  • Absolutely no idea why but Austria has been killing it every game recently, even more than usual. The reason you may see some not colonizing at all is the cost.

    It would be cool to see "EU4 but all dynasties are nations" according to the starting dynasties of course. Ideas are easy as most cultures only have one country but there are cases where it can get interesting (I think Spain would be united from the start for example or Habsburgs might have land here there and the same goes for Wittelsbach. Republics could stay unchanged so Dithmarschen is still Dithmarschen etc.
    It would also be cool to see all government reforms as a country, meaning that all monarchies are a one single country, all bishoprics are a one country, all monastic orders are a one country etc. The country name could just be the name of the governmental type like "Bishoprics" "monarchies" etc. They could also have the idea sets of the best representative of that government type so papal ideas for the Bishopric and so on.

    Maybe do a video where you do some sort of tech cost modifier where you essentially inverse the spread of tech so it’s natives (America Australia) then sub Saharan Africa etc. just flip the order of tech in custom nation designer. Have it be up to 250% increase

    • @CulusMagnus
      @CulusMagnus Před 3 lety +1

      Another way is to make the penalty for not embracing an institution a buff by flipping the sign

    • @Speedster___
      @Speedster___ Před 3 lety +3

      @@CulusMagnus I don’t want that as most institutions spawn in Europe so not embracing it is equal across the globe. I want it to be where Europe is multiple tech levels behind Sub Saharan Africa. As in I want mil tech 7 (canons) to be taken in sub Saharan first.
      My solution is Give each tech group a tech cost Malus (easily moddable as all you need to do is but it as a National focus as afaik 3 bonuses are allowed or you can give every country a National modifier.) then in order of custom nation designer tech cost inverse the cost so the most expensive tech group is +250% and the cheapest is 0%.

      That the ottomans frequently does so good is at least historically accurate. I hate more what has been done to america and how even before the europeans arrive they have large nation states with 80-120 development in total. There is almost no room for colonizing there anymore and almost always it ends up with the natives conquering small colonies. This is also a problem with australia. if they really want to keep those natives there then they need to double the provinces to allow proper colonization. Ming is also an issue since they can abuse tributaries so hard that they easily keep up with tech levels throughout the whole game.
