Nothing is wrong with being alone. I am an introvert, more of a social introvert. I enjoy being analytical and having a "me" time, which recharges me. When I'm around people, my energy level gets depleted easily, so extended meetups would exhaust me. That's why I can connect with your channel, as you are genuine and do not bother about what other people perceive of you.

I totally get you. I find dinners, drinking sessions a waste of time & its liver damaging. I'm at my happiest at home or going outside with no plans in mind. No rushing of schedules.

Yes, I don't understand why most people drink beer/wine/alcohol when it damages the liver.
I drink coffee, tea, milk and water only.
Even if not introvert still need alone time. So true. My partner travels on business some times and I so much enjoy being alone for a few days. But also so much true is the old saying that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Always a big moment when returns. 💖💕 We are all our own selves. It's not differences which divide us, it is a failure to recognise and accept them which does.

I have a few friends also. but i feel that we need friends as an emotional support or support in general. For instance, there are many things that I do not know on my own, but its through the friends I have that can give me more insights into certain matters. Also, truly good friends can be there for you to share your successes, and give you a pep talk when you are down!

I too go solo-travelling, karaoke alone, eat alone and spend my weekends alone! That has been happening for the past 27 years of my life, however, I still get lonely as a result and I really agree that it is a state of mind which takes time to develop. I still occasionally meet up with friends but still 80% of my time is spent alone, perhaps it is by choice now. Would definitely like to hear your thoughts in future videos what does it take to get rid of that loneliness and be satisfied with oneself although this video pretty much is a good summary! Sometimes the joy of being alone manifest itself the best for activities like solo-travelling 🤔

Hello from SG! 😃 Thank you for sharing this video as I find it inspiring. I am similar to you - Been in SG for almost 9 years but I don’t have friends here. I always hang around on my own and I really enjoy my own me-time. I would rather be on my own than forcing myself to be with someone I don’t click with.

You did mention you appreciate deep, meaningful relationships. I can relate to that too… friends who will tell you when you suck, not just hi/bye friends who always tell you how great you are or keep quiet about your faults. So if you’re prepared to accept deep, meaningful relationships, a life companion can be that sounding board to you, that mirror to your self and your soul. Sometimes it’s hard to see yourself truthfully. You need someone who cares about you enough to show you truthfully where your weaknesses and improvements needed are.
You will need people to tell your weakness when you don’t have high self awareness of yourself. So we all need to develop self awareness :)
I enjoy me time to organise my thoughts. That’s why I like to lunch alone at work. But I also enjoy social time with close friends whom we share similar values and have endless topics to chat about. Those times are also my “offloading” session! 100% with you on not wasting time with people who have very different values because they just drain you instead of energize you.

Living this way is sooo good! it brings mental clarity, peace, a feeling of freedom. Without spending energy and time on things that aren't worth it, without having unnecessary problems, focusing only on your goals, your health, your peace of mind... I wish you much success on your journey, you are an amazing person. :D

i totally get you , I chose not having any friends. Friends are a waste of time and there's no perfect friends , I myself is a terrible friend who doesn't care . Not having any makes me a happier person

This remind me (Kevin) of my college days as although I was sharing an apartment with friends, I still did a lot of things by myself such as going to movies by myself, dining by myself (it's always funny getting asked back then if I was there for to-go order) and going on walks by myself. I also grew up in Singapore so always nice to see Singapore in videos!

I am very selective when it comes to selecting those people that I can be friends with. But I also can tolerate friends for social reasons. It is just how things work. If I find time to be alone I do so as I prefer peace and spend the day thinking what life is and what am I in this life

Hi Koala, i 💕 your latest video. You remind me of myself. I am also a loner in Singapore, have few friends. Its better for us have one or few true friends rather than hundreds of fake friends. You are staying in Sg for 7 years, waow. Time flies. I am staying here 14 years already. More than you. As you know Singapore is hectic and stressful country. In order to make me happy, i do volunteering with a lot kf organisation and gain experience from there. Meet up new friends too. ☺️😊😃😄

Each individual has their own way of managing their social circles. There are people that have tonnes of friends and those that keep in touch with friends who are trustworthy and reliable or have the same frequency.
I'd stick to those people with the latter.
Being Asians, knowing that our parents are getting on ages, I think it's equally important to spend time with them before you realise that you don't have many fond memories with your ageing parents when they departed from this World.
Cherish every moment they have while you can...

Hi Koala, I can relate to a lot of what you described. In the past, I have had plenty of friends. But now, not so much. Sharing the same values and interests is very helpful. I think that in many ways, alone time is important. I've never tried alone karaoke though, unless occasionally singing in the shower counts. It's nice that you have some very close friends that understand. Best wishes always,

I’m an infj and I currently have one good friend. I’ve had friends in the past, but I’ve burned too many times. I’m very selective of who I share my energy with and have found peace and happiness in being alone. I also enjoy deep connections and know I’ll make more of the right friends in due time 🙂

But Koala, that yellow wall HDB shoot… some of the shots could not have been done without a friend as they were motion camera angles. I thought you did the entire sequence on your own, but I realised it can’t be done all by yourself. 😊

No man’s an island. We are created as social beings. As someone who is on a wheelchair, I always desire to get out and meet my friends. Lucky for me my friends of 50 years ago still catch up with me for lunch.

I think the societal pressure to have friends and be an extrovert is just an American thing. Here in Singapore I've never felt or seen any of this pressure at all.

As a fellow introvert (I am INTP), I can relate to most of what you say. However, I find that being able to live a fulfilling introverted life requires a lot of $$$$ and freedom from immediate family commitments (eg needy elderly parents) even if trying to be minimalistic….Also, while I agree we don’t need too many friends nor hangout buddies, let’s face it….we still need people in general. I need my employers while you need your patreons, coachees, and subscribers… for inspiration like you say. We also need to think about who will care for us when we are alone in older age and may be less mobile/healthy to enjoy our freedom doing what we want to do…..maybe check into a nursing home or hire personal butlers? Lol. Just my thoughts…..

As a fellow introvert (ISFJ), I can relate. We are absolutely capable of being alone and happy at the same time. The "extra" me time does allow us more opportunities to reflect and to appreciate the things around us.

I believe Japan or Europe would be more suited for you. In Singapore, people are generally not well-read, so they lack in wisdom and judge a lot based on their own standards.

Friends are many. If You want to have GOOD friends, it is so easy, my dear. How?
Very simple. Stop looking for friends. And start being a real friend to people. Humans are fantastic. You will see the great people emerging from everywhere. Of course there are duds and selfish people...and many are. Expect it, Cultivate, yes you gonna work hard for the enduring & endearing ones u want to keep. You ll need a set of good listening and people reading skills, tho. Not being judgemental.
Only question is: Be honest, are you up to it, being a great friend to someone or many people?
Me I dun need many friends, so I dun complain the lack of friends. I ain't no good farmer in cultivation , in line with my nature.
In the end, like a farmer, you reap what you sow; be contented with what your soul is and therefore, wants. Your nature ll not allow you have many friends, neither do you need or desire them. You may hv many transient and fair weather friends who admire you and attracted to your aura, tho... and sorry to say, out of these, many are fakes.

It seems to me that being alone has become quite a trend nowadays. I mean, usually people don't dare to share such ideas online because they feel shy or inferior to tell people they don’t have any friends. But coming across such youtube videos more and more nowadays, it seems people are getting more open about not haivng friends.

Being a spiritual person, I find it hard to find people who thinks and feels like me. Singapore is such a spiritual desert. People are more interested in material stuff and ordinary things in life. Who is interested in God or spiritual topics? Nobody. And even if I mention spiritual, most people would think I am talking about ghosts and spirits. People have no idea what is spirituality in this little red dot. Is it a religion? No. But we believe in God, so why is it not religious? Only a true spiritual person will understand me.
Most of my spiritual friends are overseas. I do miss interacting with them. Being alone means I don't have to buy new clothes to impress anyone. That save me lots of money from buying clothes. I can wear the same clothes multiple days before washing.
Being alone means I have more time to do my own things like meditation and exercise. Being alone means I can go anyway I like without having to wait for someone.
Being alone means I am not subjected to listen to what people think about what I do and what I like. I just do what I like doing.
Being alone means I have more time to be with my higher self, my soul and God. I love feeling God in my life as Peace. I dunno about you, but I think most people have never feel peace in their entire life without knowing it. God is peace and peace is God. God is light and light is God. Simple, but rare unless you meditate like me.

I am staying at my home alone for 3 months during covid. A few days is a nothing burger😊 btw happiness is depending on our state of mind not the outside environment. When you depend psychologically on other person for your happiness.... Your happiness is gone.
