I think you all missed
in the first episode there was a graphic that explained how long it takes for infection to take hold depending on the location of where you were bitten. They had hours for the infection to progress not minutes. Ellie would have time to see Riley getting symptoms while she remained symptom free. Can’t imagine how horrific that would have been for Ellie.

You guys are really good. Most people didn’t catch that Riley felt guilty about bringing Ellie to the mall.
Oh also, Storm Reid, who played Riley, won the Emmy for actress in a guest role in a drama (something like that). And Nick Offerman, who played Bill, won the Emmy for outstanding guest actor.

Ellie will bring more details in the next episodes of what happened after the two were bitten. In the context of this series, the fireflies return to the mall and meet Ellie. When Marlene realizes that some time has passed and Ellie has not yet become infected, she decides to place her under observation. In the final episode, the reason for this attitude will be explained.
You know it is a good story and well acted when Ayala starts crying.
This episode wasn’t originally in the game. It’s DLC where you play Ellie with Riley in the mall and it switches back and forth to Ellie trying to find a med kit to save Joel in the same time frame they are in this episode.

@@thosesiblingss yeah. Left Ellie’s friend as a mystery for a good while. Real glad they fit it into the show. I mean Bella Ramsay screaming no when she’s not is heart wrenching. She doesn’t know she’s immune yet. All she thinks is the future she just saw with Riley was ripped away.
Whether G/L or bi or pan or straight, many of us have had that moment of pained pining for someone you just desperately wish would look at you like you look at them.
It's SUCH a relatable thing.
The zombies, less so... but man.
And another episode that made me cry. I actually had to wait a bit to get the resolve to watch this reaction. Man. They came so close to happiness.

The infected Joel and Tess found in the first episode was not in the mall.
From where he was stabbed I would think that the injury would be more severe then you think.... You have to worry about the bowels and infection, sewing the outside wouldn't make much difference unless it literally must the bowels and didn't damage anything.
22:00 so far sister has been animated loving the whole episode, brother only truly has smiled so far when they broke out the coins.
