Onewheel Pint Wet Weather Review // Canada Bound

- I wanted to see how the Onewheel Pint would handle rain, wet weather, slick pavement, puddles and thick wet grass. We came to Canada to check out the Niagara Falls and a huge storm rolled through and soaked everything so when I had a few minutes to kill while my wife was taking a shower so I figured out I would take the pint out and see how it would do in these wet conditions.

Yeah...
I fell off, the pint went ass over tea kettle and into the river. I jumped after it, (over my head). Thank fuck the tire has so much air. It floats! Got it onto the embankment, turned it off, and crawled back up the cliffside. Phone, keys and sunnies still my pocket. Dried it out, no problems. Fml...

@@JohnDDyer I'm on the very temperate Vancouver Island West Coast. Just sprinkling out today and I was hesitant to ride without the fender that's still to come, and then I found this. I've seen some gnarly footage of these things getting wet, but the fact that Water Damage isn't on the warranty, in my eyes, begs for caution!
Yea man I totally hear ya. I have heard from a couple sources that the pint is much more water resistant that the XR or plus were, better gaskets etc. buuuut you still have the warranty issue. Hopefully one day these boards will be full on waterproof...

Really awesome video man! I also ride a plus and a pint. I've ridden over 1k on my plus and just got over 300 miles on the pint. I finally rode my pint in the light rain today. I also try and avoid large puddles as I did on my plus. It seems fine, I also dry it off completely and won't charge it again until tomorrow to ensure it's completely dry. Lately I've been riding my pint to the max and having some fun with the pushback. I definitely want to take my boards up to Niagara Falls, bad ass!

Don't get too wild with it. I remember finding a guy on reddit saying he rides his in the rain almost every day to work and that they're safe in the rain. A few weeks later he responded that all the circuits in his one wheel were fried and it would cost over $1000 USD to fix
I drove my pint x on the shoreline. I literally drive over some waves and hydroplaned which I had to bail out, not only that but it was moderately raining and I was going 16 mph until the battery was low. 500 miles and it still works perfectly fine. I also had the rubber butt plug thing on the charging hole the whole time so no issues with charging

i to got a pint recently. I died waiting. Then I came alive to ride it for 30 min before it died. Either my chargers broke (im getting a new one from FM) or the board. Praying its the charger. big sad.

Cool video! I think the new "fender delete" lends a lot to water resisting. The old generations are a computer that dumps water on itself. I never noticed their note on the charge port specifically. Good to keep in mind.
Yea it does seem to dump less water on itself lol. I also heard from a couple people that the gasket technique on the pint is also much better than the previous boards but I couldn’t get future motion to confirm it so I didn’t want to put it in the video.
I just got my pint last week and she will not be seeing any action out in rain. Thanks for your video

You are riding one of my favorite one wheel paved areas. I also Like to ride the Welland Canal which is about 15 kms east of where you were riding on the parkway. Welland canal is wider and goes approximately 40kms

Rode my pint x today in a drizzle yes the ground was wet but no puddles and the footpad went out on me
I drove mine in the shoreline beach in moderate rain until the battery was low. I went over some waves too and it works perfectly fine lol

Hey Brock honestly I don’t know, I believe they warranty up to 1200 miles but if you look at the leaderboard on the app the top 10 mileage boards have between 5000 and 12000 miles. I purchased my plus on Facebook marketplace with 1200miles on it and it was great. Facebook helps because you can see if they were active on any forums or posted about any issues.

I envy your ankle strength. I can’t ride my pint in the grass/gravel/rough, unflattened asphalt. It’s too wobbly for me
I’m there too and it’s an adjustment from longboarding. I try to put myself in relatively safe spots where I can just only do that to build muscle memory

Damn... Earl from the NYC group just bricked his XR in the recent rain. Likely killed the BMS. I'm hoping the Pint isn't as hit or miss with water "resistance" as the + generation was/is.
Damn that sucks... yea I have heard from a couple people that the pint has better gaskets and better waterproofing than the XR. I reached out to future motion about it but they didn’t confirm anything, just the standard water resistant talk
@@JohnDDyer Yeah... Which is annoying because that bit you cut in from the VoOW episode sounds like all you've got to do is not screw up the charge port. But that's evidently total bunk.
Well they do say that the boards are just water resistant. To me the biggest problem they have created was all the ads of riding the boards thru the surf.... hopefully they just keep improving 😃
Water resistant is not waterproof. You could get away with it, or you could have a brick in one ride. I suspect board shutoffs while riding might be due to water/damp air in the board

Considering there is less clearance between the wheel and the board on the pint, id be curious how necessary the fender actually is in wet conditions

I’ve ridden it light leaves but not covered yet. It just got below 90deg f for me last week lol.

How do you know your unit is not filled with water now? It will actually work with a little water in it but will malfunction but in weird ways. If your onewheel acts weird alot this is probably the issue.
Fact is, if you do not actually look in it after getting it really wet there could be a bit of water getting in there everytime you get it wet. Thats what happened to my XR. Im not a fan of the execution of the underside of the XR. Its not like the pint. It does look almost homemade under there and is not sufficient protection.
BTW, Every onewheeler has the legal right to open, clean, and dry out the insides of their onewheel REGARDLESS OF THOSE ILLEGAL “WARRANTY VOID” stickers!

Yeah man I just waterproofed the xr and pint for the wet season with the badgerwheel waterproofing kit and I agree with you. The sniffer tool clearly showed it was not very waterproof until I siliconed the crap out of everything. Warranty stickers are illegal? Really?
what if you take the wheel off and coat the whole thing in flexseal totally sealing it with the power and charge holes, then putting the wheel back on, you could probably take it under water then.
Badgerwheel sells a kit so you can waterproof it.

Yes I met someone in the park he had the model of the one wheel I can't remember the name. He ask me to try it and a wobbled around some time. It was instantly fun and is very different feeling comparing to EUC. I will definitely buy one but Imust wait because I bought a faster EUC last week gotway tesla and I have not endless money. Enjoy the time only very little people in the world drive such a thing. It's something really new like the first invention of the bicycle

Thanks Cesar! I have only taken the pint over the longer wide speed bumps not the short really sharp ones bu the longer ones are no problem at all. Small potholes are fine and it’s so maneuverable you just dodge the big one

Still works great. I haven’t used it a bunch since it’s been cold and gets dark early though. I was thinking about upgrading to an XR but they seem to expensive to me for what u get

I have had my one wheel pint since September I have never road it in the rain or wet conditions thought it would end up getting messed up had no idea it had water resistance

I have to ride it in rain that is pretty heavy at times. I keep the onewheel on a wooden platform next to a powerful box fan usually putting it on the side to drain any possible water inside from circuits.
My first XR died from water damage which is why i have issues with FM and those ILLEGAL “warranty void” stickers. They owe me.

The Canadian side of the falls is much more beautiful than the NY side. More of a European feel and clean.
Yea we really liked both sides for sure, each side had stuff we liked and didn’t like. I’m ready to go back, such a cool place!

Well I actually bought my plus used for $800 and this guy was a little less than $1000 ( the pint is much cheaper than the XR) and I actually did nose dive off-roading a couple weeks ago, still love it lol. Have you ever tried one???

I never tried one I admit....almost bought the PINT and even the XR brand new, only to cancel my order reading about everyone's falls and broken bone stories. Spending that kind of MONEY $$$$ for a little narrative called the AKA FLOAT LIFE.....LOL, doesnt really appeal to me.
I bought a stable Ecoreco L5 Plus electric scooter for $1,100.00 bucks then bought another stable (4 wheel) Wowgo KT electric skateboard for $380.00 bucks two for the price of nearly ONE WHEEL??.....LOL
Anyway i get the RELIGION of the XR everyone raves about, only FLOATING can be in the form of any Ridable, it's all in the mind of the beholder. I am actually looking at the Electric Unicycle at the moment, cheaper than the OW more stable NO OUT OF NOWHERE NOSE DIVES😋👍
Yea man to each his own for sure. I have a couple boosted boards and 2 onewheels now and they each have their areas where they accel and where they don’t. I have wanted to try a unicycle too, it’s on the list! I will say you should def try out the onewheel. It’s a really different fun experience 😉

I will reconsider the XR when I see features of the PINT on it, especially an accurate LED light bar battery indicator on top instead of on the side like the current XR. I dont use a cellphone since 2010 and I am not going back to it anytime soon. All my other equipment require NO CELLPHONE CONNECTION to obtain battery life and this suits me fine. Let's see what Future Motion comes out with their newest XR in 2020?
ya I totaly agree about the pint features in the XR as well, I have a plus and a pint and im waiting to upgrade my plus until the new XR comes out...hopefully soon :)
