      It's certainly a strange one. Online, I've found a few other records put out by that company, several of them 10". Why they'd want to squeeze a 14-song album onto a 10" record is puzzling. To save money?

Op shop hunting was able to obtain Elvis the Alternate Aloha and The Great Performance cds this afternoon. Thanks for the reviews. Record fair next week for me as well to attend.👍. Hi Dave ,great video as usual ,thanks for the ref ,appreciated,Taiwan records are some of the most interesting in the world for me ,av learned a lot from your book a didn’t know it’s a great read a love it,very unusual 10 inch on your seal to reveal av not seen that before looks really interesting ,the covers fab ,the colour,graphics,n picture ,the second album av not seen that either,fun in Acapulco av seen this but it had more colours the pressing a seen ,lovely records those ,a had a chance recently to acquire half a dozen Thailand records ,mainly EPs ,GI blues n blue Hawaii were the best but a had to pass the guy was wanting way too much ,they had the look of bootlegs to me but a wasn’t sure ,he’s since sold them so another day maybe ,the book looks interesting al keep a lookout for that but couldn’t agree more Dave there’s loads of crap written about EL ,fun in Acapulco is a fine soundtrack av always liked it ,the films a good watch ,there’s been some pretty seedy things appearing on CZcams about ELs private life recently am sure you’ll have seen it yourself ,a tend to try n avoid it ,av seen the recent EL film ,there were inaccuracies and the russwood park concert a noticed straight away ,that’s 56 but in the film ,Austin butler is performing ,trouble from king creole which hadn’t been recorded in 1956 ,it’s actually not a bad film ,judge for yourself if you decide to watch it,finally Dave do you sell records on eBay if so what name do you use ,great piece ,take care ,tony

      Hi Tony. I think all records out of Taiwan were boots. You don't see too many Taiwanese EPs though. That 10" Blue Hawaii blew me away. The labels are hilarious too - so many errors.
      Re the Elvis movie, I don't object in principle to filmmakers taking artistic licence when doing those biopics, but it bugs me because it becomes more about the filmmaker and what he wants to say(or she, in the case of the Priscilla movie, another one I won't be seeing).
      Luckily, I haven't seen anything seedy on YT about Elvis' private life. Nothing like that has been recommended and I don't go looking for it.
      Yes, I do sell one or two things on eBay. You can find me here:

    For anyone to make the comparison with Taylor Swifts sales to Elvis' in 2023 is preposterous. Teenagers in the 1950s-60's didn't have the internet to quickly buy music from artists. In 2024 you don't have to wait on shipments or pressing plants to make chart sales. These type of comparisons used today toward artists of the past are excuses to make the crappy worthless so-called music of today to look good to a generation that doesn't know what real music used to consist of.
    And Thank You David for not viewing that recent BS movie that Lisa and Priscilla supported so much for their "money grab" by sacrificing Elvis' legacy in doing so. Never thought They would have ever topped the Michael Jackson embarrassment.
    Love your channel David you are a true Elvis Presley Fan!

    • @ElvisPresleyInJapan
      @ElvisPresleyInJapan  Před 6 měsíci

      You make a good point. I think a similar thing can be said about LP sales. In the '50s, I think fewer kids were able to afford albums compared to kids in the '60s and later.
      I take it you didn't see the Priscilla movie. 😅 Me neither.
      Thanks for your support.

      @@ElvisPresleyInJapan You are correct I wouldn't see that movie if they would have paid me to see it. They did some things in that movie to really try to tarnish his image. They did little things like make sure the actor playing Elvis was almost 2 feet taller than Priscilla's character to give the effect that she would look much weaker as if Elvis was towering over her with control. I read the documents where Lisa threaten to sue if this movie was ever released , but as we all know sadly she passed and Witch-cilla pushed it through with full approval. People don't realize it was Priscilla's constant lawsuits wanting more and more money from Elvis that actually kept him on those back breaking tours and the reason for him having to sell the Rights for all his recordings prior tp 1972.
      "And the truth be known that if she wasn't told about that proposal Elvis made to Ginger Alden by Jerry Shilling in August 1977 he may very well have still been with us today." ..but that's another story on the Witch.

    • @ElvisPresleyInJapan
      @ElvisPresleyInJapan  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, I saw the trailer and it was clear they were trying to exaggerate the height difference. I never knew that about the lawsuits.@@exenx2995

      @@ElvisPresleyInJapan Yes she took him back to court several times wanting more and more money from what was already agreed upon to the point he had to sell his royalties to get the sum she was suing him for. The Colonel tried to talk him out of it but Elvis threatened to use someone else to help him sell these rights to pay her off if he didn't, so the Colonel had no choice but to give in on Elvis' demands. Here's what's really perthitic with her, after Vernon Presley passed in '79 she took the Colonel to court to get him removed from the estate. Guess what she used ? She claimed he was mis-managing Elvis because he had Elvis sell the royalties to his catalogue. But ironically she was the reason for him doing that in the first place and she knew this.
      David there a new book out by a guy who lived with Colonel for many years and has all this documented as to clear the rumors that were set forth against him. (sorry don't have the name of him on hand but he was interviewed recently on the channel "globetrotting with trey" where you can find more info)

    Hi David, Todd here. Hope you are well. Felt the earthquake here as well. In your review of the Elvis 2023 book you mentioned the movie and a scene by scene book you’d like to find. All good,
    but I really think you should give the movie a chance before you move into critiques/commentaries of others. As we have talked about before, it is definitely not the standard linear tracking of his life events….it is stylized, flashy, and jumpy, as most Baz movies are…but it remains pretty true to the Elvis story. There are a few liberties, but they are minor, and do not detract from the truth of his life. Of course, if you want to hear about drugs it will disappoint you. It is not a sensationalistic depiction. Please watch it, if only to appreciate a very good, non-impressionistic, performance by Austin Butler. In fairness, your pal. Todd

    • @ElvisPresleyInJapan
      @ElvisPresleyInJapan  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi, Todd. I hope you're well. Have you found any good records out there?
      I get what you're saying about the film. I can certainly believe that Austin Butler turned in a great performance, but the "scene by scene" book appeals more to me because there are people out there who know more about Elvis' life than I do. Watching the film, I'd be wondering, did that happen? There are other reasons why I haven't seen it. I don't watch movies anyway these days. There are just so many, and too many, other things to do. Maybe one day, when everyone's forgotten about it, I'll sit down and watch it. Cheers, Todd.

    Interesting book. So Rolling Stone magazine says that Elvis was in Acapulco making a movie. Huh. Take anything that Rolling Stone magazine says with a grain of salt. No, a mountain of salt. That publication has been edited by kids ever since it began, who know or care nothing about Elvis and the origins of rock'n'roll. The title says it all - Rolling Stones indeed. Elvis did not go to Mexico to film Fun In Acupulco. It was filmed in studios with backgrounds from various beaches, probably used some footage from Acapulco.
