How Schumacher avoided loosing the position in that second chicane is beyond me. Montoya basically had already won but his opponent managed to get back at him using every bit of road available.
If you look at Montoya's car, his car snapped a bit on exit. That made him lose traction and therefore acceleration. Otherwise, he would have had a drag race until the first lesmo with his car on the inside line.

Your FACTS writing in capital letters?! desperately calling the attention eh. Oh well funny enough if we considered to what you wrote and compare to what JPM did, racing in a 2nd, 3rd car of the field, living records like for ej fastest average lap speed in F1 Monza and other records which still stand today and possibly forever over a short period in F1, If we compared someone like JPM who was no treated with privileges, with someone like your beloved idol who never have a proper team mate to let him run for his money just like in Austria 02, Just one little" fact of many right there. So, it would be fair to say that your comment enhance the fact that what JPM did during FIDDLE-rrari domination was simply extraordinary. Last but not least I agree with you about what F1 has become this days.
Matt Royer while the williams had lots of downforce at the back, it didn"t as much at the front, so it understeered that design gives an advantage for acceleration at the beginning of the straight and for braking (regularly smoking front tyres though) at the expense of peak top speed and cornering speed
AnarchistMetalhead What made the Williams fast was that it was specially fitted with a JPM. Unfortunately only one Williams car could be fitted with this unit at any given time since a JPM cannot be replicated. Obviously the car you saw almost pass the Ferrari around the outside had this special component or such a maneuver would not have been possible. Unfortunately for Williams, that particular Ferrari was specially fitted with an MSC.

MSC was aggressive and could handle this era of car BETTER than all others. Now F1 is a fucking joke with the gutless cars they drive now...I stopped watching F1 after the 2008 season.....F1 is dead...gone forever...
Great racing from Montoya as you can see he was going gang busters at the start but his Williams just didn't have enough for Shumi's Ferrari.
Shumi seni özlüyoruz.
you can cleary see: The Ferrari is faster in the corners whereas the Williams is faster on the straights. :)
wrong, the Ferrari was 2kph faster on the straights, the Williams had more stability under braking due to its larger rear wing
Matt Royer while the williams had lots of downforce at the back, it didn"t as much at the front, so it understeered
that design gives an advantage for acceleration at the beginning of the straight and for braking (regularly smoking front tyres though) at the expense of peak top speed and cornering speed
Mercy pour lá cours vídeo do Brasil 😎🇧🇷👏
This is the type of shit I want to see in F1.
Colombian power! who in 2019m
