  • Hi!
    In this video, I show you how easy it is to fit the ‪@dccconceptsyoutube6446‬ alpha mimic ground position signals!
    I must add - this is NOT a paid/sponsored video from DCC Concepts, just my genuine thoughts and experience, which I wanted to share with you all!

    GOOD LORD was my first response when I unfolded the manual and I’m already going down the easiest path lol. What fun great video

    Hi Eric, really nicely presented. It is a flaw not being able to get the plug down the GS hole, but if you have to extend then I t’s just part of the cut and lengthen process! Totally agree with what you have said, just bought new (now half price on offer - absolutely brilliant value for money now) and tested together with DCC concepts mimic LEDs. Mine will also be a mimic diagram for GS status display - effectively a shunting panel which will sit alongside my manual solenoid points control and mimic panel. I have a mixture of manual set (34 points/ crossovers) and DCC operated points on this particular section of layout. I will be using a combination of individual accessories numbers or routes (up to 8 items/ route) whichever is more efficient to set the GS to control a given movement. I do like the DCC Concepts mimic LEDs with the light ring effect and will use these for status indication of my DCC circuit breaker cards, on yet another control panel. The plug and play will make the wiring of that a breeze, just need to tidy away any excess cable to avoid shortening. Having a duplicate set of control cards for the GS mimic gives me the freedom to locate that away from the remote GS control cards - exploiting the advantage of dcc busses and reduced wiring! I have a 19’ width to cover cable runs soon add up! Best regards Stephen

    Hi Eric- I have proved that they are idiot proof as mine worked first time . Great service from DCC Concepts ( John was a great help)

      Great! Yeah deffinately, im suprised how easy it was. The instructions make it seem much more complicated than it actually is

    • @stephenkell7314
      @stephenkell7314 Před 3 lety

      Yes find that with most sets of instructions but the guys at dcc concepts are great never had any slow service in answering questions in the past

    Love the GPL’s. Yellow GPL signals are used for a train or engine to be able to pass it at danger ( 1yellow & 1white or 2 yellow) in order for it to proceed into a shunt neck or siding without requiring signal clearance.
    The signal itself only applies to the direction for which it can be cleared, I.e onto the main line, therefore clearance of the signal is only required for that movement.
    Just thought I’d shed some light for some people into why some ground position lights are red and some are yellow.

    Nice job of explaining how it works, I tried to change one address and they all changed. Now I know what happen. thanks. What program on your iPad are you using

      I was using the Z21 app mate

  • @davidwest3000
    @davidwest3000 Před 7 měsíci

    Hi Eric, When you added the signal addresses to the Z21 did you have to add 4 make them work. ie address 1 would be 5 on the Z21? I had issues when trying to make some signals work using Yamorc switches. I found by adding 4 to the address as mentioned in a CZcams video they worked. I have also had to do the same thing with the DCC Concepts ground signals. This is similar to adding 2 for the Colbalt motors which is mentioned on the DCC Concepts website. Anyway thank you for a super video.

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  Před 7 měsíci

      Im not sure if i have encountered that problem before!
      I know on cobalts there are a couple of addresses you cant set them to as they are for programming but the rest is news to me! 🙂

  • @chrisw6303
    @chrisw6303 Před 3 lety

    I wonder if you can have the same address number as my dcc concepts digital point motors, same address so lights change the same time as the point motor?

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  Před 3 lety

      Hi yes i cant see why not! Depends how you are operating it.
      If for example you use the Z21 app, you can assign multiple addresses to a function with timers so youll get the points change before the signal comes off for example.
      Your way would work for a basic way to do it though

    I may well be missing something here but, instead of removing the connectors etc, could you not make the hole slightly bigger?😁

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  Před 3 lety +1

      The hole would have to be a fair bit bigger to get them through, theyd then also be all wobbly! 😛

      @@UndergroundEric Once you get the plug through the hole, bung up the hole with plasticine/bluetack.😁
