Thanks for your reply, I will say your fix was very good it takes some experience fabricating to do what you did, and made it work. I have decided to purchase the lift I will wait for the next sale before I buy. I am thinking to go ahead buying a Harbor Freight 20 or 12 Ton Air Hydraulic Bottle Jack they are unbelievably priced at under $100.00. I am thinking of taking the pump off that, and use it to convert the MC lift. I can always use the bottle jack manually for other uses around the garage. I am not sure exactly how I am going to do it, but it should be fun. Wish me luck have a great day, Bob.
Great Fix, Thanks for adding your video. I see it's on sale and am thinking of getting it. I'll want to modify it to an air jack in the near future. Haven't seen a video on that yet though so for now...
...on the Harbour Freight web site in the motorcycle pull down tab there are two (2) lift models shown, the difference are the jacks and ram length/lifting height...tap on user manual box at right and all the specs of the lift and cut away pump view are listed, there is a toll free tech number. The item numbered 68892 has pump and release controls at bottom of bottle rather than on the side shown on 69920 model. On my lift (68892) the release leaks do to misalignment of the connecting hardware... the manual gives clear diagram to aid repair.
I have the same Harbor Freight motorcycle lift, same issue with the hydraulic plunger leaking oil. I'm planning to modify the hydraulic jack part of the lift over to air hydraulic. I'm open for suggestions on which size air hydraulic jack to use. I'm going to use the Jet brand air hydraulic jack. A little better quality my opinion. Any suggestions on which size air hydraulic jack, 5 ton or 12 ton? Size wise it almost looks like the 12 ton might work. I know it's over kill but, just asking. Great video. Thank you.
quinnthompson I'm still awaiting the air/hydraulic jack that I ordered. sounds like they will ship the jack by October 18th. I will be fishing during that week and returning home on October 22nd. I'm hoping to have a successful design and working motorcycle lift by the end of October. I will keep you posted of my outcome. Thank you for the reply!
Just a few more finishing touches on my air/hydraulic conversion on this Harbor Freight motorcycle lift, I tried it for the first time today, it works quite well!
quinnthompson I just put my video up for the air/hydraulic bottle jack conversion, it should be up shortly. I will make another video with some close up shots to view the fabrication. I also made a platform to put on top of the lift to accommodate riding lawn mowers, ATV's and golf carts. I will do another video later on how I did that using a sheet of plywood and some 2 X 4's
I do not own a Harbor Freight motorcycle lift, but I am thing about purchasing one. I am just kind of curious if possible why didn't you invest in a air hydraulic pump at Harbor for few bucks more and did away with the old fashion manual pump overall? Bobby.
Good question. I bought this lift used from a guy on craigslist (at the time it was good deal). But your thinking is correct, an air hydraulic lift would be a better way to go.
why oh why the damn noise (music) hard to hear you with all that background noise. otherwise a good vid. I have just bought similar Machine Mart , looks like so presume bot come from China
Interesting. Couldn’t find a replacement option online. I suppose that’s the easiest fix, although unless they’ve improved the geometry it probably won’t be long before you have the same issue with the replacement.
Well done. Your kind of thinking makes America strong. Tim.
Thank you, that's quite the compliment!

Yeah that sounds like a good plan. Let me know how it goes, or better yet make a video, and show the world! :). Good luck!!!
Thank you!
