  • If you had asked me 5 years ago what models of 200cc Honda Big Red there were, I would have told you "Oh, that's easy... there's 3. The 1982 and 1983 ATC 200E, and then in 1984 they had the 200ES. Easy!"
    Actually, not so easy... It turns out Honda, in true Honda fashion, threw some curve balls into the mix. In the US, what I said above it true. You could only get the 3 models mention. But world wide... they had 2 odd balls that were made to just make things weird! Great for internet arguments I've found out. Usually the people challenging me have spend next to no time doing their homework... so it's funny. But for those who have done their research, there are 2 extra models. This video goes through all 5!
    Since I've done 3 other videos on the variations in Big Reds, I didn't get too far into the nitty gritty on this one. If you want more information, you can seek those out. This is the only video though specific to just the 200cc Big Reds though. Enjoy!

    Very interesting video. I enjoyed learning some more about the 200’s. I’m like you,my first atc was the 200 es. I grew up on a farm and what a fun and handy work machine it was. In fact I used it so much I had to get a top end rebuild done to it.

      Those 84 200ES's are tried and true machines. I sold the one from my childhood in 2010 like a fool... tried to track it down, but the trail went cold on me. This other one fills the void nicely though.

    Hmmm, I do notice that the 82 Big Red gas tank is tilted up a little more than the others. Maybe the two rubber mounts on the frame were welded in place up higher than the later models? I really never had the pleasure of getting to ride a 200 BR when I was a teenager, and I really wanted a honda 3 wheeler, hoping for a 125 or even a 110, but instead My parents got me a 85 250 BR, talk about being blown away as a kid. I'd like to find a decent 200 BR sometime, I'm sure it would be pretty cool to add to my small collection. Great videos as always👍

    • @ThisOldTrike
      @ThisOldTrike  Před rokem +1

      No, the tank is on the frame wrong... the C shaped metal mounts on the tank are sitting on the rubbers that they're supposed to be around... I need to take the 2 minutes out of my life to fix that... lol.

      @ThisOldTrike  Před 3 měsíci

      If it says Super Red, you must be in Australia or possibly New Zealand? You guys did the 85 200ES too. It could be that the engine and/or other parts have been swapped around over the years too.

    Hi, if you were to choose between the 1984 200es or say 1985 250es, would the 250 be the one because it has more CC ? Im asking because I´m on the hunt for a 250 es but they just dont grow on trees here but there is a 200es with reverse and shaft for sale.

      @@ThisOldTrike thanks for your input, I guess its the overall capability as you mention but whats the biggest difference (in your point of view) is it those 50cc more or the rear suspension that makes the 250 the number one pick ? Well now it got both but you know what I mean 🙂
