Jeremy Clarkson in his toyota "HELP - HELP!"
Stephen Fry in his cab "help. help."
"Mildly moist indeed" Aww bless him, he's got his taxi on tv and he's gone all Top Gear :D The beard is sick though.
Imagine Jonathan's conversation after taking Fry's call.
"Sorry about that, it's just Stephen Fry. He's stuck in a cab on the Thames"
He looks proper gangsta with that beard on pulling up in a Range Rover 😂
“The right stuff. Not really”. Drama and perspective in 5 words. Crack on Stephen.
I would have enjoyed seeing the work done on the car. Those guys are the real stars of the show.
Yes there was much more to present.
Like any testing to learn if it would capsize. Steering? And I noted that they didn’t show the landing. Apparently not successful landing. Driving out of the Thames was as important as driving in.
Are we sure this is actually Stephen fry and not Richard Hammond on stilts?!
He doesn't sound like an angry brummy hamster, that rules him out.
@@Idle_Hands please look up r/wooosh
@@Idle_Hands Yeah, in your subjective opinion. You must be great fun at parties; asserting that everything you believe is fact!
@@Idle_Hands I bet that goes down well at the parties, eh?
Well, all the best in the future - although I just can't see why you'd need to comment on things you /don't/ find funny, telling the world as much. T'ra.
@@Idle_Hands I understand you. I always like to hear jokes, but I much prefer to hear intelligent jokes, not some worthless Reddit cringe.
Stephen should have applied to present Top Gear he'd make such a great presenter and one of the lads!
Thanks. Cheered me up no end amid the present world turmoil!! X
When I lived in London I was amazed on how little the river is used. You would expect commuting services like they have in Australian water ways.
*Flashbacks to Kingsman 2*
Brilliant idea considering, with all the recent flooding, river's are running through more towns than they used to!
If Jeremy Clarkson can make an amphibious car, then Stephen Fry's team of engineers and technologists can surely do better.
Looked like the same bod from TG doing it to me .....
Nothing beats the Hovervan™
Toyboata versus Dampervan...what was May's effort called?
@@vaclav_fejt a failure
Confused him with james may for a while
"road legal" has vanity plate on the front....
Guy arrives to rescue Stephen wearing goggles and snorkel
Great point about using the river aSs an everyday road.
With due expediency!
Putting on the Regency!
I think top gear did this many years ago....
W-H-O C-A-R-E-S
Dimitris Andreou ...you do
Twice, first James won kind of, second Jeremy won.
They also made a submarine out of a lotus haha
So what if they did?... if you paid attention they make a point of saying it's the first amphibious "cab" they make no claims of it being the first amphibious car in general. That's been done half a century ago, long before even top gear was a concept in some executives mind..
Where are the persons who don't like the word 'moist'? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
quite epic shot of the isle of dogs right here 2:16
The guy fixing the taxi. He is the same mechanic as who was on top gear I believe
Anyone Remember when Blue Peter did something similar with a Beetle back in the 80's
Awesome
I'd love to see Master Fry enter and exit from a water-tight sealed vehicle
that ramp where Stephen enters the water is the spot a friend died back in the 90's - she drove her car in as Stephen did and drowned along with her dog. So sad. ~trooper
Sorry to hear that. X
My condolences.
I love him with the beard
when the cabs a rockin, dont come a knockin
Yeah. It is hard to make something like this.
I drove in such a swimming car 30 years ago, so it’s not the first of its kind:) and that one worked
Dutton sell them based on a Suzuki Jimmy.
That's a pretty interesting idea. It makes me wonder if there would be a market for a fleet of small (20 to 30 car) roll on roll off ferry's on the waterways of London? There could be loading jetties at various less congested areas of the city, and people could use them like car transporting buses to cut around gridlocked areas. I'd think there'd be plenty of people willing to pay up to a 15 or 20 quid fee if it meant they'd avoid being sat in traffic for 3 hours when they need to get somewhere in a hurry.
The eco warrior types probably wouldn't like it though. They seem to believe that 100% of our travel needs can (and should) be catered for by public transport. :(
Use then in all the flooded villages around the country
If only there was Six River Bus routes running from 22 piers between Putney and Woolwich.
they exist in Rotterdam www.watertaxirotterdam.nl/ and cheaper than the 15 quid fee you are mentioning
There is something called the ‘river bus’!
@@davidx4591 yes believe it or not there are 6 routes running from Pitney to Woolwich

Am I watching Top Gear circa 2010 or so? It looks just like it.
There was about 9 different times durant this video I had to remind myself it isn’t top gear hahahajahah
KavaLogue what could possibly go wrong
Hilarious!
Steven looks so different I wouldn't recognise him.. funny Richard Ayoade now Steven doing Gadget Man
I believe it's other way around, it was Steven first then Richard...
Basically, a floating fake taxi ..
"How hard can it be?"
¨mildly moist¨
Chuck Yeager??????? LOL
Is anyone else getting a Jeremy Clarkson - Top Gear vibe from this?
A lot more civilized
Only it's not awful
@@bertrandd3813 The Jeremy Clarkson Top Gear years were not awful either.
More Jamea.
10 hp? He might make across the Thames in about an hour.
Your noises are like chitty chitty bang bang
what happened to Richard?
He didn't become a presenter until season three; the first two were presented by Stephen Fry.
2012??
You are not going to get a ten horsepower outboard to shift 3/4 of a ton . I wonder if you could get some sort of 'power take off ' so you could run it from the cabs engine . Land Rovers used to have them . You then need a pulling prop rather than a pushing one under the chassis -that should not be too difficult. Prop protectors which slice through obstructions are readily available and stiffer suspension very easy . You need to work out where the centre of gravity is as well and then you are away..
Stephen Fry is far better in hosting Gadget Man.
Stephen and Jeremy Clarkson need a fkn show together!
fry is a playing new version of Harry potter
I'm surprised Stephen didn't make a lame duck reference :) looks like it would roll over in the slightest of wakes.
I wanna start a boyband called Mildly Moist now, who's in ?
herre verhagen yes
Glam rock?

The propeller housing, which i suspect holds the motor, can rotate from side to side.

CZcams: Stephen Fry drives a (possibly) amphibious car
Me: Well, I suppose it would be impolite for me to NOT watch this inevitable death. Too bad, I liked him.
may i intrest you in a hover van?
I know u want to put on stickers- fake taxi
He's looking like Tim Curry
An interesting little bit of theatre, Stephen. Having spent a not inconsiderable amount of time, effort and money converting an iconic utility vehicle into a 'basket case' on both the road, and the water, it is hard to see exactly what point was being made though, really. 😆✌️
To get traction on a slippery ramp, He might better take a 4WD or at least FWD car...
I wouldn't consider it a success as it's just a waterproof car with a boat motor thrown on the back... if you had done it correctly it would be a car that goes in the water and propels itself with it's own engine and a mechanism that turns a propeller the same way the wheels are turned to move forward(or backwards too if you wanna be technical)...
Umm... pretty sure 100 years ago the Thames was a major transport corridor. It was also impossible to cross and full of garbage. No, 'congestion busting' revolves around making it possible for humans to transport themselves without big machines (ie. walk or ride bicycles). The Dutch know how to do it...
Weirdest episode of fake taxi....
It is sad when 1 show has to copy another shows idea in the same country to try and make a go of it as it were. ;) Obviously Mr. Williams would have signed off a permission form to copy ideas or it is just different enough to save the legal hassles.
It's amazing what Stephen Fry does for money these days
Like having fun and getting paid? i know of worse gigs
with all his money, he couldnt find anyone to make it less "home made"?
looks like a blue peter shows "heres one we made earlier"
David David ....are you seriously saying blue peter made one... i tried to make my comment as insulting as possible.....major fail on my part apparently...i had no idea they had made one... lol
David David....alas im far from too young haha, by 1985 i had stopped watching it...too old!
well at least i made a fail of epic proportions ;+)
thanks for the reply
The whiskers don’t help 🥺
Stephen Fry should present Top Gear. Its shit since Clarkson, May and Hammond left
Slower than a garden snail with a bad limp
Copy cat much?
why are they always so crap. give me a taxi cab body and 30k and il build you a better one Steve. or better idea get Colin Furze to make you one.
ps, good effort crap result.
