    Hey Dr.Patel, I was wondering how much buccal fat pad does each person have on average? I got a size of a quarter taken out of each cheek but I still feel like there could have been more that was removed. I'd like for all of the fat pad to be removed 100% so I can achieve more of a hollow look. Thanks

    • @SPAFacialPlastics
      @SPAFacialPlastics  Před 4 lety +1

      Raymond Z you would need an MRI to see how much and where the fat is. I’ve taken out 1.5cc to 7cc of fat per side so each person varies. The amount usually can best be predicted by age, ethnicity, gender and exam. (Ie consult) hope that helps!

    • @SPAFacialPlastics
      @SPAFacialPlastics  Před 4 lety +1

      on the contrary. 25% of the patients for BFR are men! It will make it look more mature. The baby cheeks make you look "cute" whereas many men want to look "handsome" so they get the procedure.

      Could you please answer? I have same question. I always had chipmunk buccal fat even when skinny. Now as an older woman..still have it. My skin is young and firm for my age. Would I need an extra procedure if I got buccal fat removal? It's frustrating because this buccal fat minimizes the cheekbones I have.

  • @sarahkohen4130
    @sarahkohen4130 Před 4 lety

    Hey, I had a consult today with a surgeon and she said that buccal fat pad removal will not make you look gaunt in your face when you age. She said that had to do with your bone structure and only your cheekbone fat with lose volume when getting older. I believe she is very well trained, but you are also and you say the opposite so what could you maybe further explain it. Also my face is a more u vorm on one side Will buccal fat pad removal make this symmetrical. And when you smile will it make no difference at all. And in this consult was told to me that you could not remove a part of the buccal fat pad but that you had to remove it all

    • @SPAFacialPlastics
      @SPAFacialPlastics  Před 4 lety +1

      Sarah Kohen it doesn’t make everyone look gaunt. It will make your face look skinnier. If when you are old your face is very skinny it will make it look even skinnier. I agree with that surgeon that there is no issue there. You totally can do a partial removal. I rarely do that however.

    • @sarahkohen4130
      @sarahkohen4130 Před 4 lety

      @@SPAFacialPlastics thankyou very much ! One thing is it true that without that buccal fat your cheekbone fat will lower sooner because your buccal fat isn't there for support anymore.

    • @SPAFacialPlastics
      @SPAFacialPlastics  Před 4 lety +1

      Sarah Kohen I don’t think it provides much support. It has no connection to the skin. The skin is what needs support. The zygomaticocutaneous ligament is what provided the support and is recreated in a facelift. When we do facelifts we don’t add buccal fat...in fact many surgeons like myself remove it during a facelift

    Hello Dr. Patel, thanks for the informative video! I've a general question: if someone has big masseter muscle and not a sharp mandibular angle (so think of a face not chiseled, somewhat broad and not having a sharp jaw angle), will buccal fat removal help him aesthetically? I'm thinking of this procedure but I've masseter hypertrophy (for which I do botox) and my mandibular angle isn't prominent. Thanks in advance!

    • @SPAFacialPlastics
      @SPAFacialPlastics  Před 4 lety +2

      Susovan PAL this is where the is a lot of confusion about botox for the massager. It should soften the angle and make it narrower. It does not make it sharper. Buccal fat removal will barrow the area Infront of this which can narrow and define a face further.

    • @bumba8154
      @bumba8154 Před rokem +1

      Seems to be that your underlying issue is that your gonions are tilted inward and the position of your masseter muscles might be sitting on top of the gonions instead of having outward tilted gonions that would create a “pocket” so to speak which would allow the masseter muscles to sit lower, being positioned directly at the bottom of the gonions

Looking older than you age is fine too. Looking younger as always been a problem for me. 🤷 it depends if you prefer a mature look.
