    the normal methods of diagnosing and rectifying this issue didn't work, so lets have a look to see what can keep this light on!

    Thanks so much for this informative and professional video, original fault 2006 Golf 1.9tdi - Steering and traction control lights on, caused initially by low battery voltage, fault reading as steering angle sensor. Found a segment missing from the rear abs ring, after replacing with a new one the lights went out straight away. Initially spent a good while chasing my tail trying different steering angle sensors.
    Thanks again
    Will Brewin 🙏

    After a dead battery on my 2004 Audi A3 2.0 fsi my steering wheel light was constantly on and didn't go off after recalibration. Followed this video and found a rear right abs/wheel speed sensor faulty. Ordered a new speed sensor for around £12 so hopefully that is the gremlin. Epic video and straight to the point. Thank you.

      @@MazeedAkanni I tried to fit the new sensor myself but the Allen key bolt was rusted and rounded so I need to get the garage to do it. The wheel speed sensor is definitely faulty as the other 3 detect the correct speed when moving the wheels. The rear right was giving all sorts of readings from 5 to 70 mph. I'll keep you updated. 👍

    On my 2008 VW Rabbit, this light shows up every time I disconnect the battery and reconnect it. Fortunately, it goes away after I start to drive again. Another example German engineering gremlins in the electrical system. I have other issues as well, but the car performs fantastically as far as the mechanical parts are concerned. With over 162K miles on it, I can't complain. It's a keeper.

    What happens if you’re driving with a faulty sensor ?? Going to buy a car unsure if it’s the actual sensor or if it needs calibrating. Would it be safe to do a 3.5hour drive (200 miles) with that light on?

  • @djal3xus
    @djal3xus Před 10 měsíci

    Hey man. If the sensor is giving live data for the angle speed, does it mean it works or it might be faulty? I have passat b6 3c and it locked the ignitay key in. For those who don't know its a button key that is inserted in a hole of sorts. So the car doesn't want to release it and I found out that the calibration is gone. I get angle speed but not the angle in degrees (C). I'll try to recalibrate and check on the abs sensors.

    Could I get some quick internet advice on this issue? I have my NCT coming up today and I just got my passat back from service yesterday. I know NCT means nothing to most of u, but the car must pass it to be legally road worthy (car health check kind of thing).
    I had my engine thermostat changed, which required the mechanic to take a good chunk of the front of the car apart, including disconnecting the battery. Now my car is displaying the power steering icon on the dash and the steering feels strange - the car won't straighten up on its own; note, the power steering DOES work, it just doesn't work as smoothly as before.
    I don't think he damaged anything regarding the power steering, but I am also unable to get the light to go away or to get the steering to feel as it did before - I tried the calibration, nothing happened.
    I have 6 hours before the NCT test, so if I could find a solution in this time, I'd be very happy, otherwise its 55 euros thrown in the bin.
    Thank you!

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  Před rokem +1

      If the light is caused by the calibration being out, that may have been caused by the battery being disconnected.
      I would call your mechanic and mention this to them as they may be able to recalibrate via the method shown or via diagnostic.

    • @OriginalUnknown2
      @OriginalUnknown2 Před rokem

      @@MTMMotorServices took it back to the mechanic in the morning before going off for the test - he hooked on his multi thousand euro confuser, tried to clear the error 4 separate times with no luck - not surprising, considering there is a real issue to resolve first.
      He couldn't figure out what caused the problem, not on the spot anyway... car failed the test, but at least this dash light was the only reason it failed and it'll be a free visual inspection next time before I'm good to go.
      Just gotta figure out what the actual problem is now and get it fixed.
      I should have become a mechanic instead lol
