I don't blame you both for being suspicious of Maria's community, this show/game and the genre in general has trained us to be skeptical of communities that seem too good to be true, but it is funny you were so convinced Maria and co were going to attack Ellie and Joel but then after Joel and Ellie were actually attacked you're so unconcerned and convinced they'll be okay lol.

mariah is a part of a ruling council not in charge alone. that whole scene with joel and ellie is in the game basically word for word. y'all should play the game the series is following the game pretty closely. you can't really see the 3 act structure until the series is over lol
