chipped. He lived with me for three years before he died at 80. I marveled at how clean and unblemished they became. But they were still the strong, loving hands. Thank you for helping me remember this today!

This song was always one of my favorites. I lost my dad almost 4 years ago, and I still think of him every day. I feel so blessed that when my folks found out they couldn't have children, they chose to adopt. I was, am, and will always be daddy's girl. I believe we will be together again one day. 💜
I haven’t even started the video but I feel like crying already. This song always reminds me of my grandpa. After all the stories my mom told about him and seeing how he treated us grandkids, I know he was a wonderful man. One of my favorite songs, too. What a great choice. Thank you.

The song fit my daddy to a tee!! I've heard it a million times and it always makes me cry. When my daddy passed away suddenly and unexpectedly we played this song at his funeral. I have planned on and still plan on getting a picture of my Daddy's hands tattooed with Daddy's hands written over it. And you should also check out the song "they don't make 'em like my daddy anymore" by Loretta Lynn. Thanks for doing this song even though I'm late on seeing this. 💕💕💕💕

This song should come with a "tissues needed warning." This reminds me of my dad when I was growing up. Other good Father's day songs are "Butterfly Kisses" - Bob Carlisle, "Dance With My Daughter "- Jason Blaine and The Shires - "Daddy's Little Girl".
Someone in the comments said Holly died in 2016 from cancer. I didn't know that so it made the song more emotional. This was her biggest hit. She was a great country singer.
Really wasn't Holly's biggest song in terms of Chart position, but it is about the only one that is still being yet played today. You Really Had Me Going", "Love Someone Like Me", "There Goes My Heart Again" "Are You Ever Gonna Love Me", "Strangers Again", all got higher on the charts. Another of my favorites was "It's Always Gonna Be Some Day". She had so many amazing songs that were never released as singles as well, but should have been. Never got the recognition she deserved, or the big push by radio.

I write songs. So I know a thing or two about that. I say it often. " A great song is one that is written with the best of intentions". When a song is written to someone, or about someone, the audience will feel the emotion that the writer had for that person. An emotional connection that proves we are all brothers and sisters. Next time you see your dad, give him hug. Tough love can be the hardest to appreciate. But it's one of the purest forms of love.

Her father was a gospel preacher for like 50 years. I had his book in my library “Know the Bible”.

My dad died from pancreatic cancer in 2003; it’s been 21 years and I still miss him every day.
Unfortunately we lost this beautiful voice a few years back. But no matter how bad the country establishment treated her she always acted with class. Miss you kid!

I lost my Daddy in 2013 to stage 4 brain cancer. He was my world, and i miss him everyday. He was the best Daddy in the world. He worked everyday as a welder. When i was 10 he had pneumonia he tried to work through it but ended up in an oxygen tent for 2 weeks we almost lost him then but he made it through. He provided for us no matter how many jobs he had to work i was Daddy's girl and always will be. but when i did wrong he let me know. He was very strong until he lost his sister in 1994 to breast cancer he was never the same after that, he changed he was sad and angry because he thought it was a punishment for something he had done, i tried to tell him he did all he could for her and that's all anyone can ask. Then he was dealt another crushing blow we lost my Mom in march 2000 to kidney problems, and his Mom in the same year 7 months later on his birthday. I will be with him soon i have the same cancer that took his Sister, funny how life works. but anyway awesome reaction love to you both from Memphis Tn.
I just want to say thank you guys for doing this one. This song is extremely special to me. When I was growing up, my Dad would get us all around the table a couple times a week and we would all sit for hours singing different songs while he played the guitar. Some songs he wrote, some he learned from the radio. This was one of the songs we would always sing. Growing up I really didn’t fully understand the significance of this song until September 3, 1991, when my Dad went to work and never made it back home. The factory he worked at caught fire, the fire exits were padlocked to stop theft (that’s the excuse they gave) and he was one of 25 people who gave their lives trying to make a living for their families. Since that day this song among others really hits harder than they ever did before. Jay, my tears came right along with yours when you guys were listening. Tears of sadness, pride, happiness, all mixed together. I will never stop listening to it though. I loved that man so much and look forward to seeing him again in heaven when my life comes to its final day. Thanks again for the realness and heartfelt reaction.

this song was played at my husband`s grandfather`s furneral- the man who when he was a child - told him -" you can`t whip me , only my mom," well mom was in the hospital- and being her father- my husband found out that he could -[ a country man from Louisana] when grandpa passed -my husband held his hand til he was gone-then cried his heart out-Happy Dad day !!!! give each other a smile- and a kiss

I've never heard this song, but yes, it is emotional. I have one child, my grown daughter, and I love her and her family, and I'd do anything for her, because she is the most important person in my life. My daughter knows that I am here for her, for whatever she needs, and I am fortunate that she only, rarely asks me for things that are near and dear to her heart. If she needed a heart transplant, and I was a perfect match, I'd give her my heart, because if she wasn't here, then I'd have no reason to go on living. Giving her my heart would mean to me that she would continue to live her life, and that's all that I want for her. I am an old man, and if, by giving her my heart, meant that she could continue living her life, then that to me, is all that I want for her. She is a beautiful and amazing woman, and I am very proud of her. I can only hope that I had some influence on her, as to why she is an amazing woman.

1986 I remember this one so beautiful
I feel the tears too. Both my parents lost their dads way to early (my mom was 7 when hers died). My mom and dad divorced when I was 3 so my relationship with my dad was strained because of my step mom. I went from being daddy’s girl to a visitor once in a while. When he was dying I learned how much he regretted everything. He passed at 57 so my memories are few but I remember him carrying me when I was falling asleep and he seemed so tall and I felt on top of the world when he held me. I really relate to Reba McEntire “the greatest man I never knew”. I cry every time I hear it. 💜

I still cry eyrie I hear this song. It hits even harder this weekend, because this is the first Father’s Day without my Daddy. We always danced to this song together when we were together.
My Daddy passed in March. He was 90. That is considered a good run, but it still hurts. A fond memory of my Dad is how he taught me to swim in the sea and guarded me like a treasure till I could swim like a fish. There has never been anyone as patient as my Dad. And when I would come out of the sea, freezing cold, he would rub me down with a stiff towel and his hands were big and rough from working in a factory, and the salt from the sea and the towel was rough as well and I swear I shed a layer of skin every time I went swimming with him. I was always warm and safe and loved when I was with him. Miss him so much.

It was right after My Dad's funeral. This song was played on My radio. As it played, My emotions got the better of Me that My first thought was to take the radio & smash It on the floor !
