I've never played Grounded or watched any videos on the game. Btu today, that all changes as I begin my full first time playthrough of Grounded! I have SO many questions. There are also SO many bugs. What on earth is going on???

Heck yeah more more more. To quote billy idol.
yea! base building in this game is good, it'd be a shame to waste your talents
Yes please more this game is awesome
10000%. I've been shamelessly BEGGING for this series in the discord, so hyped its arrived! Can't wait to see what adventures you go on with this one.
Yep grounded gets rly fun quick also quick tip: if u wear a whole armor set like example all red ant armor pieces u get a special effect the red ant armor effect is that red soldier ants wont attack u if u dont attack them or steal a egg rly usefull for the red ant hill chip
Butch at the first lab: “This feels like late game s#!+.”
Me: “Oh you sweet summer child, just you wait.”
he’s gonna be terrified when he finds out what’s late game 😭
I'm so fkn happy he's playing it!!!!!!!
Non spoilerey tips: learn to parry before you really start to need it, only use granola bars as healing not as food
+peep creatures
definitely Peep, I think its X on the keyboard
@@lizardKingCDXX I wasn't sure, I'm an xbox player
Oh my god yes the granola bars. Learned the hard way that they werent really food 😭
In my whoa game, every Granola Bars I found I put them in a chest just for the sake of the collection lol, I won’t Eat them because they don’t really respawn lol
@@vari_ares you can dupe them for 1000 Raw science
“I’m never going to touch a boob, am I?”
That thought was floating in my head, and you got a big irl lol for vocalizing it. Ty for the laugh and content.
46:39 I'm late to the series start, so you probably won't see this, but you can. At some point in the game you can make a Slurry machine to make various slurries, which you can tame pets with with, like a plant slurry for aphids, a mushroom slurry for weevils, and a spoiled meat slurry for gnats.
Yep I have two of each
I keep putting this one on before bed, and for some reason the first 15 minutes just get me right to sleep. It's definitely not boring, it must just be the soothing sounds of.. bug murder?
On watch number 5. Thanks for the entertainment butch 😂
I love this game as much as Ark. Great choice, Butch
"SCIENCE!!!" - Neebs Gaming. I'm soooo looking forward to this playthrough!
Love to see this game on your channel. Looking forward to the rest of it. My non-spoilery tip bit is to not think about tools (axe, hammer, knife, etc.) just as gathering tools. They can prove to be very useful weapons, depending on what you fight. Also, armors have individual piece buffs, but also set effects which you can see only once you equip the whole set.
Grounded is so much fun and a great balance of survival and story. Yet another series to look forward to!
Sorry to burst your bubble but the hedge is early game. It's literally the first lab that you are required to complete. It was even marked on your map to find the garden shears at the Hedge Ascent. Lol You are definitely in for a surprise mate! This game is amazing. It's incredibly entertaining watching someone discover Grounded for the first time. It's nostalgic cuz it reminds me of the first time I played. Love it! Definitely looking forward to more episodes. ✌️😁
As someone who just finished the hedge this is exciting to hear!
lol the opening pun. Don't ever change, Butch, you're a rare gem in this youtube wasteland.
This is definitely another series I will watch from Butch same as I did with Ark survival ascended
Going to the hedge lab without armor, ambitious. Best place for an early game base is on the baseball where you started, it is a safe area and plenty of food. :)
For a couple days till the orb spiders come out at night.
The accidental dilo kill in ark will forever be one of my favorite clips ever! 😂💜
This ‘bout to be the most entertaining walkthrough of Grounded I’ve ever seen…
My goldfish has a great attention span. It will stare at me for hours. My cat on the other hand keeps getting distracted by the goldfish for some reason
THE WAY HE SAYS GNAT 😂😂😂❤
Grounded is one of my favorite games, I'm glad you're playing it! Quick tip: every single mutation on that mutation screen is unlocked by completing something that has to do with that mutation. A mutation for spear stuff is unlocked by using spears, axe stuff is unlocked by using axes, certain mutations are gotten from killing specific bugs, etc. Definitlely don't shy away from trying stupid stuff, because you might unlock a mutation by doing it.
Quick question can you get the chopper mutation from the scythe you get from mantis or do I have to use the normal axe
@kieronpocock532 no, the scythe counts as a dagger for some reason.
Thx for the info
Good stuff can’t wait for a new series!
Such a good first episode, you did a bunch! Excited for the full playthrough :)
Some tips that will save you a few headaches:
- Press 'N' while in range of chests to hot deposit (auto-store) items in your inventory
- Press 'X' to get your peepers out! you can 'scan' wildlife to see their weaknesses & resistences
- Build 'trail markers' (the little grass flag looking thing) to put permanent location markers in your world. (you can hide them by pressing 'Y' to declutter the screen for your recording)
- If your backpack drops in a hard-to-recover location theres a 'game repair' option in the menu to send it back to the starting area.
Only issue with the backpack thing is that it can only be done once per playthrough, so itd be smart to only do it if your backpack is stuck under the map and is quite literally irretrievable
@@invisibledoor4250 its actually once per load, you just have to save, exit, reload to do it again - I used to do it all the time because i was lazy :)
Science lesson:- Gravity is a constant, in a vacuum a feather and a brick will fall at the same rate. Mass and air resistance are what make things fall faster or slower in atmosphere.
Hence why he was talking about terminal velocity (P.S., mass is a constant, and technically isn't the variable you are looking for. Density is.). Also worth mentioning is that the relative structural integrity of small creatures is far higher than larger ones like us. For example, we can be damaged just by tripping and landing wrong, but most insects can't be significantly damaged by a fall of any height. A typical beetle can withstand hundreds of times its weight and survive, while we would get squashed by less than 10.
37:57 "What is that... it's a thing" best quote ever
YES FINALLY a survival game similar to ark in some way. I love grounded and I hope you can continue the series!
Yes dude!!! I've been waiting for you to do this game! I watched your whole Ark series, After this one, trust me, do a playthrough of valheim as, Ark, Grounded, and Valheim are pretty much the same kind of game, although very different, I'm sure you'll love it and I'm looking forward to this series! Base building in this game is fun too!
I miss when butch would play subnautica and scream like a little girl
Just be patient. The Pond is waiting....
This was a fantastic story. Terminal velocity for an ant doesn't exist here on Earth.
I might be a bit late but the slow "ooo, Ooo, OOO" when you saw the map for the first time was hillarious :D
This is probably my favorite Survival Game currently. It's so much fun
Grounded is one of the most polished and underappreciated survival games to date imho, glad to see someone picking it up.
So glad you found Grounded, it's highly overlooked in my opinion, love this little game!
When he said this guy Pete doesn’t seem surprised to be small 😂 I didn’t realize until you said that but he doesn’t seem surprised AT ALL
YAYYY SOMETHING I CAN FINALLY WATCH BUTCH PLAY WHICH IS FUNNN, THANK YOU BUTCHH
43:18 I understand you Butch. It's soda pressing..
Also, what was the first miniaturized politician's slogan? Yes, we *can*.
This game surprised me. Never had anyone to play with but it's REALLY good, even solo. One of the best survival games on the market. Actually has a story and decent progression outside of just new building materials like most games of it's ilk. Perfect game for you Butch.
Grounded is probably my favourite survival game ever, I'm so excited to watch you play it!
PLEASE tell me this will be a whole playthrough butch. love watching your first reactions and this is one of my more recent favorite games.
This game reminds me of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids...Rick Moranis did it 😂
From what I read, it was a big inspiration.
90s kids know😊
90s kids know 😊
I mean yeah you’re right about it reminding you about Honey I Shrunk The Kids, as like a previous reply said it is inspiration and is probably why the game exists.
I played it first when it was in early access for about a hundred+ hours. Then we started it together with my best mate and finished it. Then we just started it again two weeks ago... This game is awesome. You will have so much fun. If you have someone to join in... Do it. It multiplies the fun 10x
Cool video! I haven't played this since early release. It looks so different now! Might have to get back into it!
Also as an Aussie, I absolutely hear you on saying things wrong, AKA the American way/uh
Hell yeah, after the end of your ASA playthrough I've been waiting (patiently, I get wanting to play other things) for you to pick up another game that I was interested in. Absolutely loved your Ark series.
I have been waiting for you to start this. I am very excited. Btw fun fact Zachary Levi plays the voice of Wendell.
I love the narration mixed with gameplay. Very fun watch 😊. I subscribed! Also, the pain! He doesnt pick up any granola bars from the research stations, the best heals in the early to mid game! 😅
I was born in 1990, this game is not only great but super nostalgic in all the right ways
Like ive been saying for SO long, i dont know how you dont have 1m+ subscribers. Love your channel! Keep up the great content!!
I remember first finding your channel when you played Subnautica and enjoyed watching you play it (and felt bad a bit) ! Happy to see you're playing another one of the games that I really like.
It's an amazing game and it'll only get better, which is why it was highly requested 😁
2 tips that will really help you out:
• Practice parrying and learning the enemies attack patterns.
• Peep each creature you see to learn it's weaknesses/resistances.
Getting as many of the molars really helps with survival and progression. Keep some dandelion tuffs on one's person. Once one opens up clay as a building material, keep some on one's person.
Omg yessssss I love you so much yet another banger series 😊 we need to get this guy on top. ❤
Glad you're giving this one a bash, quality game mate!
ButchX3!!!! I've missed your vids my dude, they haven't been in my feed lately, good to see you again!
I love your wonder at exploring games, please don't rush through content for the algorithm... I know you will have to some, but I love how you genuinely enjoy discovering and building! Jus tenjoy it, we will be here with you..
And as always, "save the game"! Till the next vid good sir!
4 minutes into this video and already like your style! Love the music edited in
I love Grounded and how it rewards you for exploring. Such a great game, I was playing since before it was released. New game + now.
YEAH MY FAV SURVIVAL! take in everything the first play through is so special!
SO excited for this play through. I love this game so much and it’s one of the few I’ve actually finished and replayed a few times so it’s so cool to finally see a youtuber I love play it too!! And I can actually give advice as stuff comes out
Butch! Your videos are always so exceptionally edited and your commentary is top notch! I loved your Ark playthrough. Very happy you've started Grounded. Awesome game. Obsidian is always cooking bangers. I'm very hopeful that after some rest from the Island you'll come back to the Arks and Conquer another map! Would love to see you try out Scorched Earth or maybe even Aberration when that drops in the next month or two.. Supposedly lol. You're the best Butch!
Is there parrying?
*proceeds to perfect parry*
No there isn't.
The first video is the fourth in the playlist. Makes sense.
YES, our prayers have been ANSWERED, can't wait for a world of fun.
Great game. Happy to be able to join you in your adventures once again! :)
So happy you’re playing this! I haven’t played Outer Wilds so I had to miss a bunch a videos. Glad to be watching again. This is a great game.
so since you asked what mutations are; in ways not to spoil the game, they’re power ups that you can use and can be upgraded from 2 you can use to 5. I won’t say how as the game introduces you to it later on down the road, good luck trying to survive the backyard!
I love the game to death, I liked watching you play and the playthrough felt like a (good) movie. Subbed, and can't wait for more.
Honey! I shrunk the Butch!
Omg YES! Another Legendary Series, comin up!
Butch heres some tips : peep creatures and look at its weakness example if u use a stabbing weapon against a bug that weak to stabbing u do 25% more damage if u use a spicy weapon against a creature weak to spicy u get 50% more damage which is rly huge for stronger creatures also if u combine the 2 weaknesses like example slashing and spicy into one weapon u deal 75% more damage
Building lean-tos at each research station. Keeps one from having to run as far upon death.
One of my favs! Excited for this playthrough
Butch this game has a total of 4 cycles plus, the 4th cycle is where you finish all the new content and you can tentcally do more but it gets so hard to keep up with everything the game offers each cycle after
No armor, no upgrades, no problem. Power through spider infested bush.
It's the easiest lab I've done it in 20 min since I started a game
To be fair, he didn't even really meet the spiders "truly" lol
@@adamwalker3560 real he got lucky there's like 5 orb weaver jrs in it usually but I think he's playing it on easy mode
I can tell youre gonna love this series! Keep up the good work!
This looks like it could be a fun series, looking forward to it a real honey I shrink the kids vibe.
Thank god another game I can watch with you
Love your videos! I hope you enjoy the game
Never watched or played grounded, cant wait to learn it as you go
Oh my lord, going to the hedge without any armor or glider gave me absolute anxiety.. xD
It's so easy without armor lol I've done it on Xbox in 20 min from the start of the game
MAN I'm so happy you are finally playing one of my all time favourite games!!! Can't wait for the next episode!!!!
Oh i can already tell this is going to be great to watch!! Have you done Valheim yet? Id luv to see you do that now that there are more boss fights an build fun
I can't wait to see your first run in with a wolf spider... 😍
Yo man how have you been and I agree size doesn't matter
Some of this looks like subnautica
Better you than me bud. My arachnophobia said HELL NO to this one 😂
...other than the spiders, this one actually looks pretty cool
I’m glad we got another series like ark
super excited for my favorite game series
I love ark and i watched your full ark series and i also love grounded so i cant wait to watch this too!
This will be the first game I watch you play that I actually have seen before - looking forward to seeing you crush another one
Let's goooo. Great game to play. Hope this is a series.
I've been wanting this so thank you
That my Favorite Survival Game EVER and maybe just my favorite game at all ! ❤ That such an underrated good game ! It’s difficult but keep up, it’s worth playing there is a LOT of content !
Even with one can lose some health. That's why the instant-heal smoothies are a big help.
Ark got you ready for this game lol
13:50 well i think we know what happended to some of the missing children.
Tips 4 early game: Learn to perfect parry. Blocking in this game is extremely crucial for survival, especially in boss fights. So get familiar with enemy attack patterns. Always keep food/water in your inventory at all times. Watch your breath meter when diving underwater. Unlike other games, once the timer hits 0 you instantly drown. Do not upgrade your tier I armor/weapons. It's a waste of resources, which are finite. Wait until you have tier II. Lastly, look for the milk carton near the retaining wall on the right side of the map. Near the milk carton, inside the retaining wall, there is a secret door. Build a staircase or clay ramp up to it, blow the door up with a bratburst (which u can craft by acquiring fungal growth and a red ant egg) and go inside to find a tier III weapon, the Pinch Whacker. It will help a lot in the early game. Good luck and welcome to the backyard! 🤘😎🤘
Excited for this gameplay!
Im so ready for this series bro
This guy made more progress in this game in a few hours than I did in 2 real life days
That’s… interesting.
HELL yeah, I'm so here for this 🙌
He finally played it! I asked back during subnautica :)
Oh you are REALLY spoiling us with your game choices!
Yes, you can keep aphids and weevils as pets, they can be attacked and killed by other creatures so you know
Only in Whao mode. On Medium and Mild they are invincible, unless a bug causes them to fall through the world or something.
@@FalconKyule1maybe it's been a while but I remember my pet getting one shot by a larvae on mild
@@FalconKyule1 Yeah my baby ant is really helpful.
Awww yeeeeees! 😍 Love This Game! I‘ll start up a new game and play it while watching this series! 🔥
This was a fun watch, also just so you know the hedge is early game also the g in gnat is silent
First level, hedge and pond. Easier to deal with west to east. Reverses second level, east to west, with harder terrain and insects. Top most reverse that starting from the leftmost research station and work towards the stump.
I finished this game 100% recently and absolutely loved it, really looking forward to this series!
Excellent. Tell us a story Butch.
