    Nice simple repair, and you are correct about not wrenching too hard on that bolt. I made sure to douche it good with pb blaster first, and used a 1/4in drive ratchet; now the sensor won't come out so I can clean the rust from knuckle before replacing the bearing. May just have to waste the sensor and get a new one. Ty.

    Thanks for posting . Now I know what's wrong with mine. I put new ABS sensor it fixed it for a few days and now the light is back on :) . I found a video where they sell a kit to replace the sensor , the bolts and the magnetic ring only, not the hole hub . Is it a good idea ?

    Great video! I’ve just fitted this myself. Is there anyway of clearing the ABS and traction control lights on the dash without plugging it into a computer? I guess I could pop to a local garage and ask if they can clear them, but some garages get funny and won’t take any liability and won’t help you..

    • @dunebasher1971
      @dunebasher1971 Před 8 měsíci +1

      They shouldn't need clearing with a scan too, they will go off by themselves when the system detects that the sensor is working correctly.

    I have a 2006 Jetta TDI Manual MK5 and I broke my ABS sensor off when replacing my wheel bearing. The hole that the sensor goes in is quite corroded and I can't get the remainder of the sensor out. Is there anyway to do it without removing the wheel bearing again? I have to borrow the triple square to remove it and I'm worried they'll strip (2 stripped during the removal of the old one and I ended up having to cut the old bearing off with a grinder.).

    • @davesterl
      @davesterl  Před 5 lety +1

      id say you would have to remove the bearing and punch the sensor out

    REALLY useful that dave, got a ABS/ESP light on my 2010 180000k skoda superb, changed the REAR sensor (old 1 had identical) groove in it as yours did, put new sensor in and fault is still on dash, suppose it`s got to be a wheel bearing next ??????

    I sent my mk5 GTI to get wheel bearing replaced and now my traction control and abs light is on is that something they could have damaged during the change?

    • @clintchrystie6727
      @clintchrystie6727 Před rokem

      The ring sensor fitted on the hub wasn't fitted so now your speed sensor cannot detect speed. That will actually cause your car to stall and cause a lot of faults.

    Hi,
    I'm getting error 01130 ABS operation Implausible signal.
    I clear the codes but as soon as I drive, the hand brake light flashes, the ABS light and Traction control light stays on.
    Any ideas?

    • @dunebasher1971
      @dunebasher1971 Před 8 měsíci

      That's either a faulty sensor or a faulty magnetic ring or both. Although 2 years on, I suspect you've long since dealt with the problem.

    it was more a bearing issue than a sensor issue?

    • @dunebasher1971
      @dunebasher1971 Před 8 měsíci

      The corrosion on the bearing damages the sensor. The two issues are intertwined.

    If the cars on a hoist, why not put it in drive for a brief moment so you don't have to spin the wheel by hand.
