this movie is already 7 years old but the quality of its visual is still stunning even if compared to recent movies
And the Art style is amazing. Love how they blended sci-fi and fantasy together so seamlessly, just look at the costumes and technology
Personally the best Superman movie for me. They did an excellent job with the sound department as well
@@iiiEazyiii I agree and general zod is really underrated i wish i could see him again in other movies i hope flashpoint will bring him back though
Althaf Hussain definitely, his script was spot on. The raw emotion “ & now I have no people” man 👌

When Jor-El hits you with that 5 piece combo breaker damn
That was nice, but the camera angle for this fight was two frantic.
it was like when he beat up Commodus
I know Holy shit I wish I could like your comment twice it was so dope.
@William Kirshbom reminds me of another brilliant scientist that developed a way to increase his power with artificial moon light.
No one knows that Jor-El secretly trained in martial arts in Colosseum in Ancient Rome and boxing during Great Depression.
What? How you know?

You can see the sadness on Zod's face after he stabbed Jor-El.. This movie aged like fine wine.
Zod always said they never agreed on anything but they were powerfully connected in some way
Because they're friends before the conflict. General Zod and his most trusted friend, the foremost scientist Jor-El.
Its something most people overlook. Its alluded to many times that they were good friends beforehand. Examples:
"I will honour the man you once were, Zod" (he still respects and honours the person he used to know)
"Dont do this, El. The last thing I want is for us to be enemies" (he knows Jor El well and knows just how valuable he can be in saving Krypton)
"Not a day goes by when it doesnt haunt me" (he obviously misses him and still hates himself for it)
He also calls Lara by her first names, inferring that they are friends. The pain in his eyes after killing Jor El is obvious
I love the way zods upper lip quivers right before he says heresy, you can really feel that he’s shocked and almost offended by what he’s hearing. Shannon really brought his A game for this movie
A real shame that these studios just shovel mindless capeshit now, Shannon even said about his reprisal as Zod in The Flash that these movies are "basically the same as playing with action figures"
Jor-El had them hands
Indeed. I call it an ass-whooping, as Aquaman would say.
Yes and Zod was catching them all.
Ken B Hahahahahaha
zod was entirely unprepared for that shit lol
Well, it is Russell Crowe. I wonder if he’s still traveling around the world with Tugger, beating people up
“One man protecting his home is more powerful than ten armored soldiers.”
Really see that statement shine through here. Zod was a general who spent his life training for combat whilst Jor-El was just a scientist by comparison - yet the latter kicked the formers ass here. Because he was protecting his family.
Awesome scene accompanied by a fantastic Zimmer score.
Truly beautiful!
jor el had military training, they're both equally gifted fighters.
@@jasonpeng5798 not true, Zod was designed to be a soldier El was not..
@@stew347 Some people are more naturally gifted at things but others can match and exceed them with training
But he made the classic movie mistake. You should always finish the fight.
General Zod: I was bred to be a warrior, Kal. Trained my entire life to master my senses. Where did you train? On a farm?
Also General Zod: *Gets his ass handed to him by a scientist*
a military scientist!
Jor El is the Lex Luthor of Krypton, he designed almost the technological things there. His suit might be more powerful & equipped from what Zod is wearing. Hahaha come on. He could studied the fight patterns of the military martial arts then put that data in the suit.
Jor El was krypton's foremost scientist, Zod also said that.
His russel crow.
Zod could have killed Jor El easily but he DIDN'T WANT to. He wasn't accustomed to pulling his punches and that's why Jor El LOOKED LIKE he was winning.
Holy fuck. Imagine if Jor-El went to Earth. Dude would be unstoppable, even by Superman standards.
And a trained warrior of his way.
Nope, Kal-El has the codex in him, what that means is he has all the talents and knowledge of any and Kryptonians that are possible. He basically has all their best abilities. The ideal Kryptonian.
@Pack a Punch Zod was trained but he wasn't adapted to earth's atmosphere, it is shown in the movie that he struggles at first but due to him being genetically made to be a warrior he was quick to begin adapting to earth (shown in the final fight scene) and started using his powers which took superman years to do which shows how much superior zod is, if he stayed on earth for some more time superman wouldn't have been able to stop him.
I was just thinking that LMAO
@@vidzpk5144 then what did General Zurd have in him? And what did conel Feur have in her as well? Coz they both kicked Superman's ass.
I don't know why critics shit on this movie. I think it's the best Superman movie out there.
Most of the critics are probably fanboys of the overly cheesy Christopher Reeve era of Superman. They refuse to accept that as a stand-alone movie, this darker toned version of Superman is superior, so they shit on it in their reviews instead.
movie critics are idiots
Lol. Because the pacing is jarring and the plot is paper thin. Compared to the 1978 film it lacks the charm of Clark Kent. It’s a shame, though, because this film had some good motifs.
It wasn’t woke enough
Indeed they wanted the pretty vision of Superman where he wears his classical underwear on the outside, and refused to kill anyone. Could Superman stop zod without killing him??? A being with a near limitless constant source of energy and power? Fanboys are delusional if they think he didn’t have to kill in order to save Earth.
the armor worn by zod's soldier, the one in pursuit of kal el's fleeing craft, that design was awesome.
All the designs are awesome.Brilliant imaginative leap.
Further proof Zod was wrong: Jor-el, a man who was literally purpose born on krypton to be a scientist, beats the ever living shit out of the guy who was purpose born to lead its armies.
Further proof that generals don't fight the battles, soldiers do.
Zod was holding back tho.. he was even polite to his son when he met him for the first time. If zod really wanted kill jor he could’ve stabbed him with the knife
When Jor-El found out he could train to be swole and kick ass, he realized he could be more than just a scientist and more than what the genetically determined civilization has set him to be.
A scientist beat the hell out of a military leader.

Bring us the one who told him about it
he has to use slow mo because a superman fight on earth in real life is impossible to film. He fights a speeds faster than light.. Lol Same with wonder woman.. This scene was on Krypton so they didn't have yellow sun superpowers.. Very easily explained.. smh

“oH mY gOd, It’S rUsSeLl CrOwE!” OI! YOU WANNA FIGHT, MATE?!
He's channeling his skin head "Romper Stomper" days.
The soundtrack and the armor look is so badass. Best adaptation of superman
Zod kills Jor-El
Zod: Your son, Laura, where have you sent him?
Me: Yeah dude, you killed her husband, like she's gonna tell you now.
I wish the sequel will provide more of Jor-El, Kandor, Brainiac’s Invasion before Krypton’s destruction, and the society the Kryptonians are living.
Watch featurete also braniac has nothing to do with the destruction of krypton in man of steel
Imagine Jor-el fighting on Earth against the Krptonians and using those combo moves. Zod wouldn't even stand a chance
For those wondering why Jor el was able to over power Zod, I offer this idea: Conscription. Just like in South Korea, males on Krypton between 18-25 were to perform the civic duty as soliders in the national military. During his time in the military, Jor el would have also learned hand to hand combat as well as training with weaponry. After his service Jor el, would leave the military to pursue his true passion, sicence.
Duh these other folks are dense i mean how would he and zod have even become close lmmfaooo
This is sadly not true, each kryptonian from birth is given a role, that’s how the entire population is based on, Zod was coded to be a general, as joe-EL is coded to be a scientist. However due to Jor-EL being a scientist, he learned things out his area of expertise. This his how he is able to beat zod in hand to hand, because the soldiers of krypton will have been taught one style of fighting, however Jor-el would of learned this fighting style, learned another fighting style to counter it.
@@TheLimitedPixel Jor el is a man of science..I think you might be reaching in terms of expanding Jor el's interests beyond what a traditional scientist would have. Arming himself is the most I would expect. The hand to hand combat he displayed in besting not only soldiers but the general himself seemed a little far fetched for "scientist". Again this is all speculation. Still love the movie.
Pretty sure the show Krypton revealed that Zod and Jor-El are half-brothers. Which would explain why they were so close. Oh, god, I just realized with that realization of Zod and Jor-El being brothers, this film plays a lot like The Lion King or Hamlet.
The simple reason is because he slashed zods face and he aint done flinching. That fucking hurts
1:07-1:22 is such a brilliant sequence. That double punch combo at the start was so satisfying
A 7 year old movie has better CGI and action than WW84.
It interesting how Zod killed Jor-El with a spike on his arm and then Doomsday killed Clark the same way in BvS.
Damn that was a brilliant catch. Especially since "Doomsday" is actually Zod. He kills father and son the same way. That Snyder is a genius and so detailed.
@MR-FREEZE 98 WW84 was filmed in 2018. Production wrapped in December 2018. There were some reshoots in July 2019. Patty Jenkins said that the release delay due to COVID allowed them to work on the CGI and editing a lot more and really polish it up.
@@fartamplifer lmao even "polished" it's so awful and boring.
Tou fuking genius man.... Snyder is God level director 🔥🙏
#restorethesnyderverse
people hate on this movie for looking too dramatic, but the fight sequences, especially this one, have great sound design. you can FEEL the punches, and they sound satisfying. makes me feel like im playing smash bros or mortal kombat
Wish they kept Faora's hair the same throughout the film, but makes sense as to why.. as it was 33 years they encountered us and Kal-El.
Hrag Farra I hope she makes a return from the Phantom zone in a sequel. This time with long hair.
Kaiser Ritter Unfortunately I have a feeling that won't happen with her. I believe in this variant of the DC universe, you can't survive in the Phantom Zone, otherwise why would the Council need to freeze Zod and his soldiers in the first place.
wasn't there some plan that she and the other military guy were gonna be in a relationship when they escape it at some point
when parents decide they will sacrifice their lives for their children, they dont listen to anyone.
2:08 jor el pushed the trigger of his gun
credits roll
To anyone wondering how could Jor-El, a scientist, beat Zod, a general whose whole life had been about fighting and war, the answer is simple really.
One does not simply beat Russell Crowe.
2:25 isn't that the exact way he fell in Gladiator?
To the side with a lead in Gladiator
Here was fully backwards.
0:12 "I know you stole the codex"
"And i know YOU stole Batman's costume"
LMAO
I think this is a good example of a strong woman character that is strong like a woman is strong. She had a natural birth in secret, presumably without any of their technology, and was brave enough to send her son away despite the crippling effect to her own culture. She followed her husband’s lead yes, but I don’t think that makes her any less strong, because she could believe in Jor El’s dream.
Despite what PC culture might want to believe, following her husband's lead is exactly what makes a strong woman. There's two genders for a reason. If we were both good at all the same things there wouldn't be two would there? Can't stand those feminist types.
Honestly, Man of Steel is underrated and deserves more credit.
Sure Supes doesn't smile but everything else like Hans music does that for him.
Superman dont smile? He does plenty. Lol especially as Clark when hes with Martha in a few scenes. He smiles when the situation calls for it. Not like some marvel comedy.
@@coreymckee4844 True.
Zack Snyder should just direct all DCEU films. He knows what the people want.
Poor Zod.. He trained his whole life and still gets ass kicked by a scientist and a farmer :P
I don't care what anyone says, I said this before and I'll say it again.
Man of Steel (2013), in my eyes, is a masterpiece. But that's just my opinion.
"This a second chance for all of Krypton, not just the bloodlines you deem worthy," Proceeds to give the codex this his son.
best super hero film ever made - and the most underrated by a country mile.
It’s like the movie keeps getting more visually appealing and the story line deeper every time you watch it
For something so priceless, krypton really messed up when it decided to keep one copy
This movie deserved a real sequel.
You fucking right man! 😵🤜🏻🤛🏻
This scene alone shows that The House Of El’s bloodline is sum powerful stuff. I always love how casual sleek & clean.. Jor’El beat Zod.
What most fans don’t realize is Jor’El was more than just a scientist (at least in this version) he was also a fighter. Epic strory telling at it’s finest.
Foara is everything!!!! How is she that beautiful
For real
Her and Lara Supes mom.
Man of Steal was by far the Best of all the new stuff!!

P M - Steel, ffs
This exactly why I prefer DC. Because they actually make you think about how these heroes and villains have repercussions in the real world. The film was a complete package and an epic journey from start to finish. I love the graphic novels used, the properly executed punchlines, and the background of the characters introduced. This movie did a great job showing the sheer power and destructive capabilities of Kryptonians under a yellow sun. Bro I am insanely in love with this cinematography and combat sequence. Notice how Faora didn't bash Clark's masculinity or invoke any "girl power" nonsense? And still, she came off as a powerful female character in the movie. That's good writing by Goyer, the Nolan brothers, and Zack Snyder. Also brilliant acting by Crowe, Shanon, and Cavil.
it's sad to see wbd going bankrupt while the mcu keeps manufacturing these mass produced soulless projects that the masses mindlessly consume
I am a simple man.
I see Faora on thumbnail, i press like.
And Zod will never forget this day that he, mighty warrior as he considers himself to be, got his ass handed too him by a scientist.
“We’ve had a child Zod....A boy child”
I never noticed how wack that line is 😂
Anyone notice Lara's line "His name... is Kal... son of El", separated into three distinct parts, said with three distinct emotions - grief, realisation and peace.
Beautifully acted.

Honestly, I would have been fine with a prequel type of movie(s) of Jor-El and his journey in Krypton, as well as a teaser for the orignal Doomsday(not the incomplete version we saw in BvS) while at the same time have Man of Steel 2 BEFORE BvS. That way, we would grasp and appreciate Supes' charecter more, and his death would have made more of an impact in BvS.
