Do you love or hate space? Or both?
I’m staying on earth, thank you very much 😂
I love space but I’m also terrified of it 🙃
Yeah, it's the same kind of respect I have for the ocean. That environment was not made for us, and if we want to explore there, we have to play by its rules.
And human physiology is not built to help us follow with those rules.
Love Space and the deep ocean
i love it but the thought of going up there makes me shit my pants while i still kinda want to knows whats all out there
The thing with music and this game is that music tends to play at very specific moments, some of which use particular instruments that repeat whenever you're near a discovery of some kind, so you'll learn to associate those melodies with your desire to explore and absorb whatever the game is about to throw at you.
It's fine not understanding everything as you go. Whenever you feel like your mind is foggy, it's okay to stop. Take your time, and come back later. You can always check the logs to help you complete the pieces of the puzzle.
After finishing the game and knowing what I know now, hearing the piano play in the Hanging City hits me SO hard.
"Beam me up Scotty. That's a Star Wars reference"... 💀 lol
I love that you and Riebeck got to bond over your shared fear of space 😁
9:39. A tip for dealing with high-gravity objects (ie the sun): thrusting directly against the gravity doesn't work. What you need to do is build up lateral speed, and throw yourself around and past it.
I knew exactly what would happen when he was orbiting safely but started thrusting retrograde, lol.
I've had the game on my wishlist for a while. Last weekend, I played through it completely to avoid seeing spoilers in your playthrough. Now I can safely watch your videos. 😊
My journey was incredible, and I'm excited to be able to experience your journey too.
For me, I feel that I played through it all a bit too effectively. I gamified the Outer WIlds' universe. I only finally stopped to smell the roses when I put on the VR headset in the NomaiVR mod.
29:21 when playing this game it's essential that you do not google anything unless it is absolutely necessary, and even then you should only look up hints, not a whole solution.
Generally someone will have asked that on the subreddit, and the top comments will always be incremental small hints towards the solution
@@robinvuorinen9402 Yeah, the Outer Wilds subreddit is incredibly good at only giving hints with no spoilers. When people do specifically ask for a spoiler solution, it probably feels like pulling teeth to them.
I love your voiceover parts, it really keeps it all together and makes this play-through so much more personal and is always a good change of pace. You can really see the effort you put in these episodes to make it your own story, and I am excited now to see you tackle the things that space might throw at you ::)
Not sure if others have mentioned but I would stray from reading the soundtrack titles as it may spoil you.
"The universe is and we are" has to be one of my favorite quotes in media.
The music is worth it, your style still comes through in editing imo
You know, I never actually knew that the gravity cannon would launch you into space if you stepped on it. This game really rewards experimentation, creativity, and applying the knowledge you have. This principle of applied knowledge is all over the place, which is only fitting as both you and the Nomai are science-loving peoples. Even your ship is jury-rigged with a refitted Nomai grav lift (how you enter the ship) and crystal (how you have gravity inside the ship). Just absolutely brilliant stuff
If you park your ship there and turn it on it'll launch your ship into space too 😂
I hate that I played this game like a normal game the first time. Because of that, I took way longer than I should have since I wasn't really paying attention to the text and I wasn't trying to make connections. I just treated the text like filler lore and was looking for the real game and objective.
I was the opposite extreme- I read everything but I gamified every obstacle and finished the game too quickly. I was only able to stop and smell the roses when I hopped into VR.
@@SolDizZo My first time in it was in VR because I was looking for good VR games to play and the mod came up so I just got the game without knowing anything about it. I still remember the feeling of falling into the sun and I'm not good with open bodies of water so Giant's Deep was a real pain.
@@WhoTnT Ooh man well you really do need vr legs for this one. Interesting you started the game with VR, I wonder how unique you are in that :D
Only reason I could handle it was:
My first VR experience was a 10 hour sitting of getting lost hurtling through space in Lone Echo.
People often complain that you can't replay this game. I disagree. Yes, my first playthrough was an amazing experience, but the second time around was just as fulfilling. I was able to fully immerse myself in the NOMAI experience.
Pye the science absolutist and the bull-headded Idaea, Yarrows akward flirting with Clary, the brilliant Poke plagued by self doibt, and Solanum... Just wonderful characters.
@@LockeRobsta You raise an interesting point - my first playthrough was very Nomaian. Then About Oliver's playlist was like from Chert's pov. I finally got my sister to play the game, and it was like from Riebeck's pov. Then Atrioc's playthrough was like from Feldspar's pov! And I feel I've got the full range of experience thanks to Eelis.
Hey Butch, I know this game is quite frustrating, specially at the beggining with all the confusing lore and mechanics but don't worry, it's normal for everyone and I think your playthrough is going very well actually, you make very smart observations!
If I could offer a small piece of advice to help you guide you better it would be to go on the ship's computer, take your time reading what you discovered so far and follow the clues p.e. - The White Hole Station leads you to place X, which then leads you to Y, etc. If you follow one trail of lore at a time it becomes easier to understand, at least at the beginning when its SUPER confusing.
"The usual event" is probably not what I would use to qualify a supernova
Man, early in your gameplay you were describing your fears and I was sitting here knowing you were going to be facing pretty much every single one. I've enjoyed watching you confront those fears for the sake of discovery and verbalizing the sense of wonder and dread that accompanies the draw of the unknown.
My approach to this game is very different, so it is so interesting every time you stumble on something by accident that took me hours to find or pass by/struggle with something I found quickly. I love this game, wish I could forget about it completely and re-play it for the first time again. Feels like I'm vicariously playing it for the first time again through you
This playthrough is delightful. I love how intensely you feel the underlying terror and awe of space, and I love how you intercut with extra narrative. The use of the royal "we" is cute, it makes me laugh. It's understandable that you would be feeling confused by the story thus far; the game is told in little pieces and so far you haven't found many that connect to each other. I recommend spending some serious time with your ship's log, it will help you put pieces together.
Butch. I’ve been following you from the beginning. In fact I always wondered whether you might play this one. You’re a master story teller. You craft a roller coaster for us to come along in the journey with you. This game might frustrate you and can be difficult - but I really want you to know how much I’m thoroughly enjoying your play through of this amazing game. I reckon if you stick with it you’ll be the definitive play through
I've been waiting for you to see the sun. This has been great feeling all the emotions I felt as you are feeling them. I'm rooting for you!!
I have never had so much fun watching someone play a game. I've never played this one but watching you is hilarious! You're so animated.
I had recently gotten this game after being reminded about it (from one of your previous videos actually) and I tried it once, but I didn't really get into it. So just a few days ago I saw you had started playing it and so I watched your videos and went straight to play the game again, ended up finishing it what like 2 or 3 days later after sitting up all night to 4:30 in the morning just to get to the ending that sitting. I'm really glad I decided to actually play it because it might just be my favourite game of all time at least story-wise. Hope you enjoy the rest of the game, cause I sure did.
This is a fantastic playthrough so far! Thanks for turning the in-game music back on too, that's going to make a world of difference :)
fun fact to think about when you get your stomach turned by gravity crystals: this game has a very well-made VR mod!
Loving the longer videos with this play through. Looking forward to watching this one once I’m out of work!
I absolutely love the format of your videos and the storytelling, I think it really fits the game :O
Guess who's gonna watch this in bed now:
Thanks for your uploads you're always making my day butch💙💙
These long videos are just perfect, keep it up man
Been here since 1k subs. It's insane how much you've improved in such a relatively short time. Keep it up!
*Sees sun*
"OOH, not near there!"
*accelerates towards it*
FUCK YEAH ANOTHER OUTER WILDS EPISODE THANK YOU BUTCH
Montgomery Scott was my favorite Star Wars character...he was missing a finger, you know...
I love it! It's so cool you're giving Outer Wilds a shot, I adore the game and hope you get as much satisfaction out of it as I did.
Great episode, keep it up. Super excited to be along for the journey
I just love watching people play this game, it's such a guilty pleasure 😆 keep going!!
I remember in year 7 they made us watch the weeping angels episode for English class, literally just for torture because how this benefitted my knowledge of the English language I don’t know. I also did not sleep until I was 15 and to this day I sleep with a night light.
i feel like this game is going to be so special for butch
26:10 Butch... never let someone tell you what you wear. You slay, queen.
I love Blink! It's my favorite Doctor Who episode.
I for one am with you and ADORE space, and also have a horrible fear of falling through things so trust me when I say i feel you on EVERY tummy drop fallin into black holes and whatnot. Eeeeeeee. At any rate, I'm as confused as you as to what's goin on! Another fun episode, ty :) PS, Don't melt, buy some dry ice? :)
Oooh, Blink. 😁 y'know, they expanded on the lore for the Weeping Angels since? 'Anything that holds the image of an angel, becomes itself an angel' so... pictures, cosplays, EVERYTHING. 😂😁❤️ i love those monsters!
Also, there's a pair of episodes based around a black hole...
I love this series! The game perfectly fits your channel. Hope the algorithm picks up this playthrough, it deserves more views.
Love how you edit and narrate these videos to tell your story. And thanks for bringing back the in game music, it feels like now your storytelling and the game's storytelling are in harmony. But while I'm glad you read the comments to make that change please be very careful reading comments and definitely don't look up anything online. The point of the game is not to have the answers, it's all about the questions and the journey you take to seek them out.
Don't feel discouraged that you are not figuring out anything since you are but you just don't realize it yet. Everything only comes together in maybe the last hour of the game and even then, I have learned so much more by watching play throughs after I finished the game.
I love space and I love your playthrough.
every planet has it's own unique horror.
hourglass twins have the sand pillar for ash and sand rising for ember.
Giants deep has the Sea,
Timber Hearth has Slate, Sap wine, Hearthian safety standards, and geysers.
Brittle hollow has the black hole and volcanic moon.
and Dark Bramble has its very existence.
Hourglass: Claustrophobia
Giants deep: Fear of drowning
Brittle hollow: Fear of heights
Dark bramble: Fear of unknown
it's definitely butch under the helmet holding a banjo
Great gameplay. I really like how visceral your reactions are, one can tell they come from a place of true fear. I also really like how much you take in the environments and set pieces, and how attentive you are of the various pieces of Nomai text.
THIS EPISODE WAS AWESOME
Thank you for another great video. Much appreciated.
I really really recommend having the music on. Them game uses it to communicate some important things.
this is a great series! you really seem to understand the game on a lot of levels lol, looking forward to seeing you explore the other planets!
Amazing as always!
1:00:03 "Beam me up, Scotty." Is NOT a Star Wars reference! It's from Star Trek. 🤣
44:20 I'm in the Caribbean and I set my AC to 24-26...any colder and I start to shiver 😂
The timing on White Hole station's warp was fantastic. Right out of the lift and onto another planet before you hit the ground 😘👌
How much flak did you get for the 'Star Wars' reference? lmaoo
"Space is so big, man" - what if I told you that this Solar System is SO scaled down that it would fit into the city of London five times over.
Like... yea London is a big city, but compared to SPACE? It's like a McDonald's toy sized solar system :D
I'm loving this
1:00:02 AAAAH that was NOT a star wars refernece
Should be ready to understand orbit enough for Kerbal Space Program after this ;)
NOT THE DIGESTIVE EXORCISM 24:45
Love you videos!
I've got to see @ButchX3 play some Breath's Edge. lol
Is it me or is Giants Deep, like, the 3rd least scary planet next to Timber Hearth and Ash Twin?
1:00:02 Yes, Star Wars...
Just an FYI, you hit the planet at about 450m/s, which is the equivalent of 1620kph. 386kph faster than the speed of sound. (Earth atmosphere equivalent) 👍
Love this series, but beam me up scotty, is a star trek thingy lol, no teleporters in star wars.
LOL - I have to pick on you because I don't know if it's an American English vs your "Proper English" thing or if I've just been misled to mispronounce it my whole life, but when you said "gauging" @21:38 it stopped me dead in my tracks. We say "gay-jing" here where I live. Is it really said, "gaw-jing" ?
Hey Butch, do you know where the Ark playlist went, I can't find it anymore, did you delete or private it?
Maybe add the dlc? Its a nice addition!
1:00:08 Excuse me, Star WARS reference?
woo
Day 3 of asking Butch to play Alien isolation 🙏
Remember how you said in the last episode you might google how to do certain things in this game? As someone who's played this game I can tell you that's a really bad Idea. The progression in this game is Knowledge-Based, meaning the more you know about it the closer you are to the end. You've already progressed without even realizing. If you google something, ANYTHING, it means you will progress, and sometimes that means entire Chunks of the game would be pointless to play through. So no matter what, Don't Do That!
Yo man I love this Channel and I don't like that movie it scares me
1:00:03 Classic joke mixing Star Wars and Star Trek.
I think your fear is making you have a very hard time. You're reading things that are quite obvious leads, but I think your fear makes you not able to process them in real-time. I suppose something that could be useful is, when you edit these videos - watch the bits where you read stuff in particular, something may click at times, sometimes maybe still not - it's all fine
1:22:07 girl 😉
I liked the video but am ALSO a twat, just an FYI
Bro is star trek not start wars lmao. Kids these days😂😂😂
