Now, material wealth and worldly success holds little value for me. Now, I am trying more to "lay up treasures in heaven". The books of Ecclesiastes, Psalms, and the Gospels are inspiring. I tell my kids (and others) that money is a tool. It helps facilitate other things. The only value it has is what it can provide for you - food, shelter, travel, freedom, etc.

Inflation is man made, somebody in the supply chain one day decide to increase price. Currency dropped because US keep printing money caused devaluation of other currencies and inflation is related to US printing money as well.
Sometimes i think foreigners coming to sg nowadays are squeezed alot more, especially housing, may increase from $3500 to $4500! same house renting out, house nothing changed !
You can do the research yourself, the two factors that brings unhappiness are born extremely wealthy or born with extreme beauty. Being born extremely wealthy you do not have the opportunity or means to nurture your true self as your wealth and your social circle will bring you money, machinery, materials and sex but you will never know who you really are or why you exist. Being born with great beauty you will have lots of doubts on who you really are or why you exist as your beauty and your social circle will bring you loneliness because they were attracted your beauty not you, and the money, machinery, etc are just the means to your beauty. The rest of us, we have plenty of time to suffer and find out who we really are or what we want to be and attract people who will share this short journey through life with the happiness of knowing who we really are and why we are here.

First of all a person needs to first maximize his earning, save as much as possible before talking about investing to grow the wealth. Many people in Singapore are not like you and I that started career in US to earn high salary from job. I have to admire you that you are an amazing woman than reach financial freedom before 40 as your lifestyle pretty much says it all.
