    Now this is a a easy install - for other people - apparently. It took us more than 5.5 hour to get the snorkel installed as a first time job. We show you every step of the way of this litle debacle. Hope you enjoy the video.

    The reason why you might take a little longer to do some jobs is that you do such high quality work. Carry on 'doing it your way' my friend, you do it right. It is also very good for helping other people do the same jobs.

    Thank you. That was really so funny when you described how clean the air filter is and the reason why you’re installing the snorkel.
    I’m in Australia. I have a D4, with a genuine safari snorkel. And even though I’ve done river crossings with it, and even though I have had water come over the bonnet. I don’t think that the water would have ever got close to the air inlet. There’s a high likelihood that I will never really need my snorkel either. It does give peace of mind though.

    I installed a Safari Snorkel onto my Discovery 3. I have installed a couple of snorkels in the past on different vehicles and to be honest Christian, I did think you were kidding with the drilling effort on the A-Pillar. i was wrong, very wrong!!
    Drilling the A-Pillar holes were a real pain. We had to sharpen the drill bits many, many times. We broke two drill bits. The last hole was the one that hurt the most, the drill bit broke, the drill bounced on to the A Pillar, then remaining drill bit stub stabbed the windscreen causing three cracks through both layers of glass. Fortunately an after market windscreens installed price was not too dear. I was entitled to quite a large discount through the auto-club I am in (due to the many years of membership) similar to your ADAC. The windscreen I ordered was the one with the Automatic rain sensing mount. When the chap removed the broken windscreen I could see there was absolutely no corrosion, rust or any sign of water ingress past the seals. Hopefully the installer did as good a job as the land Rover factory did with their install.

    Brilliant video as ever, always enjoyable! How do you think you'd get on without such a well equipped workshop?

      It's expanding with every repair. For our next repair, I have to buy torx longbits. That is how you get a well equipped workshop 😅 You start young and it's a neverending process. 😄👍🙋‍♀️ Vera

    Great entertaining channel with good sense of humour. Does your engine bonnet now raise vertical (maintenance mode I guess) ? Looks extremely close to the snorkel!

      To tell you the truth, we haven't tried it yet. But I am 100% sure that we put the bonnet of Fabian's Discovery into maintenance mode a couple of times. And he has a snorkel fitted too. 👍🙋‍♀️ Vera

    Just out of curiosity what is the antenna and transceiver that you are using.

      He is going to do a video about that explaining it all. But basically it is a DAB+ Antenna for our cheap chinese android unit. We have tried with dab+antennas inside the car. But because of the heated window, the reception is just not good. And we are not ready to drill a hole into the roof. That's why he chose this one. 👍🙋‍♀️ Vera

    Another great video
    you are very thorough, so we know you are German 😁😁
    but I think you must have some English ancestry because you have a self- deprecating sense of humour
    I think everyone should have a 'Vera' to help 👍👍

    I would also like to know if you can now open the bonnet (hood) to the service position. Doesn't seem such a big price difference with a genuine safari snorkle her in the UK £192 + vat. I like the look of the genuine mantec one which you can now buy under the terrafirma brand. But it is not sealed and is only a raised air intake not for wading. Keep up the good work guys look forward to your videos each week. 👍

    Hello. I have to first say I enjoy your video's so much. They have helped me a few times when I had problems with my LR3 2006. I was wondering have you ever done a crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor replacement on your LR3. I have a problem with my LR3 it is on just over 360 000 km and I do a lot of driving with it. But the last few weeks I could not. As just out of the blue after driving it for about 20km i stopped at the shop got back in it and just did not want to start. I have crank but no start! I did take it to the one shop and they told me it is my injectors that needs to be replaced. I told them I dont think so because the injectors was replaced by Land Rover just over 60 000km ago. And I dont think the injectors will make the engine turn but not start as not all 6 injectors can be broken just like that. I have tested the fuel I do get fuel to the engine and everything I have read on the forums point to the crank or cam shaft positioning sensors. What do you think?

    Now you can do river crossings and cross German desserts.
    I have a 2nd hand one I need to fit. I can't justify the price of a new one. Only real issue I have is I don't have the instructions or templates for drilling or cutting. Its nerve-racking enough hacking into a perfectly good car, but not being 100% sure on locations takes it to another level.

    Hi LR Time. Very nice video...again.
    Question on the Bravo snorkel: would you think it is really waterproof enough for a serious river crossing?

    As a perfectionist and a German those 2 missing rivets must have been hell for you! Lovely job, so what's next, maybe a kangaroo guard as I'm sure there could be a problem with these around Frankfurt?

    awesome stuff!
    i note you talk about dust, is that the main purpose, i always thought it was to allow you to wade in insane depths of wet stuff?

    • @Vera_and_Christian
      @Vera_and_Christian  Před 3 lety +1

      There is more to wading than a raised air intake. On our 15 year old D3, there are several sensors that do not seem to be water tight, also the ecu box hast broken clips. We do believe that considerable damage could potentially done to our car, going into deeper water. 🙋‍♀️ Vera

      @leeloo21231234 Před 3 lety +1

      On all cars, even with a snorkel, the maximum wading depth is the one recommended by the manufacturer. Even in the best scenarios, ( staying in the limit ) there are consequences and maintenance to do, after each wading. Most snorkels are for dust, and they work better with the cyclone style filter cap in very dusty conditions.

      @@leeloo21231234 The Disco wading depth is 700mm - for the new Defender it is 900mm - A JLR dealer told me that that was the depth that the vehicle would start to float.
