Just returned from Heathrow to JFK (both ways) Premium seats. Unbelievable customer care, good food and drinks. Definitely worth the upgrade.
Excellent video and comparison. I particularly liked how you showed photos of headsets, meals, etc of both Premium Economy and Classic Economy for comparison purposes. Really helped the viewer get a clear understanding of the differences between the two classes and to make a determination for themselves whether they would pay the differential or not.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the review 😎
You sold me. I don't care what the price is, I want to be comfortable for the 7 hour trip to London. Thanks.
Beautiful video. I’m a heavier fellow, so knowing the seats are bigger was a big factor in my booking, thank you 😊
You are by far the best and most informative reviewer, especially for Virgin premium because of your abundance of reviews. Keep up the really good videos!
Thanks for the comment 🙏
Lovely no nonsense reporting that's actually really worth it. Subscribed!
Thank you 🙏
I have no option than to go Premium due to having an overweight son with Autism. The staff go above and beyond .Hoping to be traveling soon with Virgin Atlantic. Service is second to none
Really useful vid thankyou. I’m a big guy, so having a direct comparison between the economy and premium seat dimensions is very very useful. Nice work 👍
Glad it was helpful! 🙏
Brilliant review told me everything I needed to know and more , thanks 👍
Thank you!! This helped so much !! Especially with the amenities and leg room.
Thanks for the comment. Appreciate it 😎
Thank you! Very helpful
Excellent and in depth review, just what I was looking for. Love the detail involved.
Thank you 🙏
Just paid ridiculous amounts for 4 seats for my family in August to San Francisco, way more than 100%... better be worth it!
Because I am 6‘4“ or 1.83 m tall, I’m going to use premium economy on my flights from San Francisco to London. Makes me feel better that it is worth the extra $200 (£157).
Good review. I really liked the side by side comparisons of premium and Economy
Thanks 👍
Thanks for that review. Very informative on the differences
Thank you 🙏
Great addition of the infographics
Very informative, thank you
Thanks for watching 🙏
Really impressed with the mile high tea. I am big fan of premium economy especially on the British carriers. Both Virgin & BA offer really products, well worth the upgrade if you’re looking for a great experience but not paying business class level fares
I’d be tempted to use Virgin’s PE again for a night flight due to the extra comfort but all in all a full fare PE is not worth the cost of what essentially is another transatlantic flight. The whole experience is realistically just “slightly” better but it gives some the impression that it is vastly superior to economy.
I flew Virgin Premium last month..well worth the extra!
Very informative. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Very professional review. Very helpful.
Thank you 😎
Thank you for the detailed video and excellent commentary. We chose Premium Economy for our flight from LAX to Heathrow for a pre-cruise flight. We hope that arriving a bit more rested will help us begin our vacation in better condition.
Thank you 🙏 I hope you enjoy your flight and cruise 😎
I’ll be doing the EXACT same next summer
Very helpful and well presented
Thank you :-)
I just did man to jfk there and back with upper class for the first time what an amazing experience highly recommend
All good, interesting to know .
Good review. I’m a big fan of the VA PE product which, whilst not cheap or perfect, I believe hits the sweet spot for price/ comfort and is so good that these days I find it hard to justify the jump in cost for UC, especially on day flights. Keep up the good work.
Thanks 🙏
Amazing video ❤before covid we traveled premium economy we very much loved all the experience it was amazing, we are definitely going again in premium economy every time 😊xx
Thank you 🙏 it certainly is a good premium economy experience compared to other airlines.
I used points to book this flight soon. Looking forward to it! Thanks for the review.
Hope you enjoy it!
This is super useful! I’ve been checking a few videos on CZcams finally found someone compared the seats and food at details…just wondering how you managed to get a seat on row 21? They’re not available for selection now 50 days away from departure, do we need to wait till some point? Thanks
I Like The Product Premium Economy.Great Work
Glad you like it!
brilliant review well done
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
Very interesting and informative
Thank you 🙏
Was a fair review
Brilliant 👏🏽 👏🏽
Thank you 🙏
Great video thanks so much 😁 do you recommend booking premium at the point of booking or is it cheaper to book after I know sometimes airlines offer special deals on upgrades. Don’t want to risk upgrading at check in in case there’s non left
Thanks for the comment.
If you only want to fly Premium and wouldn’t be happy with Economy, I would book Premium rather than hoping for an upgrade later on.
Thanks for the video! I think I'll upgrade ❤
Thanks. Enjoy the flight 😎
Great work on the review!!! Keep it up!!!
Question:
If you had to choose premium economy once, either for a night flight or day flight, which would you choose and why?
Thanks for the comment. 🙏
If it’s a choice of Premium one way and Upper the other, I would choose Premium for the day flight and Upper for the night flight. But if it’s Premium vs Economy, I would choose Premium for the night flight. Basically I’d always go for the better cabin on the night flight in the hopes of getting more sleep.
@@DoorsToAuto Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. Keep up the good work!
Thank you - this was really helpful, I liked the comparison. Just checking - were all drinks and food included?
Thanks 🙏 Yes, everything onboard was included. The only up-sale on offer was to buy a small bottle of champagne for a celebration.
How is the 25k last row in premium economy with the bulkhead behind me? Will my seat recline all the way? I looked at the map and they have 23h and 23k as preferred preferred sitting.
Good review.
Thanks!
Well done!
Thanks 🙏
Very good 👍🏻
Thanks for the visit
What you should know and you might have gotten hints from the video is that Virgin Atlantic economy is quite good, especially for it not being an Asian carrier.
Interesting you say that no lounge access is included, as my holiday invoice says that I can use No 1 Lounge at Heathrow but that may just be compliments of my holiday provider. I'm flying to Johannesburg in June next year and found this video informative and helpful. Thank you.
Thank you. I think your No 1 Lounge access must be through your holiday provider. Premium doesn’t get access to the Virgin Clubhouse (although you can purchase entry on the day if there’s space).
Nice video
Thanks 😊
Loved the video. Roll on 11th October to Miami for a week. What's the wifi like for the flight/cost and would it be all flight to use laptop? Tom
Thanks. Enjoy your flight. The Wi-Fi quality really depends on the aircraft you are on. Each type of aircraft has a different Wi-Fi provider. Personally I find GoGo on the Airbus A330-300 the most reliable. The cost is normally between £20-£30 for the whole flight, although there are cheaper options for shorter periods. I’ve not connected a laptop, but tend to switch between an iPhone and an iPad during flights, without much issue.
PE on Virgin was always much better than BA back in the day. I used to do LHR to SFO/JFK a lot and a Saturday out was way cheaper than Economy on a Sunday (even factoring in one night extra hotel cost). Plus you could get to Gold Card status much faster (and stay there). That card got me bumped up a class on many an occasion. Not sure how it all works these days, seems like all the pre Pandemic rules are out the window!
It was amazing when it was on the old jumbo jets in the bubble
Thanks for the upload. From previous experience I found P.E. was definitely worth the extra, though my regular long haul isn’t the expensive Transatlantic route. I think the wine in a can is a real low for Virgin, ugh. Some years ago B.A. kindly upgraded me from PE to Business, clever move as from that day on it was Business every time😁 They have now hiked the price post Pandemic so I’ve switched to KLM/A.F. for a much better deal. Regarding Heathrow, T3 is now unacceptable for one of the World’s major hubs. Time for a complete rebuild I think.
Thanks for the comment. The logic behind the wine in a can is that it’s more environmental than plastic bottles and can be recycled. But I agree it doesn’t look good. Handing out a decent glass served from a full sized bottle would be better.
@@DoorsToAuto I’m very anti plastic and alternatives should always be used when possible. As it’s P.E. a glass would be as you said, an obvious choice. Cheers.
i like it...more leg room...better meal service.....just more comfortable flying
Oh my nemesis the VS787, the most decent seat option is the bulkhead PE cabin and Shai kind of acknowledged that in a recent interview giving a big hint that VS will move to an all Airbus fleet which is not good news for those of us who hate the suite on the B787 and A333 as they certainly won’t refit the 787 and the retirement of the A333 won’t come fast enough, anyway rant over as always your reviews are comprehensive and well put together.
Your post makes little sense. If you hate the 787 if they're going to an all Airbus fleet? You won't have to fly the 787 then?
Thanks for the showing us joined the viewside of the sky into our red airlines became famous service. ;-)
We're you on a Dreamliner? The Premium looks quite nice. When I come to England, I'll have to fly Upper Class, though, as I am handicapped and would need to lie down. When I am taking shorter hops, such as to my brother's home in Virginia, I fly Delta's Comfort Plus. Its very much like VA's Premium. As domestic airlines go, Delta is the best, here in America. I really enjoyed your video. When I fly to Manchester, it'll be on an A330.(not sure which variant) I've heard so many good things about Virgin, as opposed to stuffy ol' BA. Glad Virgin is part of Skyteam!
Yes, it was a Dreamliner. Those and the A330s have a slightly smaller cabin in a 2-3-2 layout rather than 2-4-2, which is nice.
which would you pick: the 789-9 or A350 premium economy seats? I like the 2 -3-2 configuration on the Boeing vs 2-4-2 on the AB.
I think the 789 or 330. The 2-3-2 config has wider armrests/drinks table between the seats.
@@DoorsToAutothanks for the confirmation!
I am pretty sure at Gatwick in 2019 in Premium i got fast track security
@DoorsToAuto, can you tell me where did you buy, that tripod with suction cup? What is the model? Thank you

@@DoorsToAuto wow, thank you bro! You are a nice man
That's a huge difference in price. I've just pre booked my trip for January 2024 and the difference was only £75 each way UK to USA and back between Econ Classic and Premium. I thought such a small difference made it well worth the upgrade.
I'm about to book my flight for mid October and the price difference is barely anything too. Definitely worth it, imo.
I’ve done the same for January 2024 to JFK from Manchester premium was only an extra £60 per person each way and I can’t wait for the flight
@@jamiegrace8463 Same, Manchester to JFK, might even be on the same flight lol. Unlikely though to be fair.
@@thegeneral123 3rd January?
@@jamiegrace8463 No way... yup! I don't want to ask which seat you're in as this is getting spooky lol.
I travel a lot between Manchester UK and Cities in the USA. My experience. Fly out in Business Class and back in premium economy. Why ?Going, Great fun and chat , drinks . Coming back, Staff weary and bored , bar closed everyone wants to sleep after the meal.
Since I’ve lived in Miami (40 years) and my family is in the UK, I pretty much take VA whenever I make the trip. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel in Upper Class using points, but mostly I use PE. I just think it’s worth splurging on a long flight if you can. I don’t think it’s worth it traveling domestically in the US, especially on smaller planes. I don’t sleep on the planes, so the extra space on VA is worth it to me. An ex airline employee in Florida.
Virgin clearly put effort into their service but their turnover between flights needs work. The floor where the charger was was filthy. #DoBetterVirgin
It all looks good - except for that purple lighting! Does it really look like that? I was feeling nauseous just looking at the video for a few minutes. I could never take an 8 hour flight with that.
I dont second that.. I flew premium last year Boston to London… and the plane was old, the seats were barely clean… and the flight attendant just quite about knowing what to do… Probably worth better than economy but not truly a huge difference. with Virgin better fly First or not fly
How did you get the front row, its never open for selection for me.
The front row only gets allocated on the day at the airport, unless you require the baby bassinet. Just ask at check-in.
Can I ask do you get free alcoholic drinks in both premium and standard economy? Many thanks . Going from Heathrow to NYC with Virgin
Yes. All drinks on board are complimentary. They may only get served during drinks services sometimes, and not always available from the Galley.
Thank you for this information
Is there a footstool? Thanks x
Yes, there is a fold down foot rest for all seats except the front row. There, they bring around footstools after takeoff which can be placed in front of the seat.
There’s still been a reduction in quality of P.E. Services… small stuff but noticeable… the afternoon sandwiches used to be 3 now only 2… lots of little things add up…. But Upper Class sure ain’t worth it unless there’s a sale on… I’ve got 2 Upper Class flights to the Eastern Coast ( JFK out, MCO Orlando back £2k each 👍 that’s a steal 👍
How did you get 21 k its blocked off when booking
The front row is only available at the airport, unless you have a baby. Just ask at check-in.
There's a full meal near the power sockets...
No question, VA PE is significantly better than BA's PE. It's not perfect but it's so much more premium and not economy+ as BA is
Thanks. But the dimensions of the seats were beyond me. I know that inches are pouces, used generations ago when there were no airplanes.
Virgin quote imperial rather than metric measures on their own website. 21” is equal to just over 53cm.
If you can afford it, it is
plane is filthy!
nothing less will do for me, a little bit of luxury, oh yeah
If you are a two, the pairs of seats by the windows are great. For a day flight I’d be perfectly happy with this service.
I wouldn't pay £50 for the upgrade
So much better than Singapore airlines
They are not worth the money
Whats with that pink ? That would give me bloody migraine. Looks like a knocking shop.
Anything is better than sitting with the povvo’s 😅
You get what you pay for I will never travel on Spirit Airlines again
Spirit Airlines is the flying ghetto in the sky!!
I went economy to Antigua last year. Wine was given in a can! It was undrinkable. The Stewardess said it was served the same in Premium. Not glass bottles. The hot food was same as Premium. It was served in a box! Do not go economy with Virgin. Wine is awful and no option.
Guys, do not believe it! I flew Virgin Premium Class and it is NOT great. Only on some of the flights do you get those cubicle-like seats. Most flights will have verticle seats that are no better than economy. Secondly, the "goodie bag" is full of cheap, dime-store products and the headphones fell apart 4 out of 4 times. VIP lounge? Nice, if you're in London and only in London. On top of that, they lost my luggage and they didn't even have a Virgin Atlantic booth in the airport to assist. NEVER AGAIN.
The short answer is no. Dedicated faster track checkin is irrelevant as you can check-in online with seat reservations in economy. Ever so slightly wider seats and marginally better food. These definitely don't even justify £300. Economy classic on virgin is pretty good anyway. Save your money to spend at the destination
Use Premium depending on where you go, when I fly to Barbados its always VA PE because most times you are outside sitting in your car way way under an hour after landing.
You sped up the takeoff roll. Goodbye.
Needs a deep clean, 5:05 🤮
Did this a couple of times LAX to LHR. Awful experience. Hard seats, mediocre food. Won't be doing it again. And what is it with those pillows? Away from the bulkhead you have someone reclined into your lap. Torture......
No
3:35 how anyone would pay double the price of economy for that is shocking. as they say a fool and his money are easily parted
Just because you can’t afford it, doesn’t mean others cant
