My wife has a 310GS. She’s 5’2”. I lowered hers with a Wilbers suspension unit and a progressive front fork spring. I didn’t go down the lowering link for the same reason that you found. She had the same problem as you with the stand. I took the stand off, cut it down by 60mm and welded a 60mm extension to the kickstand peg, powder coated it and now she can flick it up.

I tried one of those rear suspension adaptors on Kawasaki ER6F which it did but the original unit scraped on the bodywork. Wilbers made a replacement unit in 'standard' length plus two others 5mm and 10mm shorter, I opted for the 5mm one and it worked great. I raised the forks slightly through the yokes. Happy rider.

Ha, never thought to alter the gear lever when I had some new boots I just kept riding until the new boot fit under the lever better! As for seat heights, turned down a mates 1050 Triumph as I could only reach the floor on tippy toes, it had only done 8000 miles, on reflection I should have bought some high heels then bought it. Interesting and informative video Neil and Chantal. Ride safe as always.

I went with the HyperPro Front and Rear Performance Suspension Lowering Kit. It lowered the bike about 55mm (2”) and really made the difference for me since it allows me to practically flat-foot the bike. I had my local BMW shop do the installation. I’m 5’4” and really struggled with the bike as I live in the mountains. Before the lowering kit, I would get exhausted trying to maneuver my body so I wouldn’t drop the bike at intersections or unplanned stops. It was pricey, but now I feel like the bike is built for me.

Nice little demo of adjusting a bike to suit the rider, people shouldn't be afraid to alter settings to make it easier for themselves. I've just adjusted the gear link on the Gixxer by 5mm height and changes are smooth, not clunky anymore.
One small point- the threadlock should have been put on the shiny end bit, as that is the part of the thread that is screwed in (and where the original threadlock was taken off by being unscrewed).

Might have to get a lower profile tire if you get more aggressive nobs as you just pointed out...LOL I've never been a big fan of linkage-less suspension KTM ran them for years on their motocross bikes but eventually added linkages a few years back. I have similar issues with my brake pedal on my MX bike I have to run it lower then most people do because I have issues raising my right foot high enough to get over the top of it so I lowered it a bit. Nice mods, nothing like feeling comfy on your bike.

Super helpful. Any issues with the shifting once you had adjusted the lever? I did mine and found it didn't want to change gear when adjusted upwards so I had to put it back down. Lots of false neutrals or refusal to shift at all. I thought maybe I had shortened or affected the throw at the front ball joint too much. I'll give it another go when my bike is back from the dealer. I have a 2021 MY with cold start issues - can be annoying when it's 2 degrees down in Tassie and she refuses to take me to work!

Also - for your next upgrades I'm running bark busters (stock guards lasted one drop), the OEM crashbars and aluminium skid plate have already paid for themselves, but something like SRC or SW Motech ($$$) may be a better bet for upper fairing protection. I also have Motoz Tractionator Adventure tyres (very grippy but a little loud on ashphalt), and an R&G radiator guard or similar is a must have. It throws lots of mud and dirt up at the radiator. Hi guys! I am 1.65 mts, in other words a short person. I had also problems with the high of my G310 GS. What I did? I just bought the lower seat and bought higher shoes to drive the motorcycle.
Before that, I asked in BMW about how to decrease the high of the motorcycle and they were very strong saying in Not modify the high of the forks as in the video is explained due if you do it, you are modifying the structure of the design, that can affected the driving in turns and also in high speed. Is a modification in gravity center. Is something not simple.
