The black swordsman, Mar, is the character of a moderator from Hyun's dojo that got banned from the community in 2020. I don't have all the details but it was a pretty gut-wrenching story.
Mar coudn't suppress his dark side, let the monster inside him free and did terrible things, destroying everything he had built himself. Then his remorse and disgust at himself led him to realise he couldn't turn back, that no matter what he would do, people would still see the monster inside him and judge him for it.
So in the end he gave up, embraced the beast and got destroyed with it.
I like how he's portrayed here, because Mar ended up being almost a "self-insert" of his creator. Someone a bit cold but polite, ready to help people without asking anything in return... Which turned into a monster because of his own dark thoughts and greed, was banned from the community he had helped build and left the internet scene completely. He went as far as to remove every bit of content he had ever created, basically removing all traces of him from internet and the animator's community.
He helped a couple animators with their work after that, and everytime he never asked any compensation and even asked to not be mentioned in the credits, he's too ashamed of his actions to ever want to appear again.

@@ng343 It's impossible to tell everything that transpired in a single post answer, so I'll make it as short as I can:
Harassement of female members of the community, some of them being minors, using his position as a moderator.
He suffered from his loneliness in life and got so desperate to find someone his politeness and kindness got shoved away. He got bitter, drunk on his position in the community and in the end the situation escalated to the point of no-return. He was permanently banned from the dojo and vanished from the internet completely.

To answer why Mars went back, it's because he's been the dragon for so long. He has become the dragon, or at least that is how he sees himself.
He doesn't believe he deserves to be saved. He is like an animal that was raised in captivity and imprinted on people. He doesn't know how to free.
Self-loathing feeds on itself, growing stronger each second to the point of feeling crushed by it.

Greed destroys both dragon and mar. They dont like it but still continue. Mar cant live after what he done as a dragon so he chooses to stay. Even if he accepts gildedguy's help and live without dragon people will remember what he done and he cant make up for what dragon did. Also same happened to Mar's creator but instead of dragon there are his inner demons

My idea is that he didn’t want to be with the dragon but he thought that he already did all those things and didn’t even try to stop it so he thought everyone would see him as a monster and there was no point in changing since all that he did was unforgivable and that he saw the dragon as an extension of himself and his greed that he wants to hide from others, or something
Gildedguy had a dates with the gril has yellow eyes but in that video is the timeline after Gildedguy beat the dragon so you can say that is story 9
