    * * * * * DCT shift control motor cleaning (english) * * * * *
It’s a type error that the carbon brushes wear out and stay back in the isolated shift control motor. They cause contact error or in extreme cases the shift control motor stucks. If the switching has become slower or doesn’t always shift to the right gear, it might be caused by this Problem. It sometimes appears at high temperature or it won’t be shifted to certain gears.
The solution can be cleaning of the DCT shift motor. I had cleaned it some thousand km earlier before I made this video so I couldn’t show you how dirty it really was.
Important: The seals must be cleaned dry without chain cleaner! The lubricant of the bearings mustn’t be washed off.
    Tools:
    Allen key: 4, 5, 8
    Socket wrench: 8 + extension
    Torque wrench
    Chain cleaner
Lubricant ( min. up to 100 °C or more)
    Gloves
    On your own responsibility!

Just done exactly this. Worked perfect.
Bike was stuck in 2nd gear. Turned off, wouldnt start.
    Battery was 100%.
    Cleaned and re fitted, worked.
One thing to note (as others did) move the bike on the wheels. There is a speed sensor that typically likes to know the bike is moving before changing gear. Not always but it can help.
Thanks man, owe you a beer 👍

This was the motor that gave me issues at around 50,000 miles. It would overheat after 40+ minutes of riding and then my NC700XD would stop shifting and go into limp mode. I took to to the dealer and they had no idea what was wrong because it was only an intermittent issue and they couldn't duplicate it. They tested the shift motor per the Service Manual but it was reading fine in both directions. At the time I didn't know it was the Shift motor either, so my bike sat in the shop for 2 weeks until they told me they wanted to replace the ECU. I decided to take things into my own hands and replaced the motor and it's been fine ever since. If you own a DCT i totally recommend you clean it every 16,000 miles or so.

Changed the front sprocket at 25k, figured I'd do this while in there. Broke the plastic casing trying to put the contact tips back in when reassembling. Rolled the dice and got about 100 miles until it went into limp mode a few miles from home. Couldn't rock'n'roll it back into neutral to get it started again. Hopefully a new shift motor ($237 with 1 day shipping) will rectify my mistake...

Wonderful video, Mr Do it yourself! Would you please give us an advice how to loosen stiff chain links? IMHO the o- chain- rings are bloating during the time, they become more and more voluminous and are blocking after some years, even the chain has bareley lengthened (LESS THAN 0:5 %). I am not able to find out how to solve the problem...and I have tried a lot: grease, heat, kerosin, bathing the chain one week in gear oil.... not any chance at all...
