  • In this video I take you through my process of rectifying the steering assist and traction control warning lights. This could be the cause of your issue.

    I hit a rough patch on the roadside and damaged the front left shock absorber and got the traction control and flat Tyre monitor steadily on for a day or two. Changed the shocks and rear stabilizers. Drove around for a while and the warning lights are now gone. Have not gone back to the mechanic to check if the steering angle sensor error is gone. It said steering angle sensor mechanical fault. Will check it again just to be sure. My car is a VW touran 1.4tsi (2009)

    Hey I'm glad I caught this video So I just did a MK6 steering wheel swap on my mk5 gti and used the original clockspring (same part# as mk6 CS) Put everything back together now I have codes for steering angle sensor and the steering angle sensor cannot be reached took it all apart put it back together again same errors g85 cannot be reached. Car drives perfect all buttons work on wheel I have power steering. Tried to do this procedure and it didn't work still do you know what could be the issue I'm pretty sure my rear hubs are good

      Can you view live data on your diagnostic tool. I'd start by seeing what the steering angle sensor is reading when the steering wheel is straight and the wheels are pointing dead ahead. I think you can view it through ABS as well as the steering assist module. Did you change the steering wheel with the road wheels facing forward. The clock spring didn't move at all during the change?

    • @dashing2293
      @dashing2293 Před 3 lety

      @@Papa77sGarage Yes the vcds cannot contact steering angle sensor at all. I did have wheels facing forward didn't move around the spring. I think I may have found my problem. I have a CD SWCM and need a CH due to the steering angle sensor being different than my original BG SWCM

      @@dashing2293 Did you get this issue sorted? I just swapped a 2010 Passat wheel (multi-function) to my 2007 Eos, along with a CH module, but can't clear those faults via calibration. Haven't tried this exact procedure in this video (but have tried turning to right/left full lock and center), but I'm unsure if the calibration requires a VCDS or not. I only have OBDEleven.

    • @dashing2293
      @dashing2293 Před rokem

      @jarilehtinen81 yes I got it fixed turned out to be the actual wheel speed sensor that was messed up. And for some reason that caused the steering light to stay on and not be calibrated

    Nice one, i have a 2017 Tiguan. These traction control lights flash up regularly. One of the faults my mate mentioned was a steering sensor fault.
    Maybe o should check the abs rings on the bearings? What do you think?

    • @Papa77sGarage
      @Papa77sGarage  Před 8 měsíci +1

      From my experience of newer VAG vehicles, wheel speed sensors are a common failure. They cause traction control light, TPMS light, ABS light and sometimes the steering assist light to come on.

    • @Papa77sGarage
      @Papa77sGarage  Před 3 lety +1

      There must be a reason. Have you checked the components I had issues with in this video? Rear wheel bearings with the main issue. What fault codes do you have. In theory you shouldn't need a diagnostic tool to carry out the procedure. I was using the snap on solus ultra and it wasn't the tool carrying out the basic settings. The tool was just walking me through the manual procedure.

    • @Papa77sGarage

      If the warning light is coming in then it should be logging a fault in the steering assist or ABS unit. First thing is to find out the cause of this fault. There is obviously another issue that's not allowing the basic settings procedure to be completed. What is the fault you are getting?
