American Airlines Economy Plus: Revealing the experience

- First time featuring American Airlines on the channel on one of their flagship transatlantic routes aboard their 797-9 from Philadelphia through to London Heathrow.
All in all a decent experience with the American flag carrier but a little mixed…
On the plus sides the seats and entertainment were fantastic. The service was friendly and efficient if not a little brisk. Being able to book the main cabin extra seats free of charge as result of One World status was a huge perk with the additional legroom be it in the bulkhead as I had or just behind, absolutely fantastic.
Downsides wise the food was borderline inedible with a lot of alcoholic drinks and Wi-Fi only available at a high additional rate.

Thank you for sharing your trip. Yes, being in Economy Class, the leg is a "must" to have in different parts of the cabin. Sitting right behind a bulkhead wall or right at Door 3L or 3R.
Legroom for sure helps, given a choice of probably go slightly behind so I can pop my legs under the seat in front but the legroom here was fab!
I’ve recently found that the design of the seat is really key also, just the angle of the recline can make a big difference with the tail bone comfort for sure! 😅
@@Travelsbydreamer 😂 Hahaha! Thanks. Yes, for me being 6'2" in height with long legs, I try hard to have and find those good spaces in Economy. I have my points for the upgrades for the extra space.
@@LMays-cu2hp points are for sure always useful! They tend to buy a lot of comfort in my experience 😃
@@Travelsbydreamer I hear you. Fly safe always.
Nice job Rich
Thanks matey!
Great video! Do you know anything about main cabin extra on AA?
Thank you! This was the main cabin extra featured in this video, I’ll be flying it again and reviewing it for the channel so stay tuned for that one also! 😃
Having flown on both British and American carriers across the Atlantic to 6 different US cities ( some more than once) I personally think you cannot beat Virgin or BA, I prefer BA but can only speak for economy or economy +
Jet Blue may break the mould for American airlines but twin aisle is my preferred choice (Concorde excluded ;)
Yeah, that’s a lot of what I hear. I haven’t done Virgin PE in years but would assume it’s still head and shoulders ahead of BA in terms of premium feel?
Can remember having bubbly with them upon boarding with separate bathrooms for PE cabin etc - just felt a cut above the BA experience…
Love your honesty about how crap the food was!
Haha thank you
Did look petty grim it reminds me of that vacuum packed rice that you can get in the UK in the cheaper food stores.
@@r12004rewy yeah a good descriptor, absolutely grim
❤
American hell no
Haha, back with them soon!
Economy Plus seats = bulkhead seats? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Nope, main cabin extra area, first 4-5 rows or so. Legroom was fantastic even just beyond.
Given a choice of go non bulkhead so you can get your feet under the seat in front without a hard stop. Typically not a big fan for bulkhead for that reason
Oh that's great to know. Thought it was the bulkhead seats. And I absolutely agree about the extra legroom underneath the seat in front!@@Travelsbydreamer
