  • In an effort to see which is the quickest way to get across London, Hammond gets on his bike, James takes to the road and Clarkson goes for a ride down the river. But will they beat The Stig who's opted for good old public transport? Clip taken from series 10 episode 5.
    Watch The Stig ride public transport as Clarkson, May and Hammond join him in a race across london. What will be fastest between Stig on the Underground, Jeremy in a speedboat, Hammond on a pushbike and James May in a car?

    Ben Collins (The Stig) mentioned this race in his book, he basically was told by Andy Wilman (the producer) to be as unpredictable as possible.
    So all of what he did here:
    - Jumping the gun as the race started
    - Not answering the phone, although it would have been funny if he DID answer the phone but didn't speak.
    - Not using the escalator, acting as if he was confused about what it does.
    - Reading the paper and having Lewis Hamilton's name clearly visible
    Was NOT planned out in advance, the camera crew actually had a hard time catching up with him.

    • @acmenipponair
      @acmenipponair Před 4 měsíci

      well, the bike he rode is made to be the easiest to ride at that speed. Each bike type is designed for specific speeds. Women city bikes can barely go over 12-13 mph/20 kmh, as the users don't want more speed. Also these bikes are often heavier. Racing bikes on the other side are light and their gears are made for being fast. Which means you can easily stay at 19-22 mph all the time. A trekking bike is a middle ground - it will stay between 15-20 mph (20-35 km/h). When I bike on my trekking bike without any much pressure I easily stay at 25 km/h all the time and can go up to 35 before my gears will not allow me any more acceleration (you can then only get faster by going downhill).
