    • @Bb-pw1zi
      @Bb-pw1zi Před 7 lety +4

      Jupiter111 Sure, I know his history and who am I to judge. BUT ....CART was never at all near the level of F1. Even Mansell in his 40's went straight into CART and blitzed them whereas Andretti came from winning the Cart championship and failed badly. He was very very good and maybe a Cart legend but certainly not a F1 legend imho

    • @Bb-pw1zi
      @Bb-pw1zi Před 7 lety +2

      Ralph won more at Williams than Montoya..6 to 4 (thanks wiki), but both were erratic. I remember Montoya doing a quick lap better. Ralph was also hindered by a bad back and vision problems but he was never in a league like his brother. MS is in a different league as he also raced in far from great cars. When Montoya went to Mclaren he also underachieved with 'only' 3 wins. Maybe his hot personality did not suit F1 and the politics too. MS said the only driver he feared was Hakkinen.

      Montoya never gave up and fought for position. He had guts and spirit. As such he's a legend.
      Montoya also had the skills and speed to put a Williams-BMW on pole 7 times in 2002 - which is as many poles as Schumacher in what many believe is the most dominant and best F1 Ferrari ever.

      I remember in 2004, when Ferrari won everything, and guys like u saying "that was F1, now it sucks". I remember, in 1988, when Honda won everything, and guys like u saying "that was F1, now it sucks". F1 is made of that. Sometimes, a team build a car which is better than others. And sometimes, some teams build ome equivalent cars, and there's pretty good fights.
      This is F1 history, no need of "F1 was better on the old days". The only thing we can regret are probably pit stops (for gaz), and DRS, which give the pilot behind a big advantage, and makes epic battles too short.

      You even don't know me, but saying "like you would say"......I write about other things than you.......I mean the technically aspect. When a engine, and all other parts are made at the Limit of their Materials they are made of, now THAT'S Racing! And not driving like a PC, without Brain (other people think for you) and full of Electronics and Buttons. Generation Playstation is what I am angry about. PC's, phones, tablets, and so on. That's peoples "Talent" nowdays. Sad....

      @sillver0100 Před 9 lety +7

      GhostriderPL23 You are a fool if you think the cars from 2014 onward are easy to drive. They have no TC, no LC, lots of instant torque from the turbo and ERS and the downforce is significantly reduced. There is a lot of technology, yes, but it's one of the most difficult eras to drive in F1 history. You estimate talent from the sound of the engines. It's pretty much obvious.

    • @Exevium
      @Exevium Před 9 lety +2

      sillver0100 To be fair (or to be the devils advocate), cars from 2014 onward are still much easier to drive than the monsters from the V10 era. That's why drivers who pay to get a seat are still able to get it round a track. I'm not against this era (I think it's kinda cool), but when you see the Mercs driving on rails, there's not a lot of excitement going on. Even when Schumi was dominating race after race, there would be a chance of him making a mistake or the car blowing up. These are things that seem highly unlikely these days (that is, when you don't have a Renault engine).
      I can't wait for the 2017 season. It's rumored that the cars will have over 1000bhp once again.

    At 1:10 you can see how on the limit Schumacher is on the front and the rear at the same time, and he still gets it rotated and gets on the power early without pushing it that tiny fraction too far (as Montoya did behind him). It's really jumping out at me here because i race Monza in sims all the time and if I went through the corner with that much rotation I'd definitely get all squirrely or just spin. It looks so fucking fast

Schumi was somethjng else.... it was stunning to see him with a V8 benetton ford manual to chase the glorius Senna with maclaren v12 semi auto gearbox!! Schumi is a STAR ... Gid bless you

    Vettel take note - this is how a real Ferrari driver defends against an overtake around the outside of turns 4 and 5 (without spinning yourself off like an amateur).
    Schumacher won 5 titles in the red car, Vettel will win none! As long as Hamilton is still in the sport, he'll never win another title. The next few years will see Lewis winning many more titles, mark my words!

    This is what true racing is all about. Although it has to be say that this is a rare scene of clean racing from MS, racing clean a real racer like JPM, a relentless racing driver who relished every opportunity to race MS for his money. Also, during the race the servile of Frenzent will play his part as an obstacle for Montoya's progress-who was caching up MS and which obvious obstruction when on for several laps. What IF that never occurred?. We will never know.

      TOXICTRACE I think the holdup was for at most two sectors. It cost Montoya about a second. 1.1 to be precise. Look here at lap 40 with the Frentzen incident, head to head @ en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?page=chart&gp=31&graf=3&dr1=3&dr2=1 . Lap 44 also meant a +2.2 second loss to Schumacher. Montoya wouldn't have made it, even without Frentzen getting in the way a bit.

      Clean racing?....you just cannot take the FACT that MSC is and was the greatest F1 driver in history, MSC just happend to be in Ferrari at the right time in their history when Ferrari built the greatest set of cars in F1 history. When the greatest driver was mated with the greatest cars ever, we all saw the run of titles MSC won and the number of win and holds almost every record in F1 along with most lap records at most of the tracks that will stand forever because the cars of today are unable to even come close to lap times of the early 2000 era cars...anyone who doesn't like MSC cries like you do....you could say the same about ANY driver at one time or another. MSC was aggressive and could handle this era of car BETTER than all others. Now F1 is a fucking joke with the gutless cars they drive now...I stopped watching F1 after the 2008 season.....F1 is dead...gone forever...

    • @toxictrace6775
      @toxictrace6775 Před 9 lety +1

      Your FACTS writing in capital letters?! desperately calling the attention eh. Oh well funny enough if we considered to what you wrote and compare to what JPM did, racing in a 2nd, 3rd car of the field, living records like for ej fastest average lap speed in F1 Monza and other records which still stand today and possibly forever over a short period in F1, If we compared someone like JPM who was no treated with privileges, with someone like your beloved idol who never have a proper team mate to let him run for his money just like in Austria 02, Just one little" fact of many right there. So, it would be fair to say that your comment enhance the fact that what JPM did during FIDDLE-rrari domination was simply extraordinary. Last but not least I agree with you about what F1 has become this days.

    • @derisme1987
      @derisme1987 Před 10 lety +12

      wrong, the Ferrari was 2kph faster on the straights, the Williams had more stability under braking due to its larger rear wing

    • @AnarchistMetalhead
      @AnarchistMetalhead Před 10 lety +2

      Matt Royer while the williams had lots of downforce at the back, it didn"t as much at the front, so it understeered
      that design gives an advantage for acceleration at the beginning of the straight and for braking (regularly smoking front tyres though) at the expense of peak top speed and cornering speed

    • @foxtrotalphaone
      @foxtrotalphaone Před 10 lety +6

      AnarchistMetalhead What made the Williams fast was that it was specially fitted with a JPM. Unfortunately only one Williams car could be fitted with this unit at any given time since a JPM cannot be replicated.
      Obviously the car you saw almost pass the Ferrari around the outside had this special component or such a maneuver would not have been possible. Unfortunately for Williams, that particular Ferrari was specially fitted with an MSC.
