Onewheel Pint Off Road Review Range Test and Nosedive // I Survided

- I wanted to see how the Onewheel Pint would handle some off roading and see how the range would be effected. I typically get a good bit less range on my Onewheel Plus when I take it off-road compared to just city streets carving so I wanted to see if the Pint was the same. I dont have a onewheel XR to compare with the pint but my plus should be fairly similar.. I was also very curious how the small tire on the pint would handle rocks, gravel, grass etc and see if the extra torque would help! I also ended up with a little nosedive on the pint, thankfully it was pretty soft but man I gotta do a better job of staying ready!

Huuge thanks to my wife for helping me with the edit and thumbnail!
Oh and if I can can rail guards that look like my thumbnail I will be all over it! I had to edit the **** out of the sage pint to get it to look like that lol.
Weird fall. The nose of the board was so low. Going uphill when you hit that divot? Glad you're okay.
Yea it was uphill, battery below 50% and I was prolly a little too much weight forward.... thankfully it was soft😃 def made me think I prolly should have been better padded up...
I took my worst fall accelerating uphill, it takes a second for the board to level out when you accelerate
Yea I really didn’t think I accelerated much, and the pint has been better at accelerating but I guess I pushed it a little too much lol.
I have a serious first time user question and I cant imagine a greater person to ask than you Jimmy. I just got a Pint.. I have ZERO experience with any board of any kind or with any electric device like this in general. I spent the whole first day on a tire that had over 20 PSI which I later found out is a big no no even on an XR who's tire is more stable and less rounded. Will having the proper PSI make it feel a little more stable and handle bumps better? My only experience with it so far my tire was solid as a rock. Any suggestions on how to make my balance more stable so I have more confidence? This thing can be really fun but I don't wanna brake my ankle one week into trying to learn it. I wanna go about this the right way so I don't have a $1,000 paper weight I'm to afraid to ride. Any advice you have would be vital to me. Thanks in advance.
cFlan How much do you weigh? Psi is gonna be different for most people depending on weight and whether you’re riding off-road or on pavement.
Glad to see you showcasing taking the Onewheel off road because it really shines off the road more than on. after discovering single track trails on the XR I never really went back to roads. Especially providing the Onewheel is an awesome off season alternative to snowboarding
Yea man I totally get it. I have loved taking my plus on trails, I was excited to see that the pint held its own too, the trail I was on was really rocky but still a pretty good test.
I love your video! I think this is my favorite onewheel pint video on CZcams! I’ve watched tons and tons of videos on the pint, I’ve got a onewheel plus and my pint is shipping on August 30th 2019. Love onewheels to death. Float on my friend🤘
Whoa thanks big time man! That’s some damn high praise! Super exciting about the pint! What color did u get???
Wow!! Thanks for this definitely getting one. I got a big yard that i was curious if this could handle it, u rode it hard through rocks n all perfectly. 🤟🏼
thanks, I wouldnt say perfectly lol but I got it done lol. Have fun!
I was considering the XR. But after watching this. I might go with the Pint. I don't need range or speed. Just something FUN to ride.
yea its great for that for sure and helps save a lot of money...
You want the larger battery and tire
That was me also. I love the Pint. Riding the hell out if it. Might get the XR, now but better to start small if money is a thing, like it is for me. I mean, this was a huge risk for me financially but it's paid off. I love it.
I’m 13 and I’m saving up for my first onewheel pint. I’ve been watching 10 onewheel videos a day and I’m really amped. I’m really surprised with your sub count. I thought you would have way more with the production level your putting out. Keep up the good work man. Keep putting out good stuff and I’ll keep coming back!
Thanks big time Mike! and good luck with saving for your pint! How close are you???
John D Dyer I have $110 and I’m hoping to do some yard work for some quick cash! Love your videos and I hope you have a good day! :)
same but only im 14
Adxdi good luck!
@@barackobama4790 thanks you too!
Great video! Definitely improves my confidence in buying this product
thanks!!
Thanks for the video! Only took me watching the video for 1:00 to decide Im buying the pint. Do alot of camping so offroad is the main goal but couldnt bring myself to spend the 2000!
yea I couldnt ever stomach the $2k either...but those XRs sure are nice, to me they should be much cheaper now since they are a couple years old...hopefully they will drop the prices soon if they come out with some new tech! (I have no idea if thats happening tho...)
Just bought mine. Haven’t tried it yet. This video pumped me up! Gettin a helmet for sure 😉
yea man safety first! You get the hang of it yet??
The car you using is so cool! You’re like uncle max from Ben 10 with your nephews.
Hahhaha you know it, thanks man!!
thanks John, you have showed me that no matter how much i would like one of theses they are too small.
Great helmet, big fan of the thousand products!
Great video.....Go Dawgs!
Hahaha thanks Will, War Damn Eagle!
Keep up the good video work.
Thanks Tyler!
Good Stuff. A fellow beginner tip...I have found that riding in "Elevated" mode whilst off-roading helps me tremendously with confidence and avoiding the ever dreaded nose dive. In elevated mode, as you probably already know, the board keeps the front pitched up slightly while riding. If you haven't already....give it a try next time. And I think its awesome that the great Jimmy Chang commented on your video! That dude has taught me so much about riding the OW!!
Thanks David! Yea I honestly always forget about elevated. I’ll have to try that next time!
And Jimmy is the best, I love watching his stuff it’s super informative! Hopefully I’ll get to meet him in person one day!
Dope. Never rode a OneWheel, but now I kind of want to try one now.
Thanks Michael, you should def try one out, I was scared to try one but once I did I loved it!
@@JohnDDyer No doubt bro. I'm looking into one now. Thanks.
Stuff like this is why I'd like to get a Onewheel in addition to my electric skateboard. The skateboard is a bit limited where it can go - it can go in hard grass but I'd never in a million years bring it offroad.
These Pints are so well made.
No doubt!
Great music. Great one wheel trail review.
Hey man! I have an XR and I live in Greenville SC. We’ll have to get a ride together soon! Test the range of the Pint VS the XR.
Saweeet! For sure man! I’m pretty sure ur XR would dominate my pint lol
Nice vid! I've got a question concerning the upcoming winter season. Can you ride the pint when the pavement is wet or will it slip out?
It’s on my list to try! I haven’t had an opportunity yet but I will let you know when I do( prolly make a vid 😃). I suspect it will but you need to be more careful than the XR with the smaller tire...
Totally awesome!! Thank you.
Thanks Nigel! My pleasure!!
Helmets are cool!!!
Niice and damn that looked like a big fall you you ok there man? Great video I still wanna buy one soon befor the winter comes or maybe on black Friday I'll buy one when it gets there :)
Honestly it wasn’t too bad. Soft ground thankfully lol
@@JohnDDyer well that's good! Your video are pretty amazing still keep it up:)
Oh man thanks big time! I really do have a lot of fun making them, plus they push me to do more!😃 thanks again for the feedback. I really appreciate it!
@@JohnDDyer anytime man!!!!:)
Road a loaner pint this week the off-road unless your on hard pack it is miserable. It's a three mph groan. It's much more functional on road and smooth pack dirt or tiny gravel. On the road it's a blast.
As a new rider over 40 w/a new Pint, should I go for the Carbonsmith bumper wheels, or is that a waste. They’re on sale right now. Maybe just grab a float plate?
Yup keeping your weight forward off road is a big no no. If you board tail dives a bit you can just ride it out mostly but the nose will dig in and dump you. Also using a responsive high power shaping profile like delerium on the XR (not sure the name on Pint) will help a lot
Thanks man, yea I totally forgot to goto elevated (no shaping on the pint) but I def should have had my weight further back, especially off-road up hill lol. I just go lazy 🙄
Great footage! What camera are you using, maybe a GoPro Max?
Thanks big time! For this vid it was the gopro hero 7, it was a huge improvement to me over the older cameras. Now I use the max tho.
Good review,my kid wants a onewheel,$3700 in Australia for the XR,think I'll get him the pint seeing as it's ok off road ,it's $2100 Australian
Yea they are pricy for sure... but they are super fun!
@@JohnDDyer I ended up getting him the XR , unfortunately he's already hurt his knee,he's just waiting until it's better before he gets back on
Great video! Do you get much exercise when riding it off-road and on-road? I'd imagine you do off-road as you have to move your bodyweight around a lot, but not so much on roads and pavements.
OneWheel of any model is a great leg work out on trails, and it's also a nice weight to use when you stop for a break and can use it to squat, curl, etc.
Yea my legs are dead after an off-road ride for sure. And it’s pretty good for core too!
Like I used to tell my kids; If you make it through a whole day without falling, you aren't trying hard enough! Nice video, float on!
hahah thanks Douglas, I couldnt agree more :) !!
I have a one wheel pint and XR and I ride them hard off-roading
The selfie stick, is it invisible? How does it remove itself
Cool video. Is your Plus much better at off-roading compared to the Pint? Or not much difference? Thanks
I would say that it is, the wider tire helps, with that being said the mini is still fun and does have a little more low end torque because of the smaller diameter tire.
Did she remove the plastic cover from the rail guards?
Hi John, I really enjoyed your video. I have a sand colored pint and I would like to switch the rail guard into a different color. How is your pint green and how can I get it?
so the green pints were a limited production in the first set that came out. I think you would have to pick one up used.
Not sure if I missed this detail but is this with the stock tire?
That terrain is so Alex city!
Heck yea man Gotta love lake Martin! Do you live in Alex city??
John D Dyer Family has place there! Been going forever!! Love it!
Awesome!! Yea I have family in auburn and have been going to lake Martin for years too!
What are you using to film. The selfie stick seems To disappear
Nice, what camera set up did you use for this video, gopro fusion or 360?
Most of it was gopro hero 7 on a selfie stick but the 360 shots were on a insta360 one x. I also used a wireless mic on the gopro. I put together the gear I use on my website too if you are interested vanboardbike.com/gear/
I thought you were using a drone in follow mode for some of the shots... nice video
How well does a Pint fit into a school backpack? I'm interested in getting one, as well as riding it to school... but does it full well in a "Trans Jansport" backpack???
its heavy....if you see my vid on flying with the pint you will see the bag I used to travel. they make some bags for the onewheel but they are price...
Skyline mode seems best when off roading as I feel it required less tilt. I'm new to this so definitely no expert just my opinion.
yea I always forget to change the modes....
Who is the music playing?
is it fun though?
Love the onewheel pint. It ships to asia. $950 + shipping fee $150 = $1,100 x P52 = P57,200. That's a lot of money. Hahahaa. It would have been good if I earn US dollars. Good video.
its a lot for sure, thats a big reason why i purchased my first board used because I was worried about spending that much, but its addicting and so much fun! Thanks for watching!
John D Dyer sure no problem. You're lucky you bought a used one. But it works perfectly.
This is why I'm buying an all terrain electric skateboard for $590. With or without shipping (checked different website) still came out to this price range.
Yep, just weight a little too far forward with those two bumps right in a row. Not a bad fall though, nice one!
Thanks man! Yea I got lucky it was pretty soft, gotta keep my weight down, I was getting tired, cocky and lazy lol
Nice!
thanks!
loike the misic choice :)
thanks!
Wonderful , nice ,
Pint walked off-road successfully,
And also about 3 miles and still battery life. , And the time its also good in 27 minutes spent 3 miles .
Nice tube ,
Thanks! Yea it was a fun ride! You thinking about gettin one??
@@JohnDDyer i already have xr , i have it before ( pint ) came .. but i still training it , 😌
hey I get it, I have hundreds of miles and im still just beginning lol
OK I listen to the song
War damn!
Yea baby war damn!
how do you keep the board in focus when recording w a selfy stick?
the GoPro does it all, super easy :)
Have seen no video of uphill riding. Would not think 2000 watt motor could provide any speed above a walk on 5 or 10 degree slopes.
Yea hills are tricky on any onewheel. U gotta go side to side and not too fast for sure
Do you know what your psi is? I’m trying to range what’s a good psi for mine
I know this is an old comment, but a good rule of thumb for tire psi on the Onewheel is 10% of your body weight. I weigh 205lbs, and I run my tire at 21psi.
there was a one wheel ad before the video
Oh yea? Maybe I got $.01 for it, thanks!😃😃 every little bit helps lol
I went off-roading and now my pressure plates sensors don’t work anymore if you know why can you please tell me
Not sure but try posting on the onewheel owners Facebook group. There are a bunch of guys way better at repairs than I am!
John D Dyer I’ll try that thanks for your help
The pint is meant for asphalt. XR for offroad
What PSI does it come as stock?
I hate to say it but I never checked....
I Survided
:)
Only about 5 miles off road for 180 lbs person? Have you tried roads and recorded how much longer you can ride it?
yea roads I get between 8-10 in my hilly SC area. (60-70F days) it will be less if colder.
how is the speed off road on trails for pint?
It’s not that fast for me* if there are hills but my skill level is pretty low lol
What do you use to lock it?
I just carry it in with me
WAREAGLE!
XR or pint ? good for a money?
I like the XR better but I would buy it used. To me they are too much at $1800... buuuut everyone loves them when they get one! I am personally holding out buying an XR for a bit hoping for a new design in a year or so. But I have the luxury of already having a few boards. If I didn’t have any I would buy either today and love it
how sis u get the camera opwn tho bahaz
360 camera on a selfie stick. its really cool but I dont look too cool when using it lol
On 3:56 at the video your hand is not there
yea the 360 camera software must have thought it wasnt needed :)
Pint is successful off-roading. 🍂➖⚫️➖🗻🌄
Yea buddy!
Getting ready to buy my pint in January, part of me wants to just get the xr but its so damn expensive! Makes me think what if gets broken or stolen, thats 1800 bucks gone. With the pint the risk isn't as high. Am I over thinking this? Someone help! Lol
That’s where I was... and then I got a second pint for my nephew to ride with me and still have spent the same amount as an XR... now I do want an XR maybe next year 🤣
I get just about 4 miles all off road 100 to 0
Yea I can see that. Crazy how much harder it works it right?!
I want to make a portable charger do you know what the 2-pin charging connector is called? or where to get just the connector?
Music sounds like a Skecher's commercial lol..
I don’t know that I have seen a sketchers commercial but that doesn’t sound good lol
@@JohnDDyer lol no, it's a great, upbeat vid. I'm just goofing around. 👌👍👍
Ok hahaha. I honestly struggle big time with music since you can’t usually use songs you know 🙄
@@JohnDDyer question, when your pint arrived, was it on the indicated shipping date?
$1000 for one wheel! I don't think so...
Try it. You'll change your mind. Look into Suprents.com for Onewheel rentals. They'll ship it to you anywhere in the lower 48.
Yea just try it. But I was in the same boat which is why I bought my first one used
Will you plz buy me a pint I am obsessed with the thing
If only youtube paid me more than $1 🤣 save up man. It’s worth it! Plus I purchased my first onewheel used on Facebook marketplace and saved a bunch of money!
