Prying is using leverage to open something. In this case using a flat screwdriver or rounded knife in a crack to pop it open. That’s the best description I can come up with. Funny how some words get left behind in a 2nd language. Sadly I only speak one :( cheers!

yes, prying is how one takes off a hubcap from a wheel on a car
The best example is how you use a crowbar or hammer to get a nail out of something. By pulling back and applying force, you're prying the nail out of whatever it was stuck in. It is also used for when you try to use leverage to take something apart.
I mean, I think he got there on his own in the end. Even managed to get in a joke in about it, too. He's a pro like that.
I'm always so impressed at these puzzles. I mean coming up with something like that and others actually being able to solve it.

If you not know where the spare tire is... you can have a hard time finding it if you are there...
And how you release the spare tire?.... You have to take a rounded head, and put it in a dived, and unskrew, so the tire drop.
Now that’s a good box right there.

This one I find truly incredible, from the mechanism to the craftsmanship.
I think I would've really struggled with this one. It leads you to believe things that aren't happening, such as that the ball bearing was dropping or changing position. Mr puzzle did way better than I would've. Loved the sneaky trick with the lid as well.
"Sequential discovery", that's the kind I like the most. Began watching puzzle channels today, I like yours the best, because of the style with which you approach them, and the fact that you do seem to have some serious education, that made, for example, the resolution of puzzles like the Greek mythology based ones quite a pleasure to watch. Really like this one alot. He only has one design for sale at the moment and it is not this one, but it looks beautiful and I imagine it is a good puzzle too.
Just saw Chris Ramsay do a puzzle by the same guy recently and I was awed by that one. This one is also amazing!! Can’t wait to see more of his stuff!!!
So, in it's default locked position, you could use something like a bent paperclip (instead of the pin) to open the box without having to solve the puzzle.
Prying would be to insert a tool between two parts and use leverage to force them apart. In English, the "crowbar" would be the prototypical tool used to pry. I believe that's "nageleisen" in German. Not the end used to remove nails, though.

@@platinpalladium I checked Hornbach and things called "brechstange" seemed to have a nail claw at one end and a spike at the other. I was looking for a tool with a wedge that clearly had no purpose other than prying, and they seemed to be "nageleisen". I just now checked OBI and it looks like "hebeleisen" might have been a better word.

Second time i write this but seriously, you need to go back to solve the impossible planet puzzle, it's messing with my damn OCD knowing that you hav'nt solved that one yet! Seriously give it another crack, if you can spend days on Quintus Extreme you can solve the damn planet to! :D

XD "thumbs pressed" is not an English idiom... just a German one. The English version would be "keep your fingers crossed".

Soooo .... with all of these puzzles and puzzle makers ... if we ever get into an ET war ... we can just lob over puzzles at them. Either they will have arms or appendages and (octopus and a bagpipe) will concentrate on whether these are wooden or metal grenades ... or they will start to dismantle them, or solve the puzzles. If they have no appendages to finaggle all the parts and solutions, then the puzzles will stop and impeded them from going forward or backward. However, if they do attempt to solve (and do solve) the puzzle, then a little explosive inside the puzzle whether puzzle solved, or puzzle destroyed or ran over - will explode. Puzzles are humanity's latest weapon of war ! Especially if they are made of infectious nanobots !

Very intricate, but I’m never a fan of puzzles where you need to work blindly backwards to reset to an earlier state; I think there was a bit too much hidden information in this puzzle.
Doesn't sound too ecological.
