this dude was still getting double digit goals a season at the age of 40, he really was THAT good, dude was saucing keepers like it was nothing. This guy was a nightmare because he could finish in front of the keeper, and take it round the keeper, so the keeper had to come out and try and rush him, knowing that he may get done dirty lool
He's definitely one of the top 5 strikers ever, probably even top 3

Romario is the only player I've seen that played against teams without goalies, I mean, for him the goalie was less than a cone to beat, it was too easy for him! He played only one year in Barcelona and when he arrived he said: "I will score 30 goals in the league", and he did! You are used to messi or ronaldo numbers but some of the best strikers in history made 23 or 25 goals in their best seasons, so it's an incredible number to achieve!

@@davidschmidt1793 Messi played a false 9 for Barca in the middle in some record setting years under Pep .. I know he played on the side of a front three before that and after she when Suarez was the middle man.
@@patinho5589 he did,in 2012. But it was just for a season. He obviously can play any attacking position and even play as a midfielder.
Respect for doing this guy, he gets forgotten because Ronaldo (R9) came straight after, but this guy was the best finisher I have ever seen, Ronaldo (Brazillian R9) was a better all round player and a more complete forward (probably the best Center Forward ever at his peak) but Romario really was special. Another great on this level that gets forgotten is Roberto Baggio. He was the best at taking the ball around a Keeper I have seen, he is somewhere between Messi and Romario in his style, you should check him out.

He had almost 1000 career goals, more than Messi and Ronaldo 🤯 he just doesn't get the respect he deserves, because he spent most of his career in a "weaker" league, but he's definitely one of the best strikers ever, most clinical finisher in history probably

In my opinion, Romario is probably top 5 greatest strikers ever! he get's forgotten i think because he left Europe too quickly and moved back to play in Brazil, (the league in Brazil does not get international coverage like Europe )unfortunately for him, Ronaldo R9's reign came just after his, and R9 gained much more fame as he played mostly in Europe! As you can see, he is a "Natural" striker and scores with unbelievable ease, he scores like "he didn't mean to"

he's the top striker of all time, noone has his goal per game numbers, noone is as cold in the box as him, like the video says, the most clinical striker ever

Keepers Running out. Every keeper is taught to narrow the angles. If you get close to the attacker he has smaller targets to hit, but yes it leaves you open to being dribbled or chipped, but not everyone can do that (I can though ;-) To stop this guy, you have to mark him out of the game and stop the passing lanes to him, but his movement was sick too so that was not easy lool, dude was a beast.
Too many different play styles and positions to have a top 10 really, I could do an all time 11 but others would be different due to formations, positions era etc
For some reason all Americans who are new to football ask me this, why the goalkeepers come out, somehow , basic geometry is so complicated for Americans lol
@@rabbitshady499 They also have no concept of how difficult effective chipping over the keeper is (especially if they time their angle narrowing rush out well)
The goalkeeper has to come out if it's 1 on 1, if they stay in the goal they give the striker too much time and space and it'll be a 99% goal. By running out they shorten the angle and put pressure on the striker by giving him less time to make a decision and execute the shot, it really fucks up some strikers mentally. But against composed worldclass strikers like Romario it's still a 90% goal of course. Still you'd rather run out to have a 10% chance of saving it than stay in the goal and have a 1% chance of saving it 🤷🏼♂️
