We totally should have included Sofia Coppola and Damon Wayans Jr.! There are obviously lots of other families and people we could have included but those two definitely should have been in this video.
Harry potter or elder Scrolls
There a error I found in this chart
Gladys Rankin and her father Mckee Rankin
Have born in the same year
Edit:Gladys Rankin was borned in 1870
2nd edit:Gladys younger sister was born in 1874 and died at 1934
@@o-o2399 Harry Potter tree is in the 500k special (1 hour video)
Hmmm...the Redgraves, perhaps?
The house of Iturbide would be interesting to watch
Sofia Coppola definitely deserves to be on here! She won an academy award and is one of only five women every to be nominated for best director.
These are talking about whole families. Are multiple people in her family factors/in the movie industry?
Agree, these days I would say she is just as famous as Talia or Nicholas Cage ...
@@asyasmith7370 Her dad is Francis Ford Coppola, who is smack dab in the middle of the Coppola family.
Roman Coppola as well.
Yup. Totally forgot to add her. She should have been there!
The Barrymore family lore sounds like it would be an entertaining TV series.
every season could be a new generation
pitch it to Drew @ Flower Productions
It'll come, I bet.
Imagine Drew Barrymore starring in it
@@vampiregamingyt8754 She could play Ethel
Missing:
- Damon Wayans, Jr.
- Catherine Zeta-Jones (wife of Michael Douglas; award-winning actress)
- Sofia Coppola
- Vincent Minnelli (father of Liza; film and theater director)
- The Bridges Family
- The Warner Brothers
- The Marx Brothers
- The Huston Family
- Eddie Fisher (famous singer; ex-husband of Debbie Reynolds; remarried Elizabeth Taylor)
- The Redgrave Family
- Warren Beatty & Shirley MacLaine
I was kind of shocked at the lack of research put into these family trees. This channel is normally incredibly thorough. The big story when Godfather 3 came out was it had Sofia Coppola in it. Sofia was panned terribly by critics some blaming her as the reason GF3 wasn't nearly as good as part 1 and 2. Sofia later of course redeemed her career as a Director in Lost in Translation. This was off the top of my head how could the video miss this?
If I had to guess the only real research went into the Barrymore family tree which would be fine but they should have cut all other tree's not researched.
The video could indeed be an hour or three long
@@user-ge8yn4ql4i This channel dropped the ball on this video. It's a great channel but no excuses for this one. They honestly should just delete the video.
Bing and his granddaughter? Denise Crosby
I think the video was just intended to focus on the Barrymores, with the rest just kinda being bonuses, so they just kept it simple for the rest of the trees and only included the biggest names. That said the absence of Wayans Jr and Sofia Coppola is kinda strange.
Matt, you forgot to include the large ARQUETTE family on your list. In addition, there is also a second generation of performers in the Wayans family as well. Additionally, there is John Voit and his daughter Angelina Jolie.
@Jason Bailey and their kids have been in movies too
I would like to point out that Matt was the person who made the family trees, but Jack Rackam is the narrator for those who do not know
That was one of my first thoughts as well.....
You forgot the 3-generation Oscar winners, the Hustons. Walter, John, Angelica and also Danny.
Yep, best family!
Also Jack! Who played the fabulous Richard Harrow on Boardwalk Empire. One of my favorites!
Technically aren't the Wayans two generations? Damon Wayans Jr. has a pretty full IMBD.
Yeah, they are.
I was going to say this same thing
Yep his cousins also work in the industry they are all known as second generation waynes
Nick Cage and Jason Schwartzmann being cousins is the real takeaway from this video.
I know right lol I knew that Nick Cage was F.F. Coppola's nephew but I had no idea that he ( Nick Schwartzmann ) was "Adrians" ( Talia "Coppola" Shire ) son....
Also Robert Schwartzmann, lead singer of Rooney and Michael Moscovitz in “The Princess Diaries”
Sofia Coppola is missing in the Coppola family tree
Its incredible Drew’s Barrymore resemblance to her aunt diana Barrymore
The Huston family has at least four generations of actors, and most of them are acclaimed actors/directors/writers.
Yes! Clicked on this video hoping to see them.
Can you do the Spencer-Churchill family tree? You know, the British aristocratic one that gave us Sir Winston Churchill and Lady Di
It's coming soon.
I think that the connection between Lady Diana's family, surnamed Spencer, and Winston's relatives who were surnamed Spencer-Churchill or just Churchill, was quite a long way back? I've seen quite a few public member trees on ancestry that erroneously have the late Princess of Wales as a Spencer-Churchill rather than a Spencer, so it would be nice for there to be a video which sets that particular record straight and explains the connection between the Earls Spencer, Dukes of Marlborough and so on. I guess with both Winston and Diana in the (very) extended family it arguably makes them the most important aristocratic family in Britain in the 20th century.
I think they descend from king Charles ii, along with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
Winston Churchill is my 4th cousin 4 times removed through his mother’s side, so I will be very interested to see this (even if it doesn’t include my very un-noteworthy line of the family 😄).
@@re_patel tell camilla she decend from another king Charles lol
The Gumm family owned the theatre in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
The Grand Rapids in MN hosts an annual Wizard of Oz celebration in honor of hometown girl Frances Gumm, a.k.a Judy Garland.
Her sisters were also performers
Yeah! When they said “Grand Rapids Michigan” I was like ummm
I knew it wasn't Michigan. I thought it was Iowa. I think it was Minnesota.
@@TheTruthGirl8 Same. I'm from Grand Rapids, Michigan and I know a lot about all the famous people born there. I was like, this doesn't sound right. :)
Yeah, having lived in both Michigan and Minnesota, I was all, "Nope."
Oscar winner Jose Ferrer, married to actress/singer Rosemary Clooney, father of actors Miguel, Monsita and Rafael, and Gabriel, who married singer/actress Debbie Boone, who is the daughter of singer/actor Pat Boone, who was the son-in-law of country hall of fame Red Foley. Jose is also the brother-in-law of actor Nick Clooney, the father of George Clooney.
Don't forget about Rosemary Clooney.
Damn, I thought the Redgraves had a deep acting history but the Barrymore/Drew family really IS a dynasty...
You could do a video on name-brand families, such as families of famous products or companies, such as Getty, Waltons, DuPonts, Hammer, Kelloggs, Heinz, Carnegie, Rockerfeller, car companies, etc.
Family trees on the Rockefellers, the Carnegies, and the JP Morgan families would be fascinating. A lot of those turn of the century industrialist dynasties have interesting family trees.
I found an 1848 almanac Hunt family. They do everything by numbers
Whoa, the Car Companies family? I have never heard of them!
@@kathleenmary1814 I love how innocuous your delivery was.
If one doesn't think Drew Barrymore is as great and actress as her grandfather was as an actor, watch grey gardens. Of everything Drew is done this is where she absolutely shines it is when I realized how insanely talented Drew was. In a weird way it's her best work since ET
She has potentials, it's just that she rarely stars of features in movies that are well-written.
What about Sofia Coppola!? Daughter of Francis Ford Coppola. A great filmmaker in her own right. She's a Oscar winning screenwriter.
You feature her cousins over her.
I agree with the criticism that Sofia should be added since she acted in a lot of films, however the director and writer qualifications don't contribute to an "acting" dynasty list.
@@lordbane21 right, if this was only actors in that dynasty then why include Francis Ford Coppola? Read the title of the video.
@@gearoidpRead my comment again.
@@lordbane21 your point is that she shouldn't be included in an acting list because she wasn't as good an actor as she is a filmmaker.
-My point is these are not just acting dynastic members in these trees.
It's been admitted to be a mistake by the pinned comment.
Edit: spelling of 'your'😂
Joe Estevez, Martin Sheen's brother, should have been included. He has 300 credits on IMDb.
And his daughter, Renee. She had a recurring role on The West Wing and she isn't any less "known" than some of these other people mentioned, even in their own times.
Scarlet Estévez, Trixie on Lucifer
Surprised no one has mentioned the Skarsgard family, love them.
Charlemange isn’t on this tree!
He would be if you went back further
LOL
Was Charlemagne an actor? 😉
Yes he was I saw him in Emperors of the world he was responable for why the Asians have small dongs
Tom Green makes the chart, but Sophia Coppola and Catherine Zeta-Jones do not? Boo!
Exactly 😂
You also have Goldie Hawn and her two children Oliver and Kate with her ex-husband actor Bill Hudson and also her son Wyatt Russell with husband Kurt Russell.
Danner & Paltrow? Mansfield & Hargitay? You seemed to leave out a lot of mother/daughter dynasties
Dynasty more than two generations
@@gorgeous6737 then you have Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson. Those are 3 gen.
If John Drew Barrymore was alive today, he would be 90. He would also be able to say that his father was born in 1882. That’s a long time between 1882 and 2022.
Also, imagine your grandfather being born in 1849
My grandmother was born in Manchester England in 1892.
His older sister is still alive btw. Yes it's kinda exciting to hear it. John Barrymore had children with Dolores Costello when he was around 50 year old
This is rather painfully incomplete ... You should consider updating it and possibly reposting.
True
Quick Note: John Drew Barrymore wasn't in Star Trek. He was originally cast as Lazarus in the TOS episode "The Alternative Factor" and never showed up for filming.
You should do the Chaplin family, theyre quite big too
omg yes!
To add to the Barrymore sprawl: Phyllis Rankin's son Arthur was also a film actor. His son Arthur Rankin jr was a writer/director/producer who founded Rankin/Bass Productions, the 1960s-80s animation production company.
No mention of Sofia Coppola?
Oh. You're right! And there was room for her below her father and everything.
I was looking for this comment!
Oscar winner, how could you forget her?!
Also, Talia's son Jason could have gotten more of a mention, though he's on there.
Very sexist...
@@CallieMasters5000 Right? He got no mention
Chaplin family tree. That would be a good addition to this. Charles Spencer Chaplin. The World's most famous actor.... came from a mother who was a vaudeville performer.... went on to have several children in the biz as well as a granddaughter who appeared briefly in the HBO series Game of Thrones. I believe his brother, Syd, was also an actor but I'm not 100% certain as i type this.
and a daughter/granddaughter of charlie was/an actress too
@@miriamhappe1066 Geraldine Chaplin.... his daughter.... one of my absolute favorite actresses. Several of his children were in acting for various periods of time. A couple even appeared with Charlie. The Chaplin Dynasty is really king.
He married several actresses but his last wife was the daughter of American playwright Eugene O'Neill and English-born writer Agnes Boulton. So this Dynasty is far-reaching
Yes, Sydney Chaplin was his much younger brother who was on Broadway quite often.
@@TheKelJacob syd was his older brother. He named a son after him that died quite young. That probably causes confusion. It does for me lol
It would have been interesting to include the following families:
1- Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith (Don Johnson; Antonio Banderas), Dakota Johnson
2- Redgrave/Richardson/Nero/ Neeson
Missing:
angus Sutherland
Sofia Coppola
Eddie fisher
Joley fisher
Trey Smith
Troy garity
Vicente Minnelli
Fairbanks/pickfords
The Houstons
The red graves/
Next generation wayans’
Hope you build on this
Also Sydney , Joey and Lorna Luft Judy Garland's ex husband and two youngest children....
Definitely need a redo, as so much was left out on all of the trees.
I am from the Drew family, this was QUITE the shock to see my own ancestors on my favorite CZcams channel
Really? That is so 😎🆒
How are you related
Roman and Sofia Coppola, Vincent Minnelli, Eddie Fisher, c'mon
Very nice. However, the Carradines?
Good choice.
wayans is 2 generations, martin sheen has at least two other actor brothers, not to mention sofia coppola being absent while someone called cameron douglas got a spot? lol
Martin Sheen also has an actress daughter, I forgot her name, she was never famous, but she should have been included.
You seem to have dismissed Henry Fonda has being just a western war movie actor.
Exactly. I felt the same way about Donald Sutherland, who was labeled as some obscure actor who "was in MASH". Actually, this is an interesting video that could do with a whole bunch more research and re-posting
Rossif Sutherland is also an actor. He was Nostradamus on the Reign TV series.
There are two more families I would like to recommend.
The DeLouise family and the Cusack family.
Piven?
I vaguely remember suggesting this once. Glad it's a topic now!
you forgot the Arquette's.
I hope you guys do another one of these videos, they're really fascinating! It'd be interesting to hear about the Bonham Carter family, the Samoan wrestling dynasty and any other acting dynasty's
Sorry, you're mistaken about John Drew Barrymore appearing on Star Trek. He was cast as Lazarus in the 27th episode of the 1st season, "The Alternative Factor," but was axed and Robert Brown played the role instead.
From the page titled "Performers considered for TOS roles" on Memory Alpha, "John Drew Barrymore was originally contracted to play Lazarus (and anti-Lazarus) in 'The Alternative Factor', but didn't show up to work when filming began on November 16, 1966. Robert Brown was cast as a last-minute replacement."
@@benjiskyler7836 ....right, he was cast as Lazarus, but was axed and Robert Brown played the role instead. John Drew Barrymore never appeared on Star Trek.
Glad you stated this -- I'm enough of a nerd to know cold that JDB was never on Star Trek but not quite enough of a nerd to remember what the reason for that was. :-)
Donald Sutherland also has another acting son Rossif Sutherland.
The Coppola family has much more famous members.
You could do the Porsche/Piëch-Dynasty, the family which owns both Porsche and Volkswagen
Can you do Bollywood family.
The nepotism should make for a long generational chart
Who is your favorite Barrymore? Also, what is your favorite Hollywood dynasty? Are any of you related to the people in the charts? Finally, how do they all relate to Kevin Bacon? (Someone had to ask that last one, right?)
If you told me, even a month ago, that Tom Green would be on this channel there is no way I’d believe you.
No love for the Hustons?
“That hair style is enough to tell you what she known for” blind people who don’t know who Carrie Fisher is
He did mention that Carrie was in Star Wars when talking about her daughter
Doubt blind people care much about films and actors in the first place.
I know Donald Sutherland from the Hunger Games
Same 😂
he was in The Buffy movie 😆.
He was Mr Bennet in 2005 Pride and Prejudice and was in Kelly’s Heroes. Much more famous than his son.
And I knew him from A Time to Kill and Citizen X.
🙂
italian job
What about the Bridges - Lloyd, Beau and Jeff? And the Redgraves, which is a long and deep dynasty as well.
You described Henry Fonda as a somewhat obscure actor? He's one of the most famous actors in hollywood history and considerably more prolific than his daughter
No, they called him a "... still, big shot actor..." They missed the point, he was one of the greats in the golden age of Hollywood.
Interesting that you included Willow Smith who barely has an acting career but you missed Damon Wayans Jr. who was a main actor on a very popular tv series (New Girl or Happy Endings).
Yes, Will recently made up for his self aware lack of any meaningful acting history in 2022.
#👨🏿💼💥👋🏿
totally Damion Wayans Jr. Chaunte Wayans, Damien Dante Wayans
great work matt & jack... this hollywood dynasty is something else!
With a Canadian entry, would have been great to include another multi-generational acting family, the Redgraves.
If you are going to mention the Redgrave Family, Michael Redgrave on down, they were all born in England (Vanessa & Lynn his daughters). However, Natasha Richardson did get killed skiing in Canada?
The Wayans family are also a 2 generation family
nothing about the Howards? Ron's family?
I’d love to see that!
John Drew Barrymore actually dropped out of his Star Trek guest appearance at the last minute - one of the features of the troubled production of the Original Series' most incomprehensible episode, "The Alternative Factor".
I always thought that Sheen Estevez from Jimmy Neutron is named after Martin Sheen whose real name is Martin Estevez
He's actually Ramon Estevez. Charlie Sheen was born Carlos Estevez. But this also left out Charlie and Emilio's sister. Renee Estevez. She's not as famous, sure, but she had a recurring role on The West Wing.
Thank you UsefulCharts channel… super hooked and very interesting! I ❤️ your channel!
I know Donald Southerland from Hunger Games, Alec Baldwin from Beetlejuice, Marlon and Shawn Wayans from White Chicks, and Drew Barrymore from ET and 50 First Dates.
How could you have missed Donald's earlier movies? 😄 You should have known him from A Time to Kill at least.👍🏻
@@farhanmizra I’m sure I’ve seen him in some older movies, but it might be because I watched them with my mom. Could be that the genre that he played in wasn’t typically a genre I watch.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Sofia Coppola in the Coppola tree!
That's not Daniel Baldwin. You've used Billy Baldwin's picture twice.
Totally possible. They all look so much alike!
@@UsefulCharts - Not possible. Fact. Daniel was a cast member of Homicide: Life on the Streets back in the 90s. He looks like a heavier Alec. Billy is the thin, gawky Alec. And Stephen is the blond Alec. That's how you keep them straight. :-)
Oh that was fascinating. I only know Drew Barrymore. Had no idea about her family history in the film/theater industry.
It even goes back to 1700s but Drew is probably the last to stay in business, unless her children wanna be actors in the future
I wonder if the Skarsgårds will be the subject of a similar video in a few years or decades. They already could've made the cut as a two-generation tree.
They should’ve been in this video too: Stellan (the dad) and then Alexander and Bill.
So need a second part for the Westmore family, the make-up artist dynasty of Hollywood and man the Barrymore history sounds like it could replace The Crown for a family historical drama.
Id be up for that
The Wayans have 2 generations now--children of Keenan's generation. Also, you forgot the Carradines.
Missed the Huston family. Whooopsie.
Yeah, that's definitely a multi-generation family. Starting with Walter Huston, then John Huston, then Anjelica and Danny Huston, then Jack Huston. I think they're the only acting family to have three generations of Oscar winners (Walter, John, and Anjelica).
This was fascinating. Thank you.
Carradines?
wait, Nick Cage and Talia Shire are actually Coppolas?
a couple of Coppolas.
Yes , in the credits for Fast Times At Ridgemont High Nicolas Cage is listed in the credits as "Nicolas Coppola - Brad's Bud" for his small role as Brad Hamilton's ( Judge Reinhold ) friend and co-worker .
As far as Talia Shire I've never seen her use the Coppola name before....
I do miss some acting families, though they might be more British/Irish than Hollywood.
-Redgrave, Harris, Troughton & Cusack/Irons.
Other smaller trees:
-Pertwee, Davidson(Moffett)/Tennant(McDonald), Gleeson & Skarsgård (Swedish).
the Barrymore's are awesome - list made my day
Missed out on the Eddie Fisher marriage to Debbie Reynolds and then Eddie Fisher's other actor children (Joely and Tricia), and Judy Garland's other children, who are/were also actors.
Great video today keep it up your doing amazing job
The Barrymores still run a vocal school in New York. Axel Rose went there after he became famous so he could learn how to sing properly.
Thanks for this one
Only a suggestion here, how about the Carradine dynasty! Everything you do is fantastic, and I know you'll always come up with new ideas for family trees, etc.,! 😀👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌
Great video! 👍
You're selling Donald Sutherland short. Kiefer Sutherland might be more well known to you, but his father has over 400 titles in his IMDB Filmography. He is widely known and respected for his acting talents and has been a major film star for decades.
Love your content! Could you please do (if you haven't already) the Orishas, Sapien family tree, the Jacksons and how some of the US presidents are distantly related
Some Families you forgot: Quaid’s, Murray’s, Huston’s, Howard’s, Cusack’s, Skåsgard’s, and you definitely forgot that Damon Wayans has a son who’s a known actor (Damon Wayans Jr.), and he’s in one of my favorite movies (The Other Guys).
Here in Philadelphia our theatre awards are called Barrymores :)
This was great thank you! Looks like there’s enough for a part 2 as well, any hope?? To add to the missing, Judy Garland’s other daughter Lorna Luft, acclaimed cabaret star and featured in Grease 2 (guilty pleasure)
I'd be interested in more celebrity family trees, like music with the Gordy and Jackson families, or the Swarzcheneger/Schiver tree
There is a video about the Gordy family
I heard that Jimmy Carter and June Carter Cash are related but i have no idea how
June Carter's whole family is pretty famous, starting the generation before her on down.
I’m directly related to the Drew acting family! But whenever I tell people I’m related to Drew Barrymore they look at me funny because my last name is her first name, but that’s exactly WHY it’s her first name!
Cool. Do you know the exact connection?
You left out John Barrymore III. Also worth mentioning that John Barrymore Jr. was a big star in Italian sword and sandal pictures, the craze of his day. Work done indiligently .
The chart didn't really flow well, but I did enjoy.
Loved it!
I'd love to see a Barrymore documentary like Ken Burns style or a series about their family. Man! The stories are endless. Louisa not wanting Georgina to marry the scoundrel Maurice Barrymore to him being shot in a saloon with John Drew present,..., on and on.
Wait, did you skip over Jason Schwartzman (Coppola Tree)?! Or am I just sleepy? If skipped, why? He's one of my favorite actors
I wondered that too. I was also surprised to see that he and Nicolas Cage are related!
@@anniekallen4472 I also just noticed that Sofia Coppola is missing! She's not known for her acting (except that it's cringey lol), but she's a great, well known director.
Carrie Fisher's father, Eddie Fisher was a popular singer. After Divorcing from Debbie Reynolds he married Elizabeth Taylor, they didn't have children, but Elizabeth had several with her former husbands, some of whom were in show business. Elizabeth soon divorced Eddie, Eddie then remarried and had two more daughters, both of whom are actors.
I didn't realize how far back the Barrymores went. Wow.
